Te Aroha. —Bth instant, that he may be located and the Inspector of Police, Hamilton, informed of his whereabouts, Patrick Sheehan, age about thirty-six, height about 5 ft. 7 in., hawker and canvasser, stout build, fresh complexion, darkbrown hair, clean-shaved, full features ; well diessed. He may be hawking suit-lengths, rugs, &c., in country districts, and he may also be canvassing for orders for the Dominion Tailoring Company, Auckland. He gave an unstamped receipt for £2 to Robert Botham, farmer, Manawaru, and, if he is located, information is to be sent to the Inspector of Police, Hamilton, who will forward the file.

New Plymouth. — Frederick James Wilson, obtaining credit by fraud. It has been ascertained by the Wanganui and New Plymouth police that he is not identical with James Wil on, alias Wilton, referred to in Police Gazette, 1926, page 549. He may be found hawking polishes, soap, writing-pads, & c. (See Police Gazette, 1926, page 630.)

ITawera.—On or about the 29th September last, on warrant for false pretences, Bertram Frederick Whitmore, age twenty-two, height 5 ft. 7 in., salesman, native of New Zealand, slight build, fair long hair, clean-shaved ; usually dressed in a blue suit and well-worn black shoes. Accused, who was employed by Purser and Suisted selling the “ New Zealand Draughtless Doorpad,” obtained board, value £4 l/s., from Arthur Dennison Hall, boardinghouse-keeper, by falsely representing that his employers were paying those expenses.

Napier. —l4th ultimo, on two warrants of commitment to Napier Prison for twenty-four hours and one month respectively in default of paying 13s. and £5 3s. fines and costs for drunkenness and obscene language, David Davis, age twentysix, height 6 ft., labourer, native of Australia, strong build, fair complexion, light-brown hair, blue eyes, “ D.D.” on left wrist, heart on right forearm. Wanganui. —sth instant, on warrant for false pretences’ Frederick Colley, age about forty-nine, height 5 ft. 4 in.’ baker, stout build, sallow complexion, dark hail and eyes, full fat face ; dressed in a navy-blue suit, grey felt hat, tan boots and fawn raincoat, quick gait; plausible manner; smart appearance. Accused obtained £45 from Vincent Evans, school-teacher, by falsely representing that he had £9OO coming to him from Sydney, and that he had on option to take shares in Newsome’s Bread Company, Wanganui, by whom he was employed. He may be accompanied by his wife (age about forty-nine, height about 5 ft. 3 in., medium build, dark hair, round pleasant face, scar on right jaw ; dressed in a navy-blue costume and round bright creamcoloured straw hat; Scoth accent), and he may endeavour to leave this Dominion. McAllister (name probably fictitious), age about nineteen, slight build, dark complexion and hair ; dressed in a brown suit. The bicycle was stolen from Cole’s Buildings, The Square, and sold by a man of the description given to an Auctioneering firm at Marton. No warrant.

Palmerston North. Bth instant, on warrant of commitment to Wellington Prison for three days in default of paying £1 10s. fine and costs for being unlawfully on licensed premises, Fritz Oliver Johansen, age thirty, height 5 ft. 9 in., native of Sweden, strong build, fresh complexion, brown hair, clean-shaved. Wellington.— 9th instant, for failing to comply with the conditions of his release upon probationary license, Albert Thomas, alias Alan William Beasley, alias Alan William George, age twenty height 5 ft. 8£ in., seaman, native of New Zealand, fresh complexion, brown hair, blue eyes, long nose, scar on back of left hand, on left wrist, on right knee, and on right fore and middle fingers. His license has been cancelled and his return to the nearest prison is desired. No action is to be taken after the 10th February, 1927, on which date his period of probation expires. Jeffries, alias I. Rankin, age twenty-six, height 5 ft. 7 in., seaman or labourer, fresh complexion; dressed in a grey dirty suit with white stripes, and fawn felt hat. The property was stolen from a bedroom in the Waverley Private Hotel, and it was sold to dealers by a man of the description given. No warrant.

Greymoutii. —l9th July last, on warrant for theft of £9 55., the property of the Silver Pine Sawmilling Company, Nelson Creek, Thomas Gillard, age about thirty-seven, height 5 ft. 7 in., engine-driver, native of England, medium build, sallow complexion, dark hair, grey eyes, long straight nose ; thin features ; dressed in a dark-grey suit and cap. Accused, who was employed by the above company, was paid off on the 18th July last. Next day at Ngahere he met the manager of the sawmill and falsely stated that he had not been paid. The manager gave him a cheque for £9 55., which accused cashed at the Royal Hotel, Greymouth, and disappeared.

Hokitika. l2th instant, that summonses for theft and false pretences may be served upon him, James Gardiner, * alias Nelson, age thirty, height 5 ft. 7 in., sawmill hand, native of New Zealand, slight build, fair complexion, lightbrown hair, clean-shaved ; dressed in a dark-tweed suit and light-tweed cap ; plausible manner. He was last heard of in Hokitika on 26th July last. There are other charges pending.
