PERSONS WANTED.

Whangarei. —lsth December last, on warrant of commitment to Whangarei Prison for three days in default of paying £2 11s. fine and costs for furious driving, Thomas Brown, age about thirty, height 5 ft. 8 in., carrier, native of New Zealand, medium build, fresh complexion, dark hair; usually dressed in a grey suit and soft-felt hat.

Auckland. — Richard Henry Ridings, default of maintenance and breach of probation : It has been ascertained by the Auckland police that he has assumed the name D. Ryan, and sent a telegram in that name on the 9th November last from Taumarunui to his late employer at Devonport. (See Police Gazette 925, page 730, and 1926, page 116.) ~ J?£p- >

Auckland. l3th ultimo, that two summonses may be served upon him, Thomas Roberts, age thirty-five, height 5 ft. 7 in., fireman and trimmer, native of England, strong build, ruddy complexion, blue eyes, full face ; wearing greyishtweed overcoat; fond of drink.

Auckland. loth instant, on warrant of commitment to Auckland Prison for two months in default of paying £1 Is. 3d., arrears due on a maintenance order, Iris Mark Koggard, age thirty height 5 ft. in., labourer, native of New Zealand, medium build, fresh complexion, grey hair going bald, grey eyes, mole on right cheek. Auckland. instant, that he may be compelled to maintain his two children, inmates of Auckland Receivinghome, John Edward Jenkinson, age thirty, height 5 ft. 10-f in., seaman and labourer, native of England, medium build, fresh complexion, fair hair, blue eyes, scar under right eye, on one lip, on left forefinger, and on right palm. Auckland. — 19th January last, on two warrants of commitment to Auckland Prison in default of paying £8 6s. (£3 3s. and £5 35.) fines and costs for drunkenness and breach of his prohibition order, Richard Bryant, alias Reginald James O’Brien, age fifty-nine, height 5 ft. in., labourer, native of New Zealand, medium build, fair complexion, brown hair, grey eyes, scar on chin, on right eyebrow, and on tip of left little finger. Auckland. —6th instant, for failing to comply with the conditions of his release upon probation (Offenders Probation Act, 1920), Stanley Bradford Baker, age twenty-six, height 5 ft. 11 in., labourer and seaman, native of New Zealand, medium build, fair complexion and hair, blue eyes, Britannia, heart, and anchor on right forearm, lifebuoy, anchor, flag, and Ethel on left forearm. His arrest is desired. When arrested he is to be interviewed regarding his alleged buggery with Arthur Norman Shalles, who is now awaiting trial on a similar charge. Auckland. —23rd November last, that he may be interviewed regarding a forged cheque for £5 Bs. on the Bank of Australasia, Auckland, which was uttered to James McGowan and Co., grocers, New North Road, Mount Albert, who cashed it, Cecil Mark Brown, alias Cecil Mcßean Brown, age thirty-eight, height 5 ft. 10| in., contractor, native of New Zealand, strong build, fresh complexion, brown hair, blue eyes, ring on left forefinger, scar on right middle finger; usually dressed in a dark suit and felt hat. He was formerly employed by W. McQuoid, whose signature was forged to the cheque. JThe cheque form was one of three (Nos. D. 205317, D. 205322, and D. 205327), which were purchased at the above bank by an unknown man. (See Police Gazette, 1925, page s«h>, and Photographs, 1913, page 24.) .

Auckland. instant, that he may be interviewed regarding a balance of £165 7s. lid. owing on a loan advanced to him by the Repatriation Department, Claude Daniel Ogier, age thirty-two, height 5 ft. 6^- in., labourer, native of Channel Islands, fair complexion, brown hair, hazel eyes ; fond of drink. Hamilton. instant, that he may/be interviewed regarding alleged bigamy by his wife * A Trim a Clarice Hazel Wendt, Herman Rudolph Wendt, alias John Bertram Howard, alias John Willis, aliagr Smith, alias' Vernon/ aKas Murphy, alias John Davis, age forty -si*,{height 6 ft., labourer, native of Tasmania, fresh complexion, dark-brown hair, hazel eyes, scar on left little finger and on tip of left ring-finger. Gisborne. — Gordon Smith Wilkinson, theft : It has been ascertained by the Wellington police that accused left Wellington for Sydney (Australia) by the s.s. “ Marama ” on the sth instant. He described himself as a theatrical artist, age twenty-five. (See Police Gazette, 1926, page 143.)

New Plymouth. — l9th instant, on warrant of commitment to New Plymouth Prison for twenty-four hours in default of paying Bs. fid. costs for drunkenness, Timothy Brady, age thirty-eight, height 5 ft. 8 in., bushman and labourer, native of New Zealand, medium build, fresh complexion, brown hair, grey eyes, four upper front teeth missing ; sailor, woman, and Union Jack on right foreaim. , ' ,a) /

Normanby. 9th January last, on warrant of commitment to New Plymouth Prison for fourteen days in default of paying £5 13s. fine and costs for failing to register under the Defence Act, Walter James Corrigan, age twenty-four, height 5 ft. in., labourer and motor-car driver, native of New Zealand, slight build, pale complexion, light-brown hair, blue eyes, boil-scar on right forearm, right ring-finger nail split. Taiuape. —2sth instant, that he may be interviewed regarding his failure to notify, in accordance with the provisions of the Arms Act, his change of address from Waiouru, James Robertson, age forty-one, height 6 ft. 1 in., rabbiter, native of New Zealand, strong build, fresh complexion, fair hair and moustache. He was last heard of at Tangiwai, near Ohakune, in July, 1922.

Wanganui. — instant, that a summons for ill-treating a horse at Dannevirke may be served upon him, Harry Cahill, alias “ Queensland Harry,” age thirty-five, height about 5 ft. 11 in., circus-proprietor, Australian aboriginal, bushy-black hair, black eyes ; usually wears riding breeches and leggings. He conducts a small circus and shows at country towns.

Upper Hutt. —lßth ultimo, on warrant of commitment to Wellington Prison for three days in default of paying £1 ss. fine and costs for riding a bicycle on the footpath, C. O’Malley, age twenty-two, height 5 ft. 8 in., telegraph messenger, native of New Zealand, medium build, dark complexion and hair. /Xd 5/6/

Wellington. —23rd instant, on warrant for failing to comply with the terms of a maintenance order for the support of his wife, Alice Wilkin, Laurence Wilkin, height 5 ft. 7 in., medium build, straight dark-brown hair, blue eyes, short straight nose, bust of Maori woman on left forearm ; dressed in light-grey trousers, tweed coat, light-felt hat, and tan boots ; pleasant features. His photograph is filed in the Superintendent’s Office, Wellington. Arrears to 15th ultimo, £l3 4s. G> •

Wellington. — Roy Bertram Corey, failing to maintain : It has been ascertained by the Wellington police that he left Wellington for Sydney (Australia) by the s.s. “Manuka” on the 24th ultimo. He assumed the name Augustine Barrett. (See Police Gazette, 1926, page 175.)

Wellington. 26th instant, on warrant of commitment to Wellington Prison for one month in default of paying £2O 6s. fine and costs for being drunk in charge of a motor-bicycle, William George Rosa Brown, age twenty -five, height 5 ft. 8 in., labourer, native of New Zealand, medium build, fresh complexion, dark hair, blue eyes. Wellington. 23rd instant, on warrant for failing to maintain his wife, Ellen Edwards, 4 Myrtle Crescent, and two children, Wilfred Smith Edwards, age thirty, height 5 ft. 7 in., labourer, native of England, strong build, fair complexion and hair, blue eyes, right forefinger deformed; usually dressed in a brown suit and cap; lazy and fond of drink. Wellington. l4th December last, that three summonses for assault and offensive behaviour in a railway-carriage, &c., may be served upon him, John Wightman, age about twentyeight, height 5 ft. 8 in., labourer and lineman, native of Scotland, fair complexion and hair, blue eyes; usually dressed in a grey suit and light-felt hat.

Christchurch. 3rd instant, on warrant of commitment to Paparua Prison for two months in default of paying £44, arrears due on a maintenance order for the support of his wife, Evelyn Jones, Harry Thomas Benjamin Jones, age twenty-four, height 5 ft. 5 in., motorman, native of England, fresh complexion, brown hair, grey eyes, large nose. Christchurch. —l7th November last, on warrant for obtaining credit by fraud, C. Williams, age about twenty-three, height sft. 6in., medium build, dark freckled complexion; dressed in a grey-tweed suit and grey cap. Accused produced to Whitcombe and Tombs, stationers, Cashel Street, an order purporting to be drawn by the Home Supply Company, Christchurch, and obtained on credit a day-book, three writing-blocks, four packets of envelopes, a 24-in. leather suit-case, a box of pencils, and six pens ; total value, £4 18s. Bd. The order was subsequently found to have been forged.

Christchurch.— 3lst January last, that a summons for being found on the licensed premises of the Zetland Hotel during prohibited hours may be served upon him, William Michael, age fifty-seven, height 5 ft. 8 in., miner, native of Ireland, medium build, ruddy complexion, brown hair turning grey, blue eyes, carbuncle above right eye, scar on left thumb.

Timaru. — 7th April, 1922, on warrant for theft of a gentlemen’s bicycle (recovered), value £3 10s., the property of Frederick Geoffrey draper’s assistant, Arthur Sutherland, age about thirty x<. height 5 ft. 10 in., butcher, native of Australia, slight build, fresh complexion, fair hair ; well dressed. In August, 1923, accused, who was employed at the Pareora Freezing-works, gave F. Cave, tailor, Stafford Street, Timaru, the above bicycle in part-payment for a suit of clothes.

Timaru. 2oth ultimo, on warrant of commitment to Paparua Prison for four months in default of paying £2B ss. arrears due on a maintenance order, William James Boroman, age about twenty-seven, height 5 ft. 10 in., labourer, native of New Zealand, stout build, fresh complexion, dark hair. Timaru.— 27th ultimo, on warrant of commitment to Paparua Prison for six months in default of paying £27 2s. arrears due on a maintenance order for the support of his wife and child, George Tait, age forty-six, height 5 ft. 9 in., labourer, native of New Zealand, slight build, fresh complexion, curly dark hair, grey-blue eyes, fair moustache. Invercargill. — l9th ultimo, on warrant for failing to comply with the terms of a maintenance order, Mark Joseph Kelly, age twenty-seven, height 5 ft. 11 in., labourer, native of New Zealand, strong build, fair complexion, brown hair and eyes, clean-shaved, left thumb injured, burn-scar on right shin ; usually dressed in a dark-grey suit and fawn rainproof coat.
