Auckland. 29th ultimo, on warrant for failing to comply with the terms of a maintenance order for the support of his illegitimate child, of whom Isobel MacGregor, 47 George Street, Newmarket, is the mother, Henry Bretz, age about thirty-five, height oft. 11 in., labourer and seaman, medium build, dark complexion, black hair, brown eyes, clean-shaved. Gtsborne. — Eldon Lawrence Geeves, default of maintenance : It has been ascertained by the Queen Street Wharf (Auckland) police that he left Auckland on the 11th ultimo by the s.s. “ Marama ” under the name E. Peters. (See Police Gazette, 1926, page 440.)

Tokaanu. — 12th instant, for escaping trom Rangipo Prison, Sylvester Leo Hannan, age twenty-six, height 5 ft. 6£ in., labourer, native of New Zealand, medium build, fresh complexion, red hair, blue eyes ; dressed in brown trousers and coat, and brown slippers. Wellington. —sth instant, on warrant for failing to comply with the terms of a maintenance order for the support of his child, Henry James Burden, age forty-eight, height 5 ft. 5 in., salesman, native of England, fresh complexion, grey hair, blue eyes. Wellington. —l7th ultimo, on warrant of commitment to Wellington Prison for seven days in default of paying £2 10s. fine and costs for entering licensed premises whilst prohibited, Michael McGuirk, age forty-one, height 5 ft. in., fireman, native of England, medium build, fresh complexion, brown hair and eyes, clasped hands and heart on right wrist. Moir (name probably fictitious), age about thirtyfive, height about 5 ft. 7 in., slight build, dark-olive complexion, dark hair turinng grey ; dressed in a dark suit and fawn hat. Accused obtained ss. from Frances Hay Mackenzie, 66 Upland Road, by falsely representing that he was travelling for the Nelson Fruitgrowers (Limited) and was taking orders for half-cases of apples at ss. each. Turnbull, age about twenty-eight, height 5 ft. 8 in., labourer, slight build, dark complexion, fair hair going bald, blue large eyes, lump on right temple, tongue split in centre ; dressed in a blue suit, blue overcoat (tight at waist), grey hat, pointed shoes, and black socks ; plausible manner. Accused obtained the following articles from the Drapery and General Importing Company by falsely representing that he owned Bingley Farm, Balcaim : A ladies’ half-length musquash-fur coat, silk-brocade lining, full collar; a gentlemen’s silvermounted black-ebony walking-stick; a ladies’ nickel-plated wristlet watch with leather strap; a bowler hat, size 6f, “ D.1.C.” inside ; a pair of gentlemen’s black-kid gloves ; a pair of gentlemen’s brown -leather gloves with brown-fur lining ; a gentlemen’s blue-serge sac suit, size 5, with “ D.1.C.” on tag of coat; a gentlemen’s light-brown overcoat, “ D.1.C.” on tag ; and a Globite suit-case, with “ D.1.C.” and “ Globite ” on inside : total value, £7O 9s. He may be identical with Hercules Andrew Turnbull, alias Andrew Rutherford, alias Nichols, referred to in Police Gazette, 1926, page 81, and Photographs, 1922, page 107, and he may be accompanied by a woman.
