PERSONS WANTED.

♦ Auckland. —26th ultimo, for theft of a mirror and a clock (recovered), value £8 175., the property of Edna Peters, Thistle Hotel, James McCormick (name probably fictitious), age about twenty-five, height about 5 ft. 7 in., driver, medium build, florid complexion, brown hair ; dressed in a light-grey suit and grey-felt hat; he was also wearing a gold fetter watch-chain with a gold boxing medal attached ; fond of drink. The articles were recovered at Kissin’s pawnshop, where they were sold for 15s. No warrant.

Auckland. —l7th December last, for breaking and entering the dwelling of Johanna Markey, boardinghouse-keeper, Westfield, with intent to commit a crime, Robert Lochore, age about thirty, height about 5 ft. 6 in., labourer, native of New Zealand, strong build, fair complexion and hair brushed

back, two gold-filled upper front teeth ; well dressed in a light-grey suit and fawn Stetson hat. About 12.30 a.m. accused, who lived in a hut close to complainant’s house, where he was boarding, entered a bedroom, and after being questioned disappeared, taking his effects with him. Te Aroha. —22nd ultimo, that he may be induced to pay arrears of maintenance due for the support of his son, Charles Conn, an ex-inmate of Weraroa Industrial School, Henry John Humphrey Conn, age about fifty-seven, height about 5 ft. 3 in., farm labourer, native of New Zealand, medium build, pale complexion, light-brown hair turning grey, blue eyes, grey moustache, heavy eyebrows, sharp features. Frankton Junction. ultimo, on warrant for theft of £3O, the property of Fong Wing, Laundryman,. Kent Street, Kitty Stewart, alias May Burrell, alias Catherine Way, alias May Lotch, age thirty, height 5 ft. 2 in., domestic, native of New Zealand, medium build, fresh complexion, light-brown hair, brown eyes, scar on base of left middle finger, two scars on left thumb ; dressed in a one-piece spongecloth dress ; fond of drink ; consorts with Chinese. Accused went into Fong Wing’s laundry and requested the use of his lavatory. Otahuiiu. —4th ultimo, on warrant of commitment to Auckland Prison for one month in default of paying £l2 arrears due on a maintenance order for the support of his wife, Theresa Murray, Station Road, Alexander Stewart Murray, age twenty-five, height 5 ft. 8 in.,' labourer, native of New Zealand, strong build, sallow complexion, fair hair, blue eyes, scar on left thigh and foot. Hamilton. —Jack Wilson, theft : Lionel David Carmichael, alias Frank Thompson, has been arrested on other charges by the Waitotara police. He denies having committed the above offence, and his description does not accord with that of Jack Wilson. (See Police Gazette, 1923, pages 348 and 482.)

Hamilton. l7th January last, that a summons for permitting a vehicle to stand in Victoria Street otherwise than parallel with the footpath, may be served upon him, Norman Davis, age twenty-six, height 5 ft. 7 in., driver, native of New Zealand, medium build, fair complexion, brown hair, grey eyes, dean-shaved^***^)

Hamilton. 2Bth January last, that a summons for being found in the Waikato Hotel during prohibited hours may be served upon him, David Ray, alias Reay, age thirty, height 5 ft. 10 in., farm labourer, medium build, dark complexion, sharp features, clean-shaved; usually dressed in a darktweed suit and fawn hat; sometimes wears riding-breeches and VwA/.

Hastings. —loth ultimo, on warrant of commitment to Wellington Prison for seven days in default of paying £5 13s. fine and costs for a breach of the borough by-laws, John Reginald Spurrier, age twenty- height 5 ft. 10 in., motor salesman, native of England, medium build, fresh complexion, fair hair, blue eyes ; dressed in a light-grey suit, grey-felt hat, and tan boots.

Ormondville. —7th ultimo, on warrant for failing to provide for the maintenance of his unborn illegitimate child, Vere Foster, age twenty, height about 6 ft., labourer, native of New Zealand, medium build, fair complexion, light-brown hair, blue eyes, right forefinger missing. Wanganui.—l6th ultimo, on warrant for false pretences, G. Farrell, alias Power (names probably fictitious), age about twenty-three, height about 5 ft. 10 in., medium build, fresh complexion, brown hair, squinty half-closed eyes; dressed in a brown suit and coloured-felt hat. Accused obtained £2 15s. from Rev. Father George Mahoney by falsely stating that he was a son of John Farrell, Hinds, and that he required the money to pay his fare to Hinds, where his mother was dying. Wellington. —26th ultimo, on warrant for failing to maintain his illegitimate child, of whom Florence Laura Berney, 89 Hamilton Road, Kilbirnie, is the mother, Eugene Mcßohan, alias Hugh Mcßohan, age twenty-six, height 5 ft. 8 in., labourer, native of Ireland, good build, fresh complexion, auburn hair, blue eyes. Wellington. damaging five portholes in the s.s. “ Durham,” value, £6 55., the property of the New Zealand Shipping Company, Arthur Close, height 5 ft. 8 in., fireman, slight build, sallow complexion, fair hair, blue eyes ; dressed in a navy-blue suit and heather-mixture cap ; walks with a limp. He is also wanted for unlawfully absenting himself and deserting from the above vessel. A reward of £2 is offered for his arrest.

Wellington.— 2Bth September last, on warrant of commitment to Wellington Prison for ten days in default of paying £4 ss. 6d. fine and costs for a breach of the Railway By-laws, William Morris Jones, alias Haig, age thirty, height 5 ft. 9£ in., labourer, native of Australia, medium build, swarthy complexion, black hair, dark-brown eyes, clean-shaved ; dressed in a dark-blue suit and black-felt hat; fond of drink.

Wellington. 26th ultimo, on warrant for failing to maintain his wife, Florrie O’Shea, 15 Abel Smith Street, Joseph O’Shea, age thirty-two, height 5 ft. 10 in., motor mechanic, native of Ireland, strong build, dark wavy hair, blue eyes, long nose, hole in left ear, scar on forehead ; usually neatly dressed in a blue or brown suit and grey velour hat or green cap.

Christchurch. — 16th ultimo, that a summons for obscene language may be served upon him, Walter George Andrew Panned, age about thirty-three, height 6 ft., traveller, native of Australia, dark complexion and hair; dressed in a blue suit and light-felt hat. He left Wellington for Sydney (Australia) on above date.

Christchurch.— 7th December last, on warrant of commitment to Paparua Prison for forty-eight hours in default of paying 15s. fine and costs for leaving a horse and gig unattended in High Street, Francis Noel Lloyd, age twentyfive, height about 5 ft. 7 in., canvasser, native of New Zealand, medium build, sallow complexion, dark hair, brown eyes.

Dunedin.— llth ultimo, on warrant for theft of a wristlet watch (recovered), a 15 ct. gold band ring with “ Jack ” engraved thereon, a gentlemen’s 9 ct. gold ring set with a black opal, a gentlemen’s 18 ct. gold ring claw set with a large opal, and a ladies’ 18 ct. gold engagement ring set with two diamonds and three sapphires ; total value, £l7 10s. Identifiable, the property of John Edward Downes, motor mechanic, 13 Melville Street, Fred Pratt (name probably fictitious), age about twenty-five, height about 5 ft. 8 in., labourer, native of New Zealand, medium build, fair complexion and hair, light-blue eyes; dressed in a greyish-brown tweed suit and grey cap ; sluggish appearance. Williamson, an inmate of Caversham Industrial School, Edward John Williamson, age thirty-three, height 5 ft. 4 in., labourer and bootmaker, native of New Zealand, slight build, pale complexion, lightbrown hair, grey eyes, two upper teeth missing; usually dressed in a blue suit and black hat.
