Devonport. — Between the 3rd and 12th ultimo the dwelling of LEO HARTMAN, 6 Tui. Street, was broken into and fifteen gramophone-records stolen therefrom ; total value, £7 10s. Not' identifiable. ‘ ' •. -

Blue coat only identifiable. Suspicion is attached to Shaw, age about twenty-five, height about sft. 6 in., medium build, pale complexion, fair hair; dressed in a blue-serge suit and grey-felt hat.

Auckland. 22nd ultimo, from the Porchester Private Hotel, the property of RONALD EDWARD PRODGERS, a gentlemen’s nickel Royal Swiss watch ; a leather watchchain, with gold flexible fish pendant attached ; and a bronze stamp-box with stone panels and round feet : total value, £5 10s. Identifiable.

Suspicion is attached to Man (name unknown), age about twenty-seven, height 5 ft. 8 in., Maori, strong build, copper complexion, dark hair ; dressed in a blue-serge coat, blue-dungaree trousers, and grey cap.

Auckland. —Between October, 1925, and January, 1926, the property of JAMES NIELSON, 17 Home Street, a 1919 model 7/9 horse-power Indian motor-cycle, twin cylinder, painted red, no gear-box; value, £lO. Identifiable. Suspicion is attached to Jack Rayner, age twenty, height 5 ft. 4 in., winemaker, medium build, fair complexion, hair, and side whiskers. Suspect was given the property to sell and afterwards informed complainant that it had been stolen. He hasjfince disappeared.- ' f

A. Lee” on inside; a tortoiseshellhandled Bengal razor, with “ Sid Lovell’s Special ” thereon ; and a pair of gentlemen’s nigger-brow-n shoes, size 6, &c. : value, £5. Identifiable.

New Plymouth. — On or about the 10th ultimo, from Devon Street, the property of GEORGE WADDINGTON DRAKE, Devon Street, a gentlemen’s black-enamelled freewheel bicycle, turned-down handles with black grips ; value, £4. Identifiable.

Manaia. During the night of the 4th ultimo the premises of CHING SHEEN CHONG, grocer, were broken into and £2 in silver stolen from the safe, which was opened by means of a duplicate key. Attention is now directed to a similar offence committed at the same premises (vide Police Gazette, 1925, page 269), when £73 in cash and cheques was stolen. On that occasion the key of the safe was stolen from complainant’s trousers -pocket whilst he was asleep and was used to open the safe. He subsequently requested that no acton be taken (vide Police Gazette, 1925, page 340), as he suspected a woman who was staying with him, but he is now of a different opinion and thinks the offence was committed by some other person. The notice appearing at the latter Police Gazette reference is therefore to be cancelled.

Hastings. —Between the 9th February last and the Ist ultimo, from a shed at 106 Lynden Road, the property of HERBERT STANLEY ROSE, 56 Pearce Street, Seatoun, Wellington, a 2J horse -power J.E.S. air-cooled petrol-engine, single cylinder, fly-wheel outside ; value, £5. Identifiable.

Taihape. — On or about the 31st March last, the property of JAMES HENRY THORPE, Mataroa, a gold curb watchchain, with a gold compass and a silver pencil-holder attached ; and three £1 notes : total value, £ls 10s. Identifiable except money. Suspicion is attached to Man (name unknown), age about thirty -seven, height about 5 ft. 11 in., strong build, fresh complexion, fair hair and moustache'; dressed in a grey coat, dark trousers, and grey-tweed hat.

Palmerston North. —29th March last, from the Aard Garage, Main Street, the property of GLADYS POWER and another, a brownish-green-canvas suit-case, “M.W.” or “ D.W.” on lid, addressed “ Dorrie Wilson, Berhampore Home, Wellington ”; a blue-silk raincoat ; a brown Cardigan ; two or three vests ; a tobralco frock ; a pair of brown lace-up shoes ; a pair of glace strap shoes ; three pairs of silk stockings ; and a pair of knickers : total value, about £9 14s. Bd. Identifiable. Suspicion is attached to a Rian (name unknown), age thirty, height about 5 ft. 7 in., medium build, dark complexion and hair; dressed in a dark suit ; sullen appearance. He called at the above garage and asked for the suit-case, which was given to him.

Shannon. —loth instant, from outside the Maoriland Theatre, the property of LESLIE ALBERT HOOK, labourer, a black -painted free-wheel Royal Saxon bicycle, back-pedal-ling brake, slightly down-turned handles with one grip missing, black mud-guards with red stripes ; value, £lO. Identifiable. The following described bicycle was left in place of the above : A black -painted Raleigh bicycle, No. 502564, back-pedalling brake, Mansfield seat, rat-trap pedals.

Featherston. — Between the 9th and 11th ultimo, from a mail-box at Rototawai, the property of WILLIAM EDWARD BIDWELL, sheep-farmer, two heavy Goodyear Balloon motor-tires, and three Goodyear tubes, size 33 x 6-75, fitted with goose-neck valves (can only be used on large Cadillac cars) ; total value, £35 3s. Identifiable.

Wellington. — On the, 15th or 16th ultimo, from the dwelling of HORACE IVATT GRAVES, law accountant, 60 Aurora Terrace, a ladies’ 18 ct. half-hoop engagement-ring, claw -set with five diamonds in platinum ; value, £35. Identifiable. Suspicion is attached to Thomas Joseph Arthur Crawford, referred to in Police Gazette, 1926, page 137, and Photographs, 1922, page 99, who has been interviewed, but no evidence resulted. ~ e - j / ..

Christchurch. — l7th December last, the property of RICHARD THOMAS LANE, fruitgrower, 89 Princes Street, Woolston, £5 10s. Suspicion is attached to Robert James Mitchell, age twenty, height 5 ft. 7 in., labourer, native of New Zealand, strong build, fair complexion, brown hair, blue eyes ; dressed in a dark-grey shabby suit and grey-felt hat. Christchurch. —13th March last, from a motor-car in Idris Road, the property of ANDREW HUGHES, motor engineer, Cambridge Terrace, an Anderson’s Dunkeld fishingrod in three sections, in brown-twill case, wooden button on handle of rod cracked ; a Hardy Perfect aluminium reel with 40 yards of line ; a spare drum of a Hardy Perfect reel; green trout-line ; a box of flies and casts ; a japanned damp-ing-box, containing gut casts, gut traces, minnows; an electric torch ; and a collapsible landing net with one arm broken : total value, £l6 15s.
