Goode, age about thirty-five, height 6 ft., canvasser and salesman, native of New Zealand, medium build, fresh complexion, light-brown hair, blue eyes, gold stopping in upper teeth ; usually well dressed in a dark suit. Accused obtained goods, value £2 11s., and £l4 Bs. fid. cash from Norman Herbert Sinclair, manager, Watson Bros., by means of a valueless cheque for £l7 on the Commercial Bank of AP/yVP.

Pahiatua. About 26th June last, for theft of a pair of motor-gloves (recovered), value £1 4s. 6d., the property of Joseph Emden, cycle-dealer, Lionel Mangham, age twentyfour, height sft 6 in., native of New Zealand, medium build, fair complexion, auburn hair, blue eyes. His photograph is filed in the Inspector’s office, Palmerston North. The gloves were stolen from complainant’s shop, and on or about the 19th July last a similar pair were sold at Lower Hutt by a man giving the name Hugh Grant. The photograph of Andrew Alexander Clark, alias H. Hepburn, alias Harold Conway, referred to in Police Gazette, 1925, pages 248 and 433, has been identified as that of accused, and he may be identical with A. Clark, referred to in Police Gazette, 1922, page 178; Hugh H. Grant, Police Gazette, 1927, page 571 ; Jack Harris, Police Gazette, 1927, page 586; and Hugh Vernon Ponsford, Police Gazette, 1927, page 622. He is also suspected of stealing £3 7s. 6d. at Pahiatua, the property of Frederick Albert Rasmussen. No warrant.

Masterton. —15th ultimo, on warrant of commitment to Wellington Prison for three days in default of paying £1 10s. fine and costs for riding a bicycle without a light, Metal Waaka, age twenty-three, height 5 ft. 7 in., labourer, Maori, slight build, copper complexion, bushy black hair, brown eyes ; usually dressed in a navy-blue suit, tan shoes, and felt hat; speaks good English; frequents dance-halls, and usually plavs in orchestras ; smart appearance. /?u,k

His license has been cancelled, and his return to the nearest prison is desired. His period of probation expires on the 16th November, 1927, after which no action is to be taken. He is to be interviewed regarding the watch, which was found in his possession when arrested for drunkenness by the Mount Cook police.
