♦ Freeman’s Bay. Bth February last, from a bedroom at 75 Nelson Street, the property of NORMAN FRANCIS RICHARDS, a leather wallet, clasp fastener, four inside compartments, N. Richards, Welcome Inn Hotel,” written inside flap ; a seaman’s union book in name of complainant; and 15s. in money : total value, £1 ss. Identifiable except money. Suspicion is attached to James William Russell Hunter, age forty, height 5 ft. Ilf in., labourer and cook, native of New Zealand, strong build, dark complexion, brown hair and eyes. Auckland. — On the sth instant, the premises of the COLONIAL MOTOR COMPANY, Fox Street, were broken into, and the following stolen-therefrom : A Ford 1-ton truck painted dark green with yellow lines, registered number N.Z. 4087, engine number 423464, 30.X.3J tires on front wheels, 30.X.5 Goodyear diamond-tread tires on back wheels, two spare rims and tires attached; and four 40.X.4.40 Firestone balloon tires, &c. : total value, £IBO. Truck only identifiable. Suspicion is attached to Two Men (names unknown) — Age about twenty-eight, height about 6 ft., slight build, dark complexion and hair; dressed in dark clothes ; (2) age about twenty-eight, height about 5 ft. 9 in. strong build; dressed in a dark coat, light trousers, and cap.

Auckland. 2nd February last, from the Public Hospital, the property of HENRY COURTNEY, a gentlemen’s doublebreasted dark-blue-tweed overcoat, half-belt at back, “ Schneideman and Coy, Wanganui,” on tag; value, £6. Identifiable. Suspicion is attached to John Arthur Crawford] alias Victor James Crawford, age thirty-seven, height 5 ft. in., labourer and cook, native of New Zealand, medium build, dark complexion, brown hair, blue eyes, mole on right cheek and on right shoulder, star on right forearm ; heart, scroll, “ Sadie ” and “ Lola ” on left forearm. Identifiable. Suspicion is attached to Myra Cowley, age seventeen, height 5 ft. 7 in., factory worker, native of New Zealand, strong build, fair complexion and hair, blue eyes. She has been interviewed by the Onehunga police, but no evidence resulted.

Auckland. —22nd February last, from an office at 50 Customs Street East, the property of MALCOLM CHARLES FARRINGTON, a brown-leather wallet, two compartments, with “ With the compliments of E. C. Browne, Ltd., Queen Street, Auckland,” printed on inside; £l9 10s. in money ; a 1925-26 Auckland City Council motor-driver’s license, No. 13405 ; and an acknowledgment for 100 shares in the Taranaki Oil Company: total value, £2O. Identifiable except money.

Thames. —Between the 20th and 22nd ultimo, from a hamper while in transit by rail between Auckland and Thames, the property of MILLS, BATTS (LIMITED), merchants, 29 Victoria Street, Auckland, four ladies’ two-piece knitted woollen costumes, brush wool on collars, cuffs, and on bottoms of coats and skirts, supposed red, light-gray, mole, and tan colours ; and four ladies’ gabardine costumes with silk braiding at bottom of coats and Paisley cotton lining, supposed navy-blue, brown, mole, and henna colours : total value, £lO Bs. fid. Identification doubtful.

Hamilton. 4th ultimo, from Victoria Street, the property of LEO SCHERER, 69 River Road, Claudelands, a ladies’ black-enamelled Invicta bicycle, No. 122772; value, £4. Identifiable.

Putaruru. —Between the Ist and 4th instant, the property of the TAUPO TOTARA TIMBER COMPANY, a carpenter’s brace, with “ 409 ” stamped on shank ; an extension hacksaw ; two stocks and three dies, sizes 1 in., Jin., and Jin.; a 24 in. long aluminium spirit-level with three bulbs; a 12 in. set-square, wooden stock, with “G.S.” stamped on inside; and a Miller padlock, &c. : total value, £8 11s. fid. Mostly identifiable.

Putaruru. —Between the Bth and 10th instant the store of ROSE BROS.’ Tirau, was broken into, and the following stolen therefrom : Two pairs of gentlemen’s King Cole boots, sizes 6 and 8 ; a pair of ladies’ black lace-up Bostock shoes, size 6 ; a pair of ladies’ white tennis-shoes, size 4; a greencanvas horse-cover ; twelve gentlemen’s white-striped shirts ; a Big Ben alarm-clock ; and a quantity of shirts, socks, singlets, tobacco, &c. : total value, £37 15s. 9d. Identifiable by private marks only.

\ Dunedin. — On the 6th or 7th instant the office of DAVID LIVINGSTONE, auctioneer, Princes Street, was broken into, and about £1,400 in money stolen therefrom. Not identifiable. Suspicion is attached to Man (name unknown), age about thirty-five, height about 5 ft. 10 in., medium build, fair complexion, fair or brown hair, clean-shaved ; dressed in a brown suit and light-grey-felt hat; smart appearance. Suspect called at several banks at Oamaru and Christchurch and tendered a large number of small notes, receiving in exchange larger notes, among which were seven £lO notes on the Bank of New Zealand, Nos. M 10524, M 009999, M 007059, 120134, 142538, 142733, and 168611, and two £SO notes, one on the Bank of New Zealand and one on the Union Bank of Australia. Complainant has entered into an agreement to pay £IOO reward for the recovery of all the money stolen, or if the full amount is not recovered, 10 per cent, of the actual amount recovered, on conviction of the person or persons who stole it.
