Auckland. —9th ultimo, for breaking and entering the dwelling of William Kirby, 13 Campbell Road, Grey Lynn, and stealing therefrom a suit of clothes (recovered), value £8 Bs., James Weston (name probably fictitious), age about twenty-nine, height about 5 ft. 7 in., medium build, sallow, complexion, clean-shaved ; shabbily dressed in a grey suit and grey felt hat. The description is that of a man who sold the suit to a second-hand dealer for £1 10s. The photograph of Frederick John McDonald, referred to in Police Gazette, 1927, page 638, and Photographs, 1924, page 54, has been identified as that of offender. No warrant. Auckland. —Ist ultimo, on warrant of commitment to Auckland Prison for six months in default of paying £l3O arrears due on a maintenance order for the support of his wife, Albert Edward Butler, age thirty-two, height 5 ft. in., labourer; native of New Zealand, medium build, fresh complexion, dark-brown hair, brown eyes ; woman’s head, dagger, and scroll on right forearm ; bracelet on each wrist; sailor, heart, flag, and “A. 8.” on left forearm. Whitford, in the care of the Education Department, Thomas Whitford, age fifty, height 5 ft. 7£in., fishcurer, native of Australia, medium build, fresh complexion, black hair turning grey, hazel eyes, cross between left forefinger and thumb. Auckland. 27th ultimo, on warrant of commitment to Auckland Prison for three days in default of paying £1 ss. fine and costs for fighting, John Shaw, age twenty-five, height 5 ft. 10 in., seaman and hawker, native of England, medium build, fair complexion, brown hair going bald, blue eyes, scar on neck, pansies on left forearm. Auckland.— 24th ultimo, for theft of £7, the property of Frank Mangan, contractor, 151 Great North Road, Grey Lynn, Man (name unknown), age about twenty-six, height about 5 ft. 9 in., slight build, fresh complexion ; well dressed in a light-grey suit, bright coloured socks, and grey felt hat. In Vulcan Lane accused snatched the notes from complainant’s hand and ran away. No warrant.

Auckland. 7th instant, on warrant of commitment to Auckland Prison for twenty-four hours in default of paying £1 os. 6d. fine and costs for drunkenness, Edward Kelly, age forty, height 5 ft. 7 in., fireman, native of Ireland, medium build, fresh complexion, dark-brown hair, blue ■ eyes, small portion of right ear missing. Bin., labourer and fisherman, stout build, dark complexion, brown hair, blue eyes ; a half-caste Portuguese. Arrears to 4th February last, £96 10s.

Auckland. —18th instant, for failing to comply with the conditions of his release upon probation (Offenders Probation Act, 1920), Thomas Kelly, age thirty-six, height 5 ft. 9 in., motor mechanic, native of Scotland, medium build, fresh complexion, dark hair, hazel eyes ; “ T.K.” and heart on left forearm, anchor on back of left hand, ring on left middle and ring fingers. Hamilton. —7th instant, on warrant for failing to maintain his wife, Daisy Phelan, 98 Ulster Street, Valentine Phelan, age thirty-seven, height 6 ft., labourer, native of New Zealand, strong build, fresh complexion, black hair, grey eyes, heavy eyebrows ; usually well dressed in a blue serge suit.

Hamilton. — Ernest Tiswell Shaw, failing to maintain, has written from Sydney (Australia). (See Police Gazette, 1927, page 700.)

Hamilton. lsth July last, on warrant for false pretences, Michael Kayes, age about forty, height about 5 ft. 8 in., labourer, native of New Zealand, stout build, ruddy complexion ; fond of drink. Accused obtained from the Pay-master-General, Public Works Department, £4 Bs. 3d. by falsely representing that he was a married man.

Gisborne. John Charles Augustine, default of maintenance : It has been ascertained by the Gisborne police that he has written from Sydney, Australia, under the name of J. Wells. (See Police Gazette, 1927, page 570.)

New Plymouth. —l2th instant, on warrant for failing to comply with the terms of a maintenance order for the support of his wife and children, John Coutthard, age fifty, height 5 ft. 10 in., labourer, native of New Zealand, medium build, ruddy complexion, fair hair, blue eyes, pimples on face, portion of left forefinger missing ; usually dressed in a dark tweed suit and black felt hat or grey cap ; untidy appearance ; fond of drink. Palmerston North. —17th instant, that a summons for failing to notify his change of address (Defence Act) may be served upon him, Leonard John Glaasen, age nineteen, height about 5 ft. 4 in., farm hand, native of New Zealand, medium build, dark-brown hair, thick lips, walks with his head down, fond of drink, and a heavy cigarette-smoker; may seek employment at motor-garages.

Otaki.3rd July last, for false pretences, John Harper Page, alias John Payne, age forty, height 5 ft. 8£ in., advertising agent, native of England, strong build, fair complexion, grey hair, blue eyes, small mouth ; “ Buffalo Bill ” on left forearm. Accused obtained £1 15s. from Frank Shirley Spilman, Paraparaumu, in payment for an advertisement in an almanac which he falsely represented he was publishing. There are other charges pending. Wellington.3oth July last, for failing to comply with the conditions of his release upon probation (Offenders Probation Act, 1920), Arthur Albert Carney, age thirty-four, height sft 6-2-in., painter, native of Australia, fresh complexion, auburn hair, blue eyes. His arrest is desired. He may assume the name Craven. (See Police Gazette, 1926, page 380.)

Christchurch.3rd instant, on warrant for failing to comply with the terms of a maintenance order for the support of his wife, Henry Irvine Hurdley, age twenty-nine, height sft. 8 in., labourer, native of New Zealand, medium build, sallow complexion, dark hair, blue eyes, scar on chin ; usually dressed in a dark-grey suit and brown overcoat. .

Christchurch.—l4th instant, on warrant for failing to provide for the future maintenance of his unborn illegitimate child, Thomas Moyle, age about twenty-two, height about 5 ft. 6 in., steward and fishmonger, native of New Zealand, medium build, fair complexion, fair hair, grey eyes mixed with brown, mark over left eyebrow, small lump on right side of nose ; dressed in a grey suit, grey hat, and patent-leather shoes.
