Auckland. —15th ultimo, on warrant for failing to comply with the terms of a maintenance order for the support of his wife, Ada Worthington, 108 Lake Road, Takapuna, Waiter Worthington, age thirty-three, height 5 ft. 4 in., horse-driver, native of New Zealand, medium build, fresh complexion, brown hair, hazel eyes ; wears a grey overcoat and hat or cap pulled down in front; fond of drink. Auckland. —11th ultimo, on warrant of commitment to Auckland Prison for fourteen days in default of paying £4 10s. arrears due on a maintenance order for the support ,of his child, Robert James cantell, age thirty, height 5 ft. 4J in., labourer and carter, native of New Zealand, medium build, fresh complexion, brown hair and eyes, large nose, cleanshaved ; scar on right hand, on right middle finger, on left fore and middle fingers, and on right knee ; well dressed in a blue suit and felt hat or cap ; fond of racing and football. Hamilton. 3rd instant, on warrant of commitment to Auckland Prison for one month in default of paying £6l 12s. 2d. arrears due on a maintenance order for the support of his three children in Napier Receiving Home, John Henry Shed, alias Scott, alias Smith, age -one, height 5 ft. lOf in., labourer, native of England, strong build, fresh complexion, brown hair, hazel eyes, three dots on right forearm, two scars and dot on left forearm ; holds head to one side. Cambridge.— August last, on warrant for theft of a gentlemen’s bicycle (recovered), value £8 3s. 6d., the property of John Ernest Connor, motor-driver, Princes Street, Joe Francois Mariassouce, age twenty-one, height about 5 ft. 7 in., hotel porter, native of Rarotonga, medium build, copper complexion, black hair, brown eyes, smiling expression ; dressed in a blue suit and grey-felt hat, and wears a string of white or red beads round his hat, quiet disposition ; associates with Maoris. Napier.—l2th ultimo, on warrant for breaking and entering the dwelling of Robert Watson, dairy-farmer, Awatoto, and stealing therefrom a gentlemen’s dark-grey-tweed suit (tear in left shoulder of coat), and striped shirt, and £5 in money, total value £l3 10s., Ernest Herbert Smith, age nineteen, height 5 ft.- 6 in., labourer, native of New Zealand, strong build, fresh complexion, dark hair, brown eyes ; dressed in a dark-grey-tweed suit (too large for him); slovenly appearance. Fkidding.—22nd August last, on warrant for failing to maintain his wife, Elizabeth Baines, and child, Arthur Baines, age forty, height 5 ft. 9 in., barman, native of England, medium build, sallow complexion, dark hair, blue eyes, scar on throat and on one arm ; dressed in a navy-blue suit, brown boots, light-tweed cap, and wears a diamond ring and a gold watch and chain (seal attached to chain). He may be accompanied by Mrs. Fanny Woods, age thirty, height 5 ft. 2 in., slight build, light-brown hair, blue eyes ; slightly deaf, and suffers from nasal affection. She was employed as housemaid at tie’s Hotel, Feilding, where Baines was also employed as barman -

Palmerston North.— August last, on warrant for theft of £1 10s., the property of Woh Lee, laundryman, 10 King Street, Basil Harry Flaming, age twenty height 5 ft. .8 in., barman and showman, native of New Zealand, medium build, fresh complexion, brown hair, blue eyes, scar on forehead ; dressed in a grey suit and grey-felt hat; frequents billiard-rooms. Smart, age fifty-seven, height about 5 ft. 8 in., farmer, native of New Zealand, strong build, dark complexion, grey hair going bald, light-blue eyes usually dressed in a dark suit.; excitable, and has a peculiar stare. Wellington.—2sth August last, on warrant for false pretences, R. McLeod (name probably fictitious), age about twenty-two, height about 5 ft. 9 in., slight build, fresh complexion, brown hair, blue shifty eyes, upturned nose, round face, small features ; dressed in a blue or dark-grey suit. Accused obtained £5 from Mr. Gilbert McKay, M.P., by falsely representing that he had been sent by Mrs. George McGregor, Hataitai, to call on complainant, and that his parents were farmers at Taradale.

Christchurch.Bth instant, for escaping from Paparua Prison, Charles Henry Augustus Jones, age twenty-one, height 5 ft. 9 in., mechanic and seaman, native of England, strong build, fresh complexion, brown hair and eyes ; thistles, “ 2nd Battalion, Argyle, Sutherland, France, 1917,” on right arm ; woman chained to post on left arm. June last, for failing to comply with the terms of her release upon probation (Offenders Probation Act, 1920), Flora Duncan, age twenty-five, height 5 ft. 8£ in., school-teacher and domestic, native of New Zealand, medium build, sallow complexion, brown hair, hazel eyes.
