In Vincent Street about 7.30 p.m. the accused assaulted Augustus Boulton, plumber, 12 Hargreaves Street, Ponsonby, and robbed him of two notes and 7s. 6d. No warrants, fa Q .

Mokau. — 16th February last, for failing to comply with the conditions of Iris release upon probation (Offenders Probation Act, 1920), Bertie Laurence Ardley, alias Laurie Ardiey, age twenty, height 5 ft. 44 in., basketmaker and farm hand, native of Australia, medium build, fresh complexion, fair hair, blue eyes, -shaved, birth-mark on top of head ; usually dressed in a blue suit, brown shoes, and grey-felt hat; smart appearance. Accused, who was employed as accountant, drew a cheque for the above amount and disappeared. He sent a telegram on the 2nd instant from Christchurch to his wife at Levin. Dunedin.— l2th instant, that a summons for breach of the Dunedin City By-laws may be served upon him, Henry John Bell, age thirty, height 5 ft. 9 in., timber agent, native of New Zealand, medium build, fair complexion and hair, sharp features ; usually dressed in a dark suit and soft hat.

McLaughlan (name probably fictitious), age about thirty-three, height about 5 ft. 7 in., strong build, fair complexion, round features ; dressed in a fawn-coloured suit and soft-felt hat. Accused obtained from Alexander Dickie, storepeeker, St. Clair, goods (value 25.) and £4 16s. cash by means of a valueless cheque for £4 18s., signed “J. McLaughlan.” No warrant.
