PERSONS WANTED.

Queen Street Wharf (Auckland). —4th instant, on warrant for deserting from the s.s. “ Leitrim,” John Millar, age twenty-eight, height 5 ft. 9 in., trimmer, native of England, dark complexion and hair, blue eyes.

Freemen’s Bay. —26th December last, that summonses for assault, riotous behaviour, and breach of his prohibition order may be served upon him, John Douglas Stark, age twenty-nine, height 5 ft. II in., wharf labourer, native of New Zealand, strong build, copper complexion, black hair, brown eyes, scar on left arm, crossed flags and woman’s head on right arm, scar on right breast and on left side and leg, left little finger missing; usually well dressed in a blue suit //5"~ /£ ~ ,

Auckland. 22nd ultimo, on warrant of commitment to Auckland Prison for two months in default of paying £7 16s. arrears due on a maintenance order for the support of his wife, Miria Felts, 66 First Avenue, Kingsland, William John Felts, age forty, height 5 ft. 6 in., labourer and bushman, native of Australia, stout build, fresh complexion, lightbrown hair, blue eyes, scar on left shin and on right knee, three moles on right side of face. December last, on warrant for using obscene language, William Adolphus Cunningham, age thirtyeight, height 5 ft. 9 in., wool-classer, native of New Zealand, strong build, fresh complexion, black hair, blue eyes, small scar on nose, on back of left hand, on forehead, and on left fore and middle fingers. JOI •) / 'Zsg/Cf, Te Aroiia.— 27th ultimo, that a Summons for cruelty to ' a horse may be served upon him, Frederick Sylvester Follas, age forty-nine, height 5 ft. 5 in., labourer, native of New Zealand, pale blotched complexion, dark hair going bald, blue eyes. Te Aroha. 22nd November last, on warrant for theft of a horse, gig, and harness (recovered), value £27, the property of John Richard Jurd, farmer, Robert Wallace, age about forty, height 5 ft. 10 in., labourer and share milker, strong build, dark complexion, dark hair going bald, brown eyes, snake on each upper arm, woman’s head and “ Phyllis ” on each forearm, scar on inside of right thigh ; dressed in a grey-tweed sports suit, grey cap, and brown-tweed overcoat; erect gait ; well spoken, and talks a good deal about seafaring; good appearance. Accused, who was share milking with complainant on a farm at Hungahunga, sold the horse and gig, &c., to a livery-stable keeper at Te Aroha for £l2.

Te Aroha.— l7th ultimo, on warrant for failing to provide for the maintenance of his unborn illegitimate child, Arnold James Amundsen, age twenty-six, height 5 ft. 7 in., labourer, native of Scandanavia, medium build, fair complexion and hair, blue eyes, scar under chin and on back of right hand ; “ Ralph,” anchor, and cross on left forearm ; arrow on right forearm ; ring on left middle finger; usually dressed in a navy-blue suit, soft-felt hat, and tan shoes ; sways from hips when walking, and he is left-handed. Tauranga. —22nd ultimo, on warrant of commitment to Tauranga Police-gaol for twenty-four hours in default of paying Bs. fine and costs for drunkenness, Ernest McQuillan, alias Harold McMillan, age forty-two, height 5 ft. 8 in., labourer, native of New Zealand, strong build, fresh complexion, brown hair, grey eyes, straight nose ; cross, heart, snake, dagger, star, &c., on left forearm ; butterfly and bracelet on left wrist ; woman’s head, bird, anchor, hand, &c., on right forearm ; bracelet on right wrist; scar on tip of left forefinger ; dressed in a brown suit and felt hat. Gisborne. —sth instant, on warrant for theft of £5, the property of Haisman, Francis, and Lougher, motor-pro-prietors, Leslie Walters, alias Warren, age about twenty-two, height about 5 ft. 1 in., taxi-driver and porter, native of New Zealand, slight build, fresh complexion, fair hair brushed back, blue eyes, slightly Roman nose ; dressed in -a grey suit, cap, and nigger-brown boots. Accused whilst employed by complainants collected above amount /or fares and disappeared.

Waipukurau. l6th ultimo, on warrant of commitment to Wellington prison for two months in default of paying £8 13s. fine and costs for unlawfully supplying liquor to a patient in the Sanatorium, Phillip McCabe, age twenty-five, height 5 ft. 7 in., labourer and hotel worker, native of New Zealand, medium build, dark complexion and hair ; usually dressed in a dark suit and grey cap ; fond of drink. He is also wanted on another warrant of commitment to Wellington Prison for one month in default of paying £5 10s. fine and costs for a similar offence to that referred to above. J .cf-Cj

December last, on warrant of commitment to Wellington Prison for ten days in default of paying £1 balance of fine and costs for failing to stop his motorlorry and keep a vigilant lookout for trains at a railwaycrossing, Herbert Blakes, age twenty-four, height 5 ft. 3 in., labourer and motor-driver, native of England, stout build, dark complexion, long hair, brown eyes, large lips ; usually dressed in a brown suit (no .hat).

Wellington. l4th ultimo, for failing to comply with the conditions of his release upon probation (Offenders Probation Act, 1920), George Warren, age forty-nine, height 5 ft. 9 in., advertising agent, native of England, stout build, ruddy complexion, brown hair, grey eyes, large red crooked nose, large mouth, lump on left side of neck, dot on left wrist. Watkins, alias John Henry Withers, alias Robert Williams, alias Harry Barnett, alias Harry Willis, alias Roberts, age fifty, height 5 ft. 4£ in., labourer, native of England, medium build, fair complexion, grey hair, blue eyes, obliterated tattoo-mark on left forearm. Wellington. — On or about the 31st ultimo, on warrant for theft of £7 Is. 7d., the property of Arthur David Benge, farmer, Happy Valley Road, James Patrick O’Brien, age twenty-eight, height 5 ft. 10 in., dairyman, native of New Zealand, strong build, ruddy complexion, brown hair, hazel eyes, scar behind right knee ; dressed in a light-grey suit and cap ; fond of drink. Accused, who was a partner in the firm of O’Brien and Benge, dairymen (partnership terminated on 24th January, 1925), collected the above amount from Ryan, Metropolitan Hotel, Molesworth Street, and failed to account for it to Benge. He may be in possession of the firm’s books. (See Police Gazette, 1925, page 40.)

Wellington. 6th instant, on warrant for failing to comply with the terms of a maintenance order for the support of his wife, Kathleen Lesley Gilchrist, 29 Richmond Street, Petone, John Gilchrist, age thirty-nine, height 5 ft. 10J in., traveller and cabinetmaker, native of New Zealand, medium build, fresh complexion, dark-brown hair, blue eyes, scar on forehead, left leg has been broken ; slightly stooped. Christchurch. —3rd instant, that he may be compelled to pay £169 9s. 3d. arrears due on a maintenance order for the support of his child, Mona Baines, who was an inmate of an industrial school, Daniel Marsden Baines, alias Daniel Bain, age fifty-three, height 5 ft. 3$ in., seaman and wharf labourer, native of Scotland, brown hair and eyes, shield on right forearm, thistle on left forearm, heart and bracelet on left wrist. Dunedin. — 11th December last, for indecently assaulting Alastair Cameron, telegraph messenger, 104 Mary Hill Terraco, Mornington, Hugh Eccles, age about thirty-seven, height 5 ft. 6 in., clerk, native of Ireland, medium build, fresh complexion, dark hair; dressed in a navy-blue or grey suit, tan shoes, and light-coloured soft-felt hat; wears spectacles, and uses a walking-stick. A man believed to be Hugh Eccles induced complainant to go with him ,to St. Joseph’s Hall, where he committed the offence. Eccles was employed as a clerk in the Otago Hospital Board’s Office and left suddenly. If located, he is to be interviewed regarding the offence. No warrant.
