Auckland. Between the 25th and 31st ultimo, from the shop of VICTOR EDGAR, 328 Queen Street, a pair of Starlex prism binoculars, black leather covering on cylinders, “ 12. x ” marked on centre screw ; value, £6 10s. Identifiable.

On the 30th ultimo the dwelling of GEORGE TURNER, Walls Road, Penrose, was broken into and the following stolen therefrom : A ladies’ large open-face gold watch, keywind, Roman numerals; and a black ribbon watch-guard, with gold fasteners on each end and gold shield in centre inscribed “ G. Turner, Xmas, 1918,” or 1919 : total value, £7 10s. Identifiable.

Auckland. On the night of the 26th February last the premises of JOHN BURNS (LIMITED), Custom Street East, were broken into and £l9 15s. in money stolen from the safe, which was forced open. Not identifiable.

Hastings. During the night of the 15th ultimo the shop of JOHN BEWLEY, music-vendor, was broken into and the following stolen therefrom : A cheque for £5 12s. 3d. (recovered) ; a cheque for £34 14s. 5d., No. A 411803, on the Bank of New Zealand, Hastings, in favour of John Bewley, signed “R. B. Holmes,”; and 2s. Suspicion is attached to a Man (name unknown), age about twenty-five, height about 5 ft. 5 in., medium build, fair complexion and hair, cleanshaved ; dressed in a dark-blue overcoat and grey felt hat. The recovered cheque was tendered by the above-described man to James Alfred Chalk, boot-importer, in payment of £2 for a pair of tan “ Flexile ” boots, size 7.

Hastings. — or 30th ultimo, the property of ETHEL McNIVEN, Haumoana, a ladies’ dark-brown full-length coney seal fur coat, fur bottoms, “Ethel McNiven,” on tab near collar; value, £ls 15s. Identifiable. The coat was taken from a motor-car which was unlawfully used and subsequently found abandoned.

Palmerston North. —On the 2nd ultimo the dwelling of JAMES MASON, 1 Union Street, was broken into and the following stolen therefrom : A gentlemen’s rolled-gold Elgin hunting-watch, No. 12519525, white dial, black figures ; a gold curb watch-chain, with silver sovereign-case attached with “M.M.” scratched inside; a Maxwell motor-car key and a Yale key.; and £2 10s. in money : total value, £l3. Identifiable except money.

Palmerston North. — Between the 29th January last and the 3rd February, from a garage at 6 Grey Street, the property of ERNEST AINSWORTH, a Valley battery-charger, about 10 in. by 10 in., glass top, vulcanite sides and bottom, ammeter and four-plug switch on one side, number probably 11025; value, £7 10s. Identifiable.
