Between July, 1923, and 25th May last, from an unoccupied house, the property of MARGARET COCHRANE and others, Gore, a ladies’ open-face gold watch, flower on back of case ; a large greenstone heart with fern in centre ; a round gold medal, with “ Presented to James Murdoch by the farmers of Southland ” engraved on back ; a gentlemen’s open-face silver watch ; a double silver curb watch-chain, gold centre, “ A present from mother ’’engraved thereon ; and a quantity of bed-linen and ladies’ underclothing : total value, about £l7. Suspicion is attached to Walter Reid, age about thirty, height 5 ft. 10 in., taxi-driver, native of New Zealand, medium build, dark complexion, brown hair and eyes, cleanshaved, front teeth gold-filled ; usually dressed in a grey suit, blue overcoat, and khaki shirt. Identifiable.

Auckland. —27th ultimo, from a motor-car outside St. Mark’s Church, Remuera, the property of KEITH CUTTEN, Penrose, a gentlemen’s brown-velour overcoat, belt at back, “ Keith Cutten ” printed on lining ; value, £5. Identifiable.

Auckland. —l7th ultimo, from the Commercial Travellers’ Club, Durham Street, the property of JAMES RAMSON, an overcoat (recovered); value, £2 10s. Suspicion is attached to A. Duncan, age about thirty-five, height 5 ft. 7 in., medium build, fair complexion and hair, scar on left cheek ; dressed in a navy-blue suit, light-felt hat, and brown shoes. The description is that of a man who pawned the coat, together with an umbrella which was stolen at the same time. Auckland.— 26th or 27th ultimo, from pens in New North Road, Mount Albert, the property of the AUCKLAND POULTRY-KEEPERS’ ASSOCIATION, six White Leghorn pullets, steel bands on legs, numbered 142-3, 143-1, 143-3, 144-1, 144-2, and 144-3, pullets with numbers 143—1 and 143-3 have two small holes punched in web of one foot, and those numbered 144-1, 144-2, and 144-3 have one claw of left foot cut short and hole punched in web of foot; total value, £3O. Identifiable.

Auckland. —T Ith instant, from the s.s. “ Pawlett,” the property of ARTHUR X. MERZ, a pair of Zeiss binoculars, adjustable lens with “ 6.X.24 ” thereon ; a gold-plated Gillette safety razor in a greenish case ; and two hair-brushes in a black-leather case : total value, £lB. Identifiable.

Onehunga. —Between the Ist and 11th ultimo, from a mill at Coronation Road, Mangere, the property of FREDERICK ASHBY, 43 Gillies Avenue, Epsom, a three-quarter size Price’s timber-jack, and a worn military tent, 18 ft. by 20 ft. ; total value, £9 10s. Identifiable.

Onehunga. —lsth ultimo, from an empty house in Beckenham Avenue, the property of CHARLES JAMES ANDERSON, 7 Disraeli Street, Richmond, a gentlemen’s navy-blue suit, small size, James Wilson maker, “Jim Wilson” on trousers-buttons ; and 15s. in money : total value, £l2 15s. Identifiable except money.

Huntly. —Between the 7th and 23rd ultimo, from a shearing-shed at Woodleigh, the property of CHARLES EDWIN BONE, two shearing-machine hand-pieces with narrow forks, one hand-piece with wide forks, three medium size combs, and six medium size cutters, all stamped “ Lister and Coy, Makers ” ; and four wide combs and seven wide cutters, all stamped “ Wolsley and Coy, Makers ” : total value, £2O. Identifiable. Suspicion is attached to Rau Tuku, age thirty-five, height 5 ft. 9 in., labourer, Maori, medium build, copper complexion, black hair, brown eyes. He has been interviewed, but no evidence resulted.

Dunedin. —l4th instant, between Dunedin and Clyde, the property of the NEW ZEALAND GOVERNMENT (Post and Telegraph Department), a letter containing an imprest cheque for £24 35., No. 565053 (first three figures crossed out with blue pencil), dated 15th July, 1926, marked free of exchange at Clyde, signed “ W. Mathieson,” and payable to C. H. McGlone, sergeant of police.

Invercargill. Between the 17th and 19th instant the premises of J. J. WARD AND CO., wool and skin buyers, were broken into, and the following stolen therefrom : Two sacks containing 880 rabbit-skins, sacks branded “ W. 1.” with red paint; total value, £52. Sacks only identifiable.
