Auckland. — On or about the 19th ultimo, on warrant for theft of 50 lb. scrap brass (recovered), value £1 10s., the property of J. B. Mac Ewan, Ltd., Bryan Charles McCarthy, age seventeen, height 5 ft. 8 in., farm labourer and moulder, native of New Zealand, slight build, fair complexion, brown hair, blue eyes ; well dressed in a dark-grey suit and grey felt hat. Accused, who was an apprentice moulder with the above firm, was interviewed by the Auckland police and admitted the offence, after which he disappeared. He may be in possession of an old blue-enamelled bicycle. There are other charges pending. ft /

Auckland. —28th ultimo, on warrant for false pretences, Paul Augustine Martin, age twenty -eight, height 5 ft. 9 in., motor-driver, native of New Zealand, slight build, fresh complexion, brown hair; well dressed in a dark-grey suit and brown felt hat, and wears a silver wristlet watch. Accused obtained £lO from Francis Owen O’Connor, licensee, Queen’s Head Hotel, by means of a valueless cheque for that amount on the Bank of New Zealand, Wanganui, signed P. A. Martin. Auckland. —11th November last, for forgery, M. Dunlap (name probably fictitious), age about thirty-five, height about 5 ft. 6 in., medium build, dark complexion and hair dressed in a navy-blue serge suit and grey felt hat. Accused forged the signature of Leonard Knight, accountant, 6 Pukehana Avenue, Epsom, to a cheque for £2 2s, and uttered it to Cecil Norman Mardon, Karangahape Road, in payment for a pair of scissors. The cheque was out of a book stolen from the office of W. T. Maben, accountant, Acacia Buildings, several of which have been forged and uttered at Auckland. No warrant. J 3

Auckland. 24th November last, on warrant for forgery, C. Talbott (name probably fictitious), age about forty, height about 5 ft. 8 in., medium build, dark complexion and hair; dressed in a navy-blue suit. Accused forged the signature of Thomas E. Whitton to a cheque for £4 4s. on the Bank of New South Wales, Auckland, and uttered it to Edwin Gordon Fraser, manager, Caledonia Hotel. There are other charges pending.

Auckland. —Between the 23rd and 25th August last, for theft of a pair of roller skates (recovered), value £1 155., the property of Edward Lye, dairyman, George Yates, age about twenty height 5 ft. 8 in., labourer, slight build, sallow complexion, fair hair, long nose, sharp features ; dressed in a dark suit and light-grey felt hat. The skates were stolen from the Premier Skating-rink and sold to a dealer by a man of the description given. No warrant.

Auckland. Tuohy, alias Bob Hearn, carrying on the business of a bookmaker and failing to maintain. It has been ascertained by the Queen Street Wharf (Auckland) police that he is now in Sydney (Australia)., ( See/Police Gazette, 1927, pages 667 and 712.) /j) /j.

Wellington. —loth November last, for theft of a bicycle (recovered), value £5, the property of P. R. Baillie and Co., The Terrace, T. Richards, age about twenty-four, height about 5 ft. 4 in., slight build, pale complexion; dressed in blue trousers, brown coat, heavy woollen scarf, and tweed cap ; sharp features. The bicycle was stolen from Taranaki Street, and sold to a dealer for £1 by a man of the description given. He may be identical with Thomas Vincent Dowtlall, alias John Duffy, referred to in Police Gazette, 1927, page 843. No warrant.

Wellington. 2lst ultimo, that he may be interviewed regarding the maintenance of his three children in the care of the Education Department, Patrick Joseph McGrath,’ age thirty-four, height 5 ft. in., labourer, native of New Zealand, fresh complexion, dark-brown hair, hazel eyes, scar between eyes and on ' back of neck, heart and cross on left forearm, ring on left middle finger, right little-finger nail split.
