nigger-brown shoes. Accused obtained £5 10s. from Patrick Devlin, storekeeper, 223 Jervois Road, Herne Bay, by means of a valueless cheque, No. 519007. He may be in possession of a cheque-book on the Bank of New Zealand, Auckland, No. N 519001-519024. There are other charges pending. Accused obtained motor spirit and oil, value £1 6s. 10d., and £1 3s. 2d. cash from complainant by means of a valueless cheque for £2 10s. No warrant. Napier. 27th June last, for theft of a gentlemen’s overcoat (recovered), value £7, the property of Cyril Brownlie, farmer, Erazertown, Joe Thompson, He may be identical .with man of same name referred to in Police Gazette, 1928, page 612. The coat was stolen from a motor-car and sold to George Gray, Pakipaki, for 10s. No warrant.

Napier. l9th instant, on warrant for failing to comply with the terms of a maintenance order for the support of his wife, Edward Joseph Cleary, age twenty-three, height 5 ft. 7 in., labourer, native of New Zealand, scar on right cheek. Bth instant, on warrant for theft of £2, the property of Jack James Hitchman, labourer, Reikiorangi, Jack Smith (name probably fictitious), age about forty-five, height about 5 ft. 5 in,, labourer and cook, medium build, fresh complexion, ginger hair and moustache, cast in one eye, crooked nose ; dressed in green dungaree trousers, blue pullover, and Panama hat; gruff voice ; fond of drink. Accused, who occupied a room at the Pines Boardinghouse with complainant, was given £1 to purchase Pulmonas. He disappeared with the money, and also stole £1 from complainant’s box.

Wellington. —2oth instant, on warrant for failing to maintain his wife, Kathleen May George, 32 Drummond Street, Albert Townshend George, age thirty, height 5 ft. 7 in., Duco expert, native of New Zealand, medium build, fair complexion and hair, blue eyes ; Lord Kitchener’s head over “ 12034 ”on left arm. He may be accompanied by Thelma Buckley, age twenty-five, height 5 ft. 5 in., dark complexion, hair coiled at sides ; foreign appearance. Accused purchased the bicycle on a hire-purchase agreement, and paid only £1 55., after which he sold it to Ernest Slow, Eairlie, fon£s.
