Auckland. — l9th ultimo, from Maurice Avenue, the property of JOHN FOULKES, 12 St. James Square, a gentlemen’s grey-tweed overcoat, two pleats and half-belt at back, two side pockets with flaps and breast pocket on outside, brown lining; value, £2 10s. . On the 17th ultimo the dwelling of JAMES HENDERSON FRATER, 4 City Road, was broken into and the following stolen therefrom : A gentlemen’s grey suit and navy-blue suit (recovered) ; and a mahogany eight-day clock, arch top, round dial with English figures, and “ Smcrton, maker, Newmarket,” thereon : total value, £l2 10s. Suspicion is attached to Fred Sommers, (name probably fictitious), age about twenty - four, height about sft. 7 in., medium build, and John Nesbitt, (name probably fictitious) age about twenty-seven, height about 5 ft.

Thames. — EVANS’ watch, &c., stolen : It has been ascertained by the Auckland police that the suspect, George Spearpoint, left for Sydney on the s.s. “ Ulimaroa ” on the 23rd April last. (See Police Gazette, 1926, page 582.)

Ohura. —On or about January, 1923, from Mahirakau, the property of GEORGE CECIL WOTTON, Puketawera Station, Te Karaka, a -32 Stevens Favourite rifle, No. Y. 87 ; value, £2 12s. fid. Identifiable.

Feilding. — On the 16th or 17th August last the shop of HENRY GEORGE STEWART, 29 Grey Street, was broken into, and £1 ss. in coppers and a small butcher’s apron with patch on breast stolen therefrom. Masterton. — 28th August last, from Queen Street, the property of ROBERT MORTIMER MOSS, Waltons Avenue, a gentlemen’s black-enamelled free-wheel bicycle, 22 in. frame, black grips, one B.S.A. pedal, “J. Cairns ” stamped on front; value, £4. ’ Identifiable.

Wellington. —On the 27th or 28th ultimo the premises of WHITEHEAD AND PEARS, 120 Cuba Street, were broken into, and the following stolen therefrom : A ladies’ black artificial silk coat, square collar, tucked pleats on cuffs, tucks at sides, two black bone buttons on each side; a ladies’ fawn artificial-silk coat, tucks in cuffs, box-pleats at sides ; a ladies’ navy-blue two-piece costume, bound with black braid ; a ladies’ light-fawn serge costume, mauve-silk border on skirt, collar, and cuffs ; a black-taffeta-silk frock, with two rows of rucking at bottom ; a navy-blue-serge coatfrock, trimmed with henna; and a brown costume coat, three flap pockets and one breast pocket, brown biscuit-colour silk lining : total value, £35 14s. fid. Wellington.— 2nd August last, from 96 Abel Smith Street, the property of ALBERT ERNEST WILLIAM MISON, a brown-leather portmanteau, lock on each end, “ A.E.W.M.” in gold letters on outside, pigskin label attached ; and an Auto-Strop safety razor : total value, £4 Iss. Identifiable. Suspicion is attached to Albert Van Bockel, alias Arthur Millar, age about twenty-two, height about 5 ft. 4 in., labourer, native of America, stout build, fair complexion and hair, clean-shaved, burn-scar on back of left hand ; usually dressed in a navy-blue or dark-grey suit, blue-nap overcoat, and Borsalino hat with light band.

Wellington. 23rd August last, from Lambton Quay, the property of the OCEAN ACCIDENT ASSURANCE COMPANY (LIMITED), a gentlemen’s black-enamelled free-wheel Special Model No. 1 Royal Horse Coventry bicycle, No. 999 or 666, 21 in. frame, upturned handles, Johnston Saddlery Company, Birmingham, saddle, No. 44116 value, £5. Christchurch. —Between April last and the 25th June the dwelling of MABEL LESLIE DAMPIER-CROSSLEY, 142 Esplanade, New Brighton, was broken into and the following stolen therefrom : Five dark-grey double blankets ; eleven dark-grey blankets, with blue, black, and red stripes; a light-grey double blanket, with fringe ; six crystal tumblers ; a set of carvers, with plated handles ; twelve each of stainless knives, forks, dessert-spoons, and teaspoons; eight tablespoons ; set of three yellow pepper, salt, and mustard containers ; a gentlemen’s Ballantyne raincoat, “H.
