Retirement on Pension under Section 35, Public Service Classification and Superannuation Act, 1908. Superintendent Norwood, Samuel Percival. 26th October, 1925. Memorandum.] Police Interviewing Children at Public Schools. Objection has been taken by an Education Board to children at public schools being interviewed by police in uniform. There may be cases in which it is not expedient to comply with the wishes of the Board, but as a general rule when it becomes necessary to interview children at a public school' the police should be in plain clothes, and the headmaster should be asked to arrange the interview, and, unless serious objection exists to his. being present, he should be requested to witness it. ■ In many cases his presence will assist the police in obtaining the truth. A. H. Wright, Commissioner of Police. ; Wellington, 13th November, 1925. (P. 25/1279.)
