Auckland. —7th ultimo, for theft of carpenter’s tools (some recovered), value £l3 95., the property of Albert Walter Perry, carpenter, 374 Manakau Road, Epsom, John Hurley, age about thirty-seven, height 5 ft. 10 in., strong build, dark complexion and hair ; dressed in a dark suit and dark-brown-felt hat. Auckland. —lsth December last, on 1 warrant for assault, George David Cargill, age thirty, height 5 ft. 8 in., wharf labourer, native of New Zealand, strong build, fresh complexion, brown hair, blue eyes, scar on forehead and on one ankle ; usually dressed in a blue-serge suit and grey cap ; a pugilist. Complainant is Queenie Harwood, whom he severely scalded by throwing the contents of a saucepan over her whilst she was drinking with him in a house in Stanley Street. Auckland. sth ultimo, for indecent assault on Jack Campbell (age five), 28 Stanley Point Road, Man (name unknown), height about 5 ft. 8 in. ; dressed in a dark suit and dark felt hat. Accused took the child into a dressingshed on Stanley Bay Beach and committed the offence. No warrant.

On or about the 17th November last, on warrant for theft of two tin trunks and a fibre suit-case, containing fancy leather goods, including ladies’ handbags, purses, wallets, children’s bags, suede bags, pocket wireless sets, and novelties, total value £l5O, the property of Thomas Lauriston Drummond, leather-goods manufacturer, Inglis Buildings, High Street, Alexander Wilde, age about fortyeight, height 5 ft. 2 in., traveller, slight build, fresh complexion, grey hair, sunken eyes, aquiline nose, sharp features ; dressed in a dark suit and cap ; talkative and fond of billiards. Accused, who was employed by complainant as traveller, received the goods to sell and had disappeared without accounting for them.
