PERSONS WANTED.

Whangarei. —3rd December last, on warrant of commitment to Auckland Prison for seven days in default of paying 14s. costs for a breach of the Defence Act, Henry Joseph Roycroft, age twenty, height 5 ft. 5 in., labourer and farm hand, native of New Zealand, strong build, dark complexion and hair ; dressed in a navy-blue suit, brown felt hat, and brown shoes.

Auckland. A warrant has been issued for the arrest of each of the following Chinese for remaj/iing in New Zealand beyond the periods for-which temporary /permits were granted : 3rd May, 1928, Gefi Rum Sing, age twenty-four ; Mar Gee, Jige—twenty -seven ’; <Quan Low, age thirty-eight; -/Sin - Sr Young, age twenty-two ; Lee Hoy, age thirty ; ' Feng Hoong, age twenty-eight: 15th May, 1928, Chung Ko Queng, age thirty; Suey King i a gc twenty-two ; Wong Fong, age twentyeight; Wong YuongUage fifty-two ; Low Yee, age twentyeight ; Ah KOU, age\ sixty-two. Cowan, Walter Cowan, age forty-nine, height 5 ft. 11 in., carpenter, native of New Zealand, strong build, fresh complexion, grey hair going bald, large straight nose, light blue eyes. Auckland. 2sth ultimo, for escaping from Mount Eden Prison, John Buckley, alias Herbert Leslie Buckley, alias Thompson, age twenty-five, height 5 ft. 6| in., painter, native of New Zealand, fair complexion, flaxen hair, grey eyes, large nose, scar over left eye, on left foot, and on tip of right forefinger; right little finger deformed; may call on an optician to have his eyes tested, and may be wearing spectacles. He wrote a note to his sister stating that he would try to leave from Wellington for Australia. (See Police Gazette, 1925, page 716, and Photographs, A 923, page 78.) Auckland.— l2th ultimo, on warrant for failing to comply with the terms of a maintenance order for the support of his three children, William Peter Lawrie, age thirty-six, height 5 ft. 11 in., wicker -worker, native of New Zealand, slight build, pale complexion, fair hair, blue eyes. Arrears to 27th January last, £24 2s. He is identical with man of same name who reported his watch, &c., stolen, vide Police Gazette, 1926, page 632.

Auckland. l7th April last, for theft of a ladies’ gold ring (recovered), value £lO 10s., the property of George Smerdon, jeweller, Broadway, Newmarket, Theo Thompson (name probably fictitious), age about forty-eight, height about 5 ft. 11 in., strong build, fresh complexion ; and Man (name unknown), age about twenty-seven, height about 5 ft. 10 in., slight build, fresh complexion. The accused requested to be shown some rings, and surreptitiously left the shop, taking with them the above-mentioned ring, which was subsequently pawned by a man giving the name Theo Thompson. No warrant.

Auckland. — ultimo, on warrant for false pretences, Rutherford Denholm McOuSiy, age thirty-one, height about 5 ft. 5 in., salesman, native of New Zealand, medium build, dark sallow complexion, black hair turning grey, grey eyes, well spoken; fond of drink; smart appearance. Accused obtained £3B 4s. 3d. from George Walker’s, Limited, auctioneers, by falsely representing that a quantity of furniture was his own property, whereas it was held on a hirepurchase agreement with Tonson, Garlick, Limited, to whom the sum of £72 3s. 7d. was still owing. He may endeavour to leave- this Dominion. ( •

Hamilton. —2lst ultimo, on warrant for failing to maintain his illegitimate child, of whom Ada Daley is the mother, Allan William Wish art, age forty-four, height 5 ft. 8 in., blacksmith, native of New Zealand, medium build, fresh complexion, brown hair, brown eyes, scar on left cheek and on each knee, left ring-finger nail deformed. fn _ (See Police Gazette, 1926, page 484.)

Gisborne. —22nd March last, on warrant of commitment to Gisborne Prison for seven days in default of paying £1 15s. fine and costs for being found' on licensed premises during prohibited hours, William Joseph O’Reilly, age sixty-one, height 5 ft. 7 in., labourer, native of Ireland, medium build, fresh complexion, brown hair, blue eyes, small nose, back of skull injured, muscles of left hand contracted ; rose, shamrock, and thistle on right forearm ; scar on left upper arm ; shabbily dressed in a grey tweed suit and grey felt hat. Wellington.l6th ultimo, on warrant of commitment to Wellington Prison for two months in default of paying £3O arrears due on a maintenance order for the support of his wife, Gerald Allan Ainsworth, age thirty, height 5 ft. 9 in., canvasser, native of Canada, medium build, fresh complexion, brown hair, blue eyes, long nose, small ears, scar on forehead. Wellington. —-26th April last, for false pretences, Fvlan (name unknown), age about twenty-five, height 5 ft. 8 in., pale complexion, fair hair, large hooked nose, high cheekbones, one gold front tooth ; dressed in a blue suit, brown felt hat, and black boots with tan laces ; slight impediment in speech. Accused obtained £8 from Charles Woollett, fireman, 39 Cowper Street, Greymouth, by falsely representing that he was staying at the Windsor Hotel and required the money to pay for his board. No warrant.

Wellington. lßth April last, on warrant for failing to maintain his child, Joseph Patrick O’ Hare, age thirty, height 6 ft., motor-salesman, native of Ireland, strong build, fresh complexion, curly fair hair, blue eyes ; clean-shaved ; usually well dressed. • 0- j/ % 0 Wellington. — l9th April last, on warrant of commitment to Wellington Prison for three days in default of paying £3 15s. fine and costs for being found in a common gaminghouse, John Grey, alias James Wylie Gray, age forty, height 5 ft. 10 in., traveller, native of Scotland, slight build, fair complexion, brown hair, blue-grey eyes ; usually well dressed. Christchurch.— ultimo, on warrant for failing to comply with the terms of a maintenance order for the support of his child, Robert Murray Cowan, age twenty-two, height 5 ft. 6 in., wireworker, native of New Zealand, fresh complexion, brown hair, blue eyes, scar over right eye, on centre of forehead, and on left thumb.
