PROPERTY STOLEN.

Auckland. October last, from His Majesty’s Theatre, the property of EDWARD CHALMERS HUIE, Dyer’s Pass Road, Christchurch, a gentlemen’s pepper-and-salt overcoat, herring-bone pattern, -quarter-lined with grey silk, belt on back, “ H. 8.” brand on tab ; and a dark-blue scarf with white stripes : total value, £8 10s. Identifiable.

Putaruru. —3rd October last, from a hut at Tokoroa, the property of WILLIAM GALVIN, a gentlemen’s -tweed overcoat, belt at back, side pockets and breast-pocket on outside ; a white shirt with pink stripes, size 3 ; a white hair-comb ; a black camel-hair brush ; a blue necktie with white spots ; and £1 12s. 6d. in money : total value, £5 7s. Identifiable except money. Suspicion is attached to Harold Firth, age twenty-one, height about 5 ft. 6 in., labourer, medium build, fresh complexion, very fair hair, broken twisted nose : dressed in a grey suit, light-felt hat, and tan shoes. Suspect was given the money to buy a pair of shoes for complainant, with whom he was working on the Forest-tree-planting Estate, but cleared out and failed to return the money. The other articles were taken without authority.

Gisborne. —On or about the 31st October last, from the Royal Hotel, the property of RODERICK GRACE, a gentlemen’s double-breasted black woollen overcoat, vent in back, large collar, large black buttons ; and a pair of gentlemen’s buckskin gloves : total value, £B. Identifiable. Suspicion is attached to Albert Bibby, alias Bert Collins, age forty-one, height 5 ft. 9 in., travelling photographer, native of New Zealand, medium build, fresh complexion, dark hair going bald, grey eyes, fern and snake on right forearm ; dressed in a brown suit and light-felt hat. He has been interviewed, but no evidence resulted. (See Police Gazette, 1924, page 597, and Photographs, page 65.)

Taujiarunui.l4th ultimo, from Marea Street, the property of HAROLD REGINALD STREET, Otunui, an undressed light-brown Japonica leather riding-saddle, English knee and thigh pads, square-cut flaps and skirt, bar-plated tree, new stirrup-irons and straps ; value, £5. Identifiable.

Tathape.— CO-OPERATIVE DAIRY COMPANY’S slippers stolen : Three pairs of the slippers have been recovered by the Taihape police and William George Hagan and Barbara Hagan charged with receiving same. (See Police Gazette, 1925, page 356.)

—Between the 21st and 23rd September last, from a concrete-mixer at Lower Hutt, the property of the NEW ZEALAND GOVERNMENT (Railways Department), a single-cylinder cog-driven Bosch magneto; value, £7. Identification doubtful.

Wellington. Between the 2nd and 7th ultimo, from the Muritai Road, the property of EDWARD THOMAS SAUNDERS, 164 Adelaide Road, a twin-cylinder Douglas motor-bicycle, registration number N.Z. 6735, wide handles, black grip on left handle, black-painted rims, Michelin tire on back wheel, Non-Skid tire on front wheel, Brooks saddle ; value, £3O. Identifiable.

Christchurch.lßth June last, from the Canterbury College, the property of JAMES LINDSAY ALLAN, 37 Hoon Hay Road, a gentlemen’s black-enamelled Butler bicycle, No. 0573, curved handles, Dunlop tires ; value, £7. Identifiable.

Christchurch.22nd August last, from Nursery Road, Linwood, the property of .JOHN THOMAS WAKESFIELD, 38 Nursery Road, a gentlemen’s black-enamelled free-wheel Sun bicycle, No. 53261, curved handles; value, £6 10s. Identifiable.

Christchurch. —12th August last, from Lichfield Street, the property of WALTER HENRY HADDRELL, 121 Park Street, a gentlemen’s free-wheel B.S.A. bicycle, No. 8533941842, black-enamelled with green lines, upturned handles, Dunlop tires ; value, £l9. Identifiable.

Christchurch. —4th .Tune last, from the Addington Football-grounds, the property of DOUGLAS JOHN SOMERVILLE, 100 Hansen’s Road, a gentlemen’s blackenamelled fixed-wheel Sports bicycle, No. 49, wide upturned handles, Mosely tires ; value, £B. Identifiable.

Christchurch. August last, from the Grosvenor Hotel, the property of THOMAS SCOLLARD, 116 Carlyle Street, a gentlemen’s blue-enamelled fixed-wheel Gamage bicycle, No. 4950, 22 in. frame, adjustable handles, BarnetGlass tires ; value, £ls 10s. Identifiable.

Christchurch. —19th August last, from outside the G.P.0., the property of GEORGE LOGAN TALBOT, 07 Knowles Street, a gentlemen’s black-enamelled free-wheel Butler bicycle, No. 0741, 22 in. frame ; value, £8 10s. Identifiable.

Christchurch.l4th August last, from the Addington Racecourse, the property of GEORGE GEE, 74 Hoon Hay Road, a gentlemen’s black-enamelled free-wheel Swift bicycle, No. 20767/547-281, 22 in. frame ; value, £ls. Identifiable.

Christchurch. Between the 14th and 21st September last, from the dwelling of WILLIAM HENRY HILL, 103 Poulson Street, two ladies’ open-face gold watches, chased on back ; and a gun-metal wristlet watch with leather strap attached ; total value, £lO. Identifiable.

Christchurch.—On the 16th or 17th October last the premises of ARCHBOLD AND SONS, High Street, were broken into, and the following stolen therefrom : A Climax portable gramophone in oak case, a portable oak gramophonerecord case, and about 30 Edison-Bell and Winner gramo-phone-records ; total value, £lO. Not identifiable.

Christchurch. —31st August last, from Manchester Street, the property of JOHN FRANCIS KELLY, 467 Hereford Street, a gentlemen’s black-enamelled free-wheel B.S.A. bicycle, No. 28112, 22 in. frame ; value, £4 10s. Identifiable.

Christchurch. —17th September last, from Lichfield Street, the property of ROBERT MAHALM, 19 Dormer Street, a gentlemen’s black-enamelled fixed-wheel New Hudson bicycle, No. E 38987, 22 in. frame ; value, £l2. Identifiable.

Christchurch.—l2th September last, from the person of WILLIAM FREDERICK STONE, Selwyn Terrace, a gentlemen’s 9 ct. gold chain, long links, composed of three bars welded together, separated by two round links, swivel at each end, gold-mounted greenstone pendant and heart-shaped stone with gold shield in centre attached ; value, £lO. Identifiable. Suspicion is attached to Tasman James Huston, age twentythree, height 5 ft. 10|- in., labourer, native of New Zealand, medium build, fresh complexion, light-brown hair brushed back, grey eyes, scar over left eye ; dressed in a light-grey suit, no hat. Dunedin. —14th ultimo, the property of ALEXANDER MAIN, Sawyer’s Bay, a gentlemen’s rolled-gold hunting keyless watch, No. 4439684; and a 9 ct. gold curb watchchain, with Kruger sovereign attached : total value, £l2. Identifiable. Suspicion is attached to a Man (name unknown), age about twenty-five, height 5 ft. 6 in., medium build, dark hair, -shaved ; dressed in a blue suit and grey-felt hat; smart appearance.
