PERSONS WANTED.

Auckland. Bth instant, that he may be induced to report to the Probation Officer, Auckland, John Munro, age twentytwo, height 5 ft. 6 in., labourer, native of New Zealand, fair complexion, curly fair hair, blue eyes ; weak intellect. (See Police Gazette, 1926* page 457) and Photographs, 1925, page 60.)

Auckland. —7th instant, that she may be compelled to maintain her illegitimate child, an inmate of Wellington Receiving Home, Violet Rose Morgan, alias Fishman, age twenty-two, height 5 ft. 6 in., domestic and waitress, native of New Zealand, stout build, brown hair, grey eyes, broad features; untidy appearance. (See Police Gazette, 1926, page 85.)

Auckland. — or about the 22nd ultimo, on warrant for conspiring to defraud, Claude Daniel Cox, age thirty-eight, height 5 ft. 9 in., native of Australia, medium build, fair complexion and hair, clean-shaved ; dressed in a blue or brown suit (double-breasted coat) and hard hat, and wears a fine gold watch-chain and a small diamond-and-ruby cluster ring on one little finger ; quick gait. Accused and H. Countly, referred to in following paragraph, obtained £l5O from Arthur Woolloton Gardiner, 179 Grafton Road, Auckland, by falsely representing that they were setting up in business at Wellington to take orders for portrait enlargements on behalf of the Ramsay Portrait Works, Sydney, and that for the above amount complainant had acquired the South Island rights to canvass for orders. Accused accompanied complainant to Wellington, where he (accused) received a telegram from his accomplice (Countly) to return urgently to Auckland, which he did, and disappeared. Auckland. On or about the 22nd ultimo, on warrant for conspiring to defraud, H. Countly, age twenty-seven, height 6 ft., native of Australia, medium build, dark sallow complexion, large nose ; usually well dressed in a grey suit and grey soft hat. Accused and Claude Daniel Cox obtained £l5O from Arthur Woolloton Gardiner, 179 Grafton Road, by fraudulent means as described in preceding paragraph.

Auckland. —29th ultimo, on warrant for failing to comply with the terms of a maintenance order for the support of his child, William Richard Franklin, age forty-eight, height 5 ft. 10 in., miner, blacksmith, and oil engineer, native of Australia, strong build, fresh complexion, brown hair, blue eyes; clean-shaved. Arrears to 19th ultimo, £22. (See Police Gazette, 1926, page 565.)

Auckland. - bag (recovered) and £lO in 10s. notes and silver from the person of Alfred Bryan, grocer, 39 Richmond Avenue, Grey Lynn, Man (name unknown), age about twenty-five, height about 5 ft. 10 in., strong build; dressed in light-grey tweed coat,

dark trousers, and felt hat. About 9.15 p.m., in a lane between Allen Road and Richmond Avenue, complainant was knocked down by accused, who snatched his bag and ran away. The bag-was subsequently recovered in a vacant section. No warrant.

Te Aroha. —9th ultimo, on warrant for false pretences, A. Johnston (name probably fictitious), age about twentyfour, height about 5 ft. 10 in., slight build, fair complexion, light-brown hair, clean-shaved, sharp features; shabbily dressed in a brown tweed suit (no hat) ; well spoken ; smart gait; delicate appearance. Accused obtained a blue suit, size 7, value £5, and ss. fid. cash from Dr. Dempster by falsely representing that he was employed by the Waikato Dyeing and Cleaning Works, and was collecting suits for cleaning and pressing. qmw® /.? -/ ~Xy

Te Rapa Racecourse, John Thomas Kennedy, alias James Kennedy, alias Watson, age forty-three, height 5 ft. in., labourer and miner, native of Ireland, strong build, fresh complexion, grey hair, hazel eyes, large ears, scar on nose, on right palm, and at corner of left eye. Arapuni. —2nd ultimo, on warrant for theft of an alarmclock and a blanket (recovered) and a pair of underpants, total value £2, the property of Anton Krilitich, labourer, Arapuni, J. Butler, age about thirty, height 5 ft. 7 in., labourer, native of New Zealand, slight build, sallow complexion, dark hair, grey eyes, clean-shaved, upper teeth missing; active gait; talkative ; frequents billiard-saloons. Accused, during complainant’s temporary absence from a hut which they jointly occupied, stole the articles and sold the clock and blanket at Arapuni. -i>' J Q *7

Taihape.— instant, that a summons for failing to maintain his two children in Wanganui Receiving Home may be served upon him, Henry Barr Duncan, age thirty-three, height 5 ft. 9£ in., traveller, native of New Zealand, fresh complexion, brown hair turning grey, blue eyes, scar above right eye. Ohura.— 26th October last, on warrant for theft of phonograph records, a rug, and handkerchiefs, &c. (recovered), value £27 155., the property of Alan Edwin Papps, bank clerk, Matiere, William James Moore, alias William Healey, age forty, height 5 ft. 6f in., labourer and butcher, native of New Zealand, strong build, dark complexion, black hair, dark-grey eyes, scar on right elbow, three dots on left forearm, ring on left ring-finger; dressed in grey trousers and dark coat and vest; fond of drink. Stratford. — Bth instant, that a summons for obscene language and fighting may be served upon him, Thomas Brennan, age fifty-two, height 5 ft. 6 in., labourer, native of Ireland, fresh complexion, grey hair going bald, brown eyes, scar on forehead ; dressed in a blue serge suit and hard hat. Hawera. — 12th August last, on warrant for false pretences, William McGregor (name probably fictitious), age about fiftytwo, height 5 ft. 9 in., medium build, fresh complexion, fair hair turning grey; dressed in a navy-blue suit and blue overcoat; left foot believed to be artificial; smart appearance. Accused obtained a gentlemen’s silver wristlet watch and a gold wedding-ring, value £4 14s. 6d., from E. Morris, jeweller, Hawera, by falsely representing that he was a stockdealer, of Wanganui.

Napier. —6th instant, that he may be compelled to comply with the terms of a maintenance order for the support of Clarence Fink, an inmate of Napier Receiving Home, Jack Wilmott Fink, alias John Fischer, alias Jack Wilmont Fink, age thirty-five, height 5 ft. 11 in., electrical engineer, native of New Zealand, dark complexion, light-brown hair, grey eyes, scar on upper lip, on right forearm, and on inside of left knee, mole on inside of right knee. Wellington. 29th ultimo, on warrant for failing to maintain his illegitimate child, of whom Margaret Roach is the mother, Harold Connolly, age twenty-five, height 5 ft. 5 in., shepherd, slight build, fair complexion and hair, clean-shaved, tattoo-marks on left arm.

Wellington.— Lindsay Hilton Trevor Clareburt, alias Clarebut, default of fine and costs : It has been ascertained by the Wharf (Wellington) police that he signed off the s.s “ Port Melbourne ” at London (England) on the sth September last. (See Police Gazette, 1926, pages 535 and 600.)

Wellington. — l6th October last, for failing to comply with the conditions of his release upon probation (Offenders Probation Act, 1920), Arthur Vetcher, age sixty-three, height 5 ft. 6 in., cook, native of England, medium build, fresh complexion, grey hair, blue eyes, large broad nose, left thumb missing. Nelson. instant, that he may be compelled to maintain his wife in Porirua Mental Hospital, John Ball, age fifty, height 5 ft. 10 in., labourer and bushman, native of New Zealand, medium build, sallow complexion, fair hair turning grey, blue eyes ; shabbily dressed in a dark-grey suit; fond of drink, and loiters about hotels. Inquiry by the Mental Hospitals Department.

Christchurch. —Ist instant, on warrant of commitment to Wellington Prison for one month in default of paying £l7 15s. arrears due on a maintenance order for the support of her son in Christchurch Receiving Home, Ethel Florence Traue, age about forty, height 5 ft. 6 in., domestic, native of New Zealand, medium build, sallow complexion, darkbrown hair, brown eyes. Arrears computed to 28th August last. She may be living with Andrew Price, referred to in following paragraph. /- 8

Christchurch. — lst instant, on warrant of commitment to Wellington Prison for one month in default of paying £3O arrears due on a maintenance order for the support of his two children in Christchurch Receiving Home, Andrew Price, age thirty-four, height 5 ft. 7 in., bootmaker, native of New Zealand, medium build, dark complexion, brown hair, hazel eyes, scar on lip, Japanese woman, star, flowers, and dagger on right forearm. Arrears computed to Ist September last. He may be living with Ethel Florence Traue, referred to in preceding parrrp jh. (See Police Gazette, 1926, page 419.)

Christchurch. — ultimo, on warrant for theft of a gentlemen’s bicycle (recovered), value £l4, the property of Stanley Kiesanowski, baker, 74 Hewitts Road, Merivale, C. James, height 5 ft. 6 in., dark complexion ; dressed in a grey suit and felt hat (splashes of white paint on hat). The bicycle was stolen from Burwood, and was sold by a man of the description given to H. Money, cycle agent, Ashburton, for £4 10s.

Christchurch. —l9th ultimo, on warrant of commitment to Paparua Prison for fourteen days in default of paying £4 14s,- 2d. fine and costs for disturbing an entertainment, Cecil Honniwell, age twenty-six, height 5 ft. 8 in., labourer, native of New Zealand, medium build, fresh complexion, brown hair, blue fives.

Wait 3oth ultimo, for escaping from Seacliff Mental Hospital, Alick Buchanan, age thirty-two, height 5 ft. 8-1 in., native of New Zealand, slight build, fair tanned complexion, fair hair, clean-shaved ; dressed in a grey tweed coat and vest and dark-grey trousers and cap ; clothing branded with a cross and dot. Dunedin. — 15th ultimo, on warrant of commitment to Dunedin Prison for six months in default of paying £l4 10s. arrears due on a maintenance order for the support of his wife, Jessie Abernethy, 10 Ellis Street, Gordon Campbell Abernethy, age thirty-six, height 5 ft. 11 in., painter, native of New Zealand, medium build, fresh complexion, dark hair, hazel eyes ; fond of drink; slovenly appearance and gait, Arrears computed to 16th August last.

Dunedin. —22nd ultimo, on warrant of commitment to Paparua Prison for six months in default of. paying £33 11s. arrears due on a maintenance order for the support of his wife, Jane Herd, Mosgiel, and three children, Harold Warner Reid, age about forty, height 5 ft. 10 in., shearer and labourer, native of New Zealand, stout build, fresh complexion, dark hair, blue eyes, clean-shaved ; dressed in a grey sac suit and cap; impediment in speech ; fond of drink, and he is at present the subject of a prohibition order.
