Whilst under the influence of liquor, John Arthur Reinsfield, labourer, 41 Khyber Pass Road, was assaulted by the accused, who also stole from him a ladies’ silver wristlet watch with luminous dial, and £3 18s. in cash. No warrants.

Auckland. l2th instant, for theft of a £2O-note, the property of David Griffin, contractor, Okaihau, Bay of Islands, Man (name unknown), age about forty, height 5 ft. 8 in., stout build, ruddy complexion, clean-shaved ; dressed in a dark suit and tweed cap : and Russell (name probably fictitious), age about thirty, height 5 ft. 9 in., slight build, dark complexion, clean-shaved; well dressed in a dark suit and felt hat. The first accused, who met complainant on the street, invited him to have a drink, and in the Imperial Hotel introduced the other accused as “ Russell,” a bookmaker, to whom complainant gave a £2O-note to make three bets of 10s. each on certain racehorses. Russell left the bar, stating he would return with the change, and the other accused left soon afterwards, saying he would look for Russell. No warrants.

Auckland. —l7th ultimo, for theft of £7 10s. from the person of William John Croolcall, ironmoulder, 18 Warwick Street, Man (name unknown), age about forty-three, height

about 5 ft. 9 in., stout build, sallow complexion, small eyes; well dressed in a grey tweed suit and light-coloured felt hat. Whilst in a throng outside the Town Hall £7 10$. as stolen from complainant’s pocket, and he suspects the above - described man, who was moving about among the people. No warrant.

Complainant, Frank Karl, farmer, Putaruru, in whose care the children were left by Scholium when his wife died in 1916.

Wairoa. —19th ultimo, on warrant for failing to comply with the terms of a maintenance order for the support of his child, Percival Richard Clark, Percival Oliver Clark, age thirtyfive, height 5 ft. 11 in., hotel cook and labourer, native of New Zealand, slight build, dark complexion, curly black hair, grey eyes, long features, long aquiline nose, left toes broken, scar on abdomen, flat feet; a quarter-caste Negro ; dressed in a navy-blue serge suit and grey felt hat; walks lame ; fond of drink and gambling.
