Whangakei.— 2lst instant, on warrant of commitment to Whangarei Prison for three days in default of paying £1 ss. fine and costs for a breach of the borough by-laws, Thomas Henry Hook, age forty, height 5 ft. 7 in., labourer and fisherman, native of New Zealand, medium build., fresh tanned complexion, curly brown hair, hazel eyes, grey short moustache ; dressed in grey flannel trousers, grey sports coat, and grey felt hat. o / -Q P

Auckland. 2sth November last. The above is a photograph of Henry Edward Laverty, who is wanted on warrant for forgery : Age twenty, height 5 ft. 8 in., ex Post Office clerk, native of New Zealand, slight build, fair complexion, light-brown hair, blue eyes, scarf on left calf; dressed in a navy-blue suit and light-grey felt hat, r and wears a wedding ring on right ring-finger. The warrant charges accused, who was* employed, in the Clevedon Post-office, with forging the signature “ H. Gore ” to a money-order for £4O, which he

uttered at an Auckland suburban post-office, receiving that amount in 'cash. He stole ten money-orders from the postoffice, and operated six of them as described above, obtaining in all £232. Auckland. 6th instant, on warrant for failing to comply with the terms of a maintenance order for the support of his wife, Hazel G. Clark, Leslie Halworth Clark, age forty-one, height 5 ft. 7 in., salesman, native of Australia, medium build, florid complexion, brown hair, grey eyes, broad nose, scar on lower lip, clean-shaved. Hamilton. —17th instant, on warrant for failing to comply with the terms of a maintenance order for the support of his wife and two children, James Wallace Willis, age thirty-six, height 5 ft. 6|- in., clerk and insurance agent, native of Scotland, medium build, fresh complexion, brown hair, blue eyes, long nose, large ears, scar on back of right hand, ruptured on right side. Patea. —11th instant, on warrant for wilful damage to a window, &c., value £5, the property of Anthony Eugene Vodanovich, restaurant-proprietor, Barney Rose, alias Rhodes, age about twenty-eight, height about 5 ft. 8 in., slaughterman, native of New Zealand, strong build, dark complexion and hair, clean-shaved ; dressed in a light-grey suit, light felt hat, and tan shoes. Patea. —11th instant/ on warrant for wilful damage to a window, &c., value £5, the property of Anthony Eugene Vodanovich, restaurant-proprietor, George McNaughton, alias “ Snowy” McNaughton, age about thirty-two, height about 6 ft. 2 in., slaughterman, native of New Zealand, strong build, fair complexion, fair hair going bald, gold fillings in front teeth, clean-shaved ; dressed in a dark suit and light felt hat.

Feeding. —l6th instant, on warrant for failing to comply with the terms of a maintenance order for the support of his wife, John William Lewis, age fifty-one, height 5 ft. 7 in., carpenter and labourer, native of New Zealand, medium build, dark complexion, bushy black hair, brown eyes, varicose vein in inside of right calf ; rolling gait.. Palmerston North. —20th instant, on warrant for failing to maintain his wife, Evangeline Bloxsome, 223 Princess Street, Francis Harry Bloxsome, age thirty-eight, height 5 ft. 10 \ in., labourer and motor-driver, native of England, medium build, fresh complexion, dark-brown hair, blue eyes, scar on chin, woman holding Union Jack and sword on left forearm, E. and two dots on right forearm ; dressed in a dark-brown suit, light-grey felt hat, and dark tan boots ; erect gait. He is accompanied by his daughter, Rosina Jean Bloxsome, age thirteen and a half, height 5 ft. 2 in., dark-brown short hair. (See Police-Gazette, 1923, page 541.)

Wellington. —l2th instant, on warrant for false pretences, Robert Irwin Meachlem, alias George Raymond, alias Norman Edward Rodgers, alias Mac Lean, age thirty-four, height 5 ft. 9f in., mechanic, native of New Zealand, medium build, fresh complexion, light-brown hair, grey eyes, scar on nose, scars on one hand ; clasped hands and flowers on right forearm ; woman, Maltese cross, ship, flag, and “ M.C. & Co.” on left forearm. Accused, in company with Rose Levy, referred to in following paragraph, obtained £l6 from Kathleen Bardebes, The Parade, Lyall Bay, by means of a valueless cheque for that amount. Wellington. —l2th instant, on warrant for false pretences, Rose Levy, age twenty-one, height about 5 ft., domestic, native of New Zealand, medium build, dark complexion, black hair (shingled), dark-brown eyes. Accused, in company with Robert Irwin Meachlem, referred to in preceding paragraph, obtained £l6 from Kathleen Bardebes, The Parade, Lyall Bay, by means of a valueless cheque for that amount. Wellington. —On or about the 18th ultimo, on warrant for false pretences, Charles Cyhrberg, age about thirty-three, height about 5 ft. 6 in., labourer and carrier, native of New Zealand, slight build, dark complexion ; usually dressed in a grey suit and cap. Accused obtained £ls from Edward Thomas Langstaff, Park Road, Lower Hutt, by falsely representing that a horse, an express, and a set of harness which he sold to Langstaff was his own property, whereas the Loan Security and Discount Company held a bill of sale over it. He is accompanied by his wife, a son (age seven), and a daughter (age five). 2/-3

No warrant.

Wellington.3lst December last, for theft of a bicycle (recovered), value £lO, the property of Donald James Douglas, 13 Donald McLean Street, Stanley Rhodes (name probably fictitious), age about twenty height about 5 ft. 8 in., medium build, sallow complexion, dark hair, blue eyes, large nose, clean-shaved ; dressed in a light-grey suit, light cap, and tan shoes. The bicycle was stolen from Victoria Street on the above date, and sold to a second-hand dealer for £2 by a man of the above description. No warrant.

Wellington.—lßth instant, that a summons to show cause why a maintenance order for the support of his wife, Florence Smith Murphy, and child, 54 Warburton Street, Liverpool, England, should not be confirmed may be served upon him, Frederick George Murphy, age twenty-seven, height 5 ft. 9 in., electrician and steward, native of England, slight build, sallow complexion, dark hair, brown eyes, high forehead, clasped hands on one forearm.
