Whang —l9th ultimo, on warrant for attempting to leave New Zealand with intent to disobey a maintenance order for the support of his wife, 10 Rose Road, Grey Lynn, William Finn, age fifty-three, height 5 ft. 4 in., fireman, r "L" .

native of England, slight build, fair complexion, light-brown hair, blue eyes, clean-shaved, headstone on left forearm, woman on right forearm ; dressed in a dark suit and blackor -velour hat; pigeon-toed ; speaks with a drawl. He is expected to return to this Dominion by the s.s. “ Wairuna ” about next month.

Queen Street Wharf (Auckland). —2nd instant, on warrant for deserting from the s.s. “ Elfrieda,” Otto Schmidt, age twenty height about 5 ft. 7 in., seaman, native of Germany, stout build, fair fresh complexion, red hair, bluegrey eyes, “ Mama Liebling ” tattooed on penis ; dressed in a dark suit, light-fawn raincoat, and soft grey-felt hat; speaks very little English. Queen Street Wharf (Auckland). 24th August last, on warrant for deserting from the s.s. “ Tugela,” Vujoic Sava, age about twenty-five, height 5 ft. 10 in., trimmer, native of Servia, slight build, dark complexion and hair; speaks very little English. Auckland. — 11th August last, for failing to comply with the conditions of his release upon probation (Offenders Probation Act, 1920), Alexander Trevelyan Mellowship, age twenty-two, height 5 ft. Gin., showman and taxi-driver, native of Australia, medium build, dark complexion, black hair, brown eyes, scar on right forearm and under chin, woman on left forearm. His arrest is desired. Auckland. — ultimo, on warrant for trespass on Avondale Racecourse, Timothy Kenna, age forty-five, height 5 ft. in., clerk and labourer, native of Ireland, medium build, fair complexion, brown hair, grey eyes ; dressed in a grey suit, grey -felt hat, and tan boots. f _

Auckland. 27th February, 1918, on provisional warrant for having at Sydney (Australia) neglected to comply with the terms of a maintenance order for the support of his illegitimate child, Madeline O’Donnell, Reginald Robert Moffatt, alias James Shepherd, alias Reginald John Page, age fortytwo, height about 5 ft. 10 in., ex horse-trainer, native of South Australia, thin build, dark sallow complexion, darkbrown hair, grey to hazel eyes, three dots in circle on left forearm, anchor and crossed flags on left forearm, heart on left wrist; smartly dressed in a navy-blue suit; nervous manner. He has invented a patent motor-wheel and an advertising-machine. Arrears, £265 10s. If he pays £l5O forthwith and makes suitable arrangements to pay off the arrears and comply with the order in future he is not to be arrested. Te Aroha. —9th instant, on warrant for forgery and uttering, Jack Hamilton (name probably fictitious), age nineteen, height 5 ft. 9 in., labourer, native of New Zealand, medium build, copper complexion, black hair, brown eyes, full features ; dressed in a navy-blue suit, fawn-felt hat, and patent-leather shoes with round rubber heels; pleasant ■manner ; smart appearance ; a half-caste Maori. Accused forged the signature of Hammon Hyde to a cheque for £8 and uttered it to James Horton, boot-importer, Whitaker Street, in payment of £1 7s. fid. for a pair of boots, receiving £6 2s. fid. change. He may be identical with Fuller Anderson, alias Gilbert Anderson, referred to in Police Gazette, 1925, page 572. ci

Hamilton. —l3th May last, on warrant for theft of a motorbicycle (recovered), value £ll7, the property of William Malin Pitcher, cycle-dealer, A. D. Fraser, alias A. J. Hancock, age twenty-five, height about 5 ft. 9 in., labourer, native of England, slight build, dark complexion and hair; wearing a blue mackintosh and cap. Accused, who purchased the bicycle on the time-payment system, paid £25 on delivery and pawned it at Wellington for £lO without making any further payments.

Rotorua. lst November last, on warrant of commitment to Rotorua Prison for seven days in default of paying £4 ss. fid. fine and costs for assault, Rangitaiapa Tanu, age about thirty-eight, height 5 ft. 11 in., labourer and bushman, Maori, stout build, copper complexion, black hair, brown eyes, full face, -shaved ; dressed in a dark suit: walks with a limp. Napier. —l2th instant, on warrant for failing to maintain Theresa Hanley, Frank Erickson, alias Laurie Olson, alias Lauritz Anderson, alias Francis William Erickson, age thirty-three, height 5 ft. 9 in., linotypist, native of New Zealand, medium build, pale complexion, brown hair, hazel eyes ; usually dressed in a dark-grey suit and light hat. Hastings. —loth instant, that a summons for a breach o the Motor-vehicles Act may be served upon him, Charles Archer Bryant, age thirty-three, height 5 ft. 4| in., traveller and farm hand, native of New Zealand, medium build, fresh complexion, brown hair, blue eyes, birth-mark on left hip, scar over righ eye, tip of right forefinger missing. Feilding. —l9th ultimo, on two warrants for using threatening words and drunkenness at Awahuri, Bernard McKinnon, age about forty-two, height 5 ft. 6J in., labourer, native of New Zealand, strong build, fresh complexion, brown hair, grey eyes ; dressed in a dark-grey suit and light-grey cap. Accused called at the store of Frances Stevens, Awahuri, asked for goods on credit, and when refused said, “ I will Stick a bayonet into you.”

Eketahuna. — ultimo, on warrant for false pretences, Frederick W. Scott, age twenty-eight, height 5 ft. 8 in., traveller, slight build, fair complexion and hair, blue eyes, clean-shaved ; dressed in a grey suit (no hat). Accused obtained board, value 10s., and £4 in cash from Edith Elizabeth Goodhue by means of a valueless cheque for £4 10s.

Eketahuna— 9th instant, on warrant for theft of £5 10s., the property of Jean McLaughlan, Hamua, Arthur McMaster, age seventeen, height 5 ft. 5 in., labourer, native of New Zealand, small build, fair complexion and hair, blue eyes ; dressed in a light-grey suit (short trousers), black stockings with two blue bands, dark-grey overcoat and cap. He was licensed out from Weraroa Industrial School to Mrs. Alice Hobbs (with whom complainant was living), Hamua, from where he absconded on the 10th instant. (See Police Gazette, 1924, page 557. Nelson. —16th instant, that he may be interviewed regarding his ability to maintain his daughter, Margaret Blick, an inmate of ' Wellington Receiving Home, Charles Blick, age fifty-three, height 6 ft., labourer, native of New Zealand, strong build, fair hair.

Westport. — l2th instant, for failing to comply with the conditions of his release upon probation (Offenders Probation Act, 1920), George Williams, age thirty, height 5 ft. 4J in., seaman, native of Wales, slight build, fresh complexion, fair hair, blue eyes ; ship, Union Jack, rose, hands, flag, and butterfly on right arm ; angel, anchor, and “ E. Christchurch. —lst instant, on warrant for failing to maintain his illegitimate child, of whom Ellen Daisy Jeffs, Rolleston, is the mother, John Stuart, age twenty-four, height about 5 ft. 8 in., labourer and grocer, native of New Zealand, medium build, fresh complexion, curly black hair, grey eyes, tip of right thumb missing, clean-shaved, upper teeth artificial; usually dressed in a dark suit. Christchurch. —Bth instant, on warrant for failing to comply with the terms of a maintenance order for the support of his wife, Catherine Mary Findlay, John Herbert Findlay, age thirty-three, height 6 ft. 2 in., motor salesman, native of New Zealand, medium build, fresh complexion, fair hair, blue eyes, Roman nose, upper teeth artificial, straight mouth, clean-shaved, skull has been fractured ; dressed in a reddishfawn suit, tan shoes, light socks, and grey-felt hat turned down ; frequents billiard-rooms at returned soldiers’ clubs. He is in possession of a three-seater Nash motor-car, registered No. N.Z. D 2-747, and may endea/our leave this Dominion. C 5

Accused who was rabbiting in Kurow district, obtained sums amounting to £3B 12s. from John Moody, wool and skin merchant, Timaru, by falsely representing that he owned a quantity of rabbit-Am
