The cheque-form, together with a moneybox containing £1 and two pairs of socks, was stolen from the dwelling of William D. Sharpies, farm-manager, Otane. He may be identical with Gerald McWhirter, referred to in Police Gazette, 1927, page 649, and J 928, page 165.

Htjnterville. —On or about the 13th ultimo, on warrant for forgery and uttering, Charles Patrick McAllister, age twenty-seven, height 5 ft. I©| in., labourer and shearer, native of New Zealand, medium build, fresh complexion, brown hair and eyes, scar on left groin and on right ankle ; dressed in a light suit and light felt hat with striped band. Accused, who was given a cheque for £1 10s. by Isaac G. Bartlett, for whom he had been working, altered it to £9 10s., and uttered it to Smith, licensee, Hunterville Hotel. He may be identical with Man (name unknown), who obtained by similar means a saddle from Frederick John Evans, saddler, referred to in Police Gazette, 1928, page 164". No warrant.
