Auckland. 24th ultimo, on two warrants for failing to comply with the terms of maintenance orders for the support of his wife and two children, Charles William Dunn, age about thirty-one, height 5 ft. Ilf in., labourer, native of New Zealand, medium build, dark complexion and hair, dark-hazel eyes, scar behind left ear, two left fingers missing ; dressed in a navy-blue suit and tan boots. Auckland. ultimo, on warrant for failing to maintain his wife, Gladys Emily Searl, and two children, George Edward Hicks Searl, age about thirty-eight, height 5 ft. 11 in., labourer, native of New Zealand, slight build, fair complexion and hair, blue eyes, scar on right temple ; dressed in a grey suit and felt hat. Auckland. 23rd ultimo, that he may* be interviewed regarding the maintenance of Rebecca Haxton, in a mental hospital, James B. Haxton, age about fifty-eight, height about 5 ft. 9 in., native of Scotland, strong build, dark hair turning grey and going bald, dark moustache ; bowed legs ; usually dressed in a dark-tweed suit and felt hat. Inquiry is at the instance of the Mental Hospitals Department, Wellington.

Auckland. on 7th ultimo, some person or persons unlawfully took a motor-car, value £625, the property of Herbert John Woodbridge, Tuakau, from Albert Street and

drove it to Titirangi where it was found destroyed by fire. Any information regarding the offence is to be communicated to the Superintendent of Police, Auckland.

Auckland. 2lst ultimo, on warrant for attempting to leave New Zealand with intent to disobey a maintenance order for the support of his wife, Beryl Edna Daly, Frank Edward Daly, age thirty, height 5 ft. 10 in., clerk, native of New Zealand, slight build, dark hair and complexion, greyblue eyes ; dressed in navy-blue or grey suit.

Auckland. 2Bth March last, for indecent assault, Man (name unknown), age about eighteen, height about 5 ft. 10 in., thin build, fair hair and complexion. Accused induced Ada Betty Hill (age seven) into a shed and committed the offence. No warrant.

Coromandel.' — 15th March last, on warrant of commitment to Auckland Prison for twenty-one days in default of paying £3 .fine and costs for being found on licensed premises during prohibited hours, Alexander Berry, age forty-five, height 5 ft. 8J in., hotel-porter and labourer, native of England, stout build, fresh complexion, dark hair, blue eyes ; well dressed in blue serge, trousers, grey sports coat, and grey cap ; erect gait.

Gisborne. 23rd ultimo, on warrant for failing to keep proper books (Bankruptcy Act), Israel Gelhor, age about fifty, height 5 ft. 5 in., restaurant-keeper, believed Russian Jew, medium build, swarthy complexion, black hair, grey eyes, clipped moustache ; usually dressed in a blue suit and grey felt hat; wears large glasses; speaks with a foreign accent. Palmerston North. 2sth ultimo, that she may be interviewed regarding the paternity of the illegitimate child of Viven McCallum, Mrs. Morris, age about thirty-three, height about 5 ft. 2 in., waitress, native of New Zealand, slight build, fresh complexion, dark-brown hair, blue eyes ; believed to be living apart from her husband. If located, advice is to be sent to the Inspector of Police, Palmerston North, who will forward the file.

Carterton. —2nd ultimo, on two warrants of commitment to Wellington Prison for two days on each in default of paying £3 6s. fines and costs for two breaches of his prohibition order, Arthur William Witt, age twenty-six, height 5 ft. 5 in., butcher and labourer, native of New Zealand, medium build, dark complexion, black hair, brown eyes; scar on left side of neck, ■on left wrist, and on left thumb, portion of right middle finger missing. Petone. £1 Is., the property of the Riverbank Dairy Co., Lower Hutt, Leonard Gordon Hamilton, age about nineteen, height 5 ft. 7 in., clerk, native of New Zealand, medium build, fresh complexion, fair hair; smart appearance. Accused, who was employed by the above firm to deliver milk, received from James Stirton, music-dealer, Jackson Street, £1 Is. on terms requiring him to pay the same to his employers, but he failed to do so. Wellington. 2sth ultimo, for escaping from lawful custody, George Huia Brewer, age nineteen, height 5 ft. 9 in., labourer, native of New Zealand, fair complexion, light-brown hair, grey eyes, small nose, scar on right hand, on left forefinger, and on left foot, two scars near left knee. Accused, a prisoner from Wellington Prison, was undergoing treatment in the V.D. ward at Wellington Hospital, from where he escaped. Wellington. —29th ultimo, that affiliation proceedings regarding his illegitimate child, of whom Doris Muriel Constable, is the mother, may be instituted against him, Charles Stephen Godfrey Tong, age forty-seven, height 5 ft. 8f in., labourer, native of New Zealand, sallow complexion, grey hair, blue eyes, long nose, scar on left palm, on back, on forehead, and on left ring-finger; left little finger crooked; left hand injured. Christchurch. —Bth April last, on warrant for false pretences, William Scholes, alias Reece, alias Thorne, age thirty-six, height 5 ft. 5-| in., labourer, native of England, medium bui’d, fresh complexion, brown hair, blue eyes, scar under left ear and on abdomen ; lump under right knee. Accused obtained £8 6s. from George Pierce, grocer, Kilmore Street, by means of a valueless cheque for that amount. He is in possession of a five-seater red Studebaker motor-car, registered number 98-476. There are other charges pending. Christchurch. —7th April last, on warrant of commitment to Paparua Prison for six months in default of paying £97 15s. arrears due on a maintenance order for the support of his wife, Amelia Hannah Fitzgerald, Harold Joseph Fitzgerald, age fifty, height 5 ft. 11 in., labourer and cook, native of Ireland, medium build, fresh complexion, brown hair going bald, blue eyes, right little finger missing, prominent ears. Christchurch. 6th ultimo, on warrant for theft of a vacuum flask and radio transformer (recovered) and a kitbag, total value £1 ss. 6d., the property of William James Bruce, 132 Blighs Road, E. Donaldson (name probably fictitious), age about twenty height about 5 ft. 5 in., good build, sallow •complexion, grey eyes; dressed in a light-grey coat and vest, dark-grey trousers, and mouse-coloured felt hat. The articles were stolen from Hereford Street, and were sold to a second-hand dealer by a man of the description given.

Timaru. April last, that a summons for trespass on Washdyke racecourse may be served upon him, John Jamieson Fraser, age thirty-seven, height 5 ft 91 in., labourer, native of Scotland, medium build, fresh complexion, brown hair, blue eyes, scar over right eye and on back of each hand, one little finger bent, left little toe missing ; shabbily dressed in a dark suit and felt hat.
