Auckland. — l7th March last, on warrant of commitment to Auckland Prison for seven days in default of paying £2 12s. fine and costs for failing to render personal service (Defence Act), Ralph Heywood, age about eighteen, height about 5 ft. 7 in., labourer, medium build, dark hair r usually dressed in a blue suit. / ,

Auckland.— November last, on warrant of commitment to Auckland Prison for three months in default of paying £O3 arrears due on a maintenance order for the support of his four children, Henry Herbert Watson, age thirtynine, height 5 ft. 4f in., wharf labourer, native of New Zealand, medium build, fresh complexion, fair hair, blue eyes, right middle finger injured. Auckland.— On or about the 14th ultimo, on warrant for false pretences, Waldron, age forty, height 5 ft. 5 in., medium build, dark complexion and hair; dressed in a dark suit and dark-felt hat; plausible manner. Accused obtained 2s. from Maria Bottles, 5 Union Street, by falsely representing that complainant’s son, who is in Mount Eden Prison, wanted cigarettes and requested him (accused’) to get the money from Mrs. Bottles and purchase them. Te Aroiia.— l4th November last; on two warrants of commitment to Auckland Prison for five days in default of paying £3 (£1 10s. each) fines and costs for breaches of his prohibition order, Thomas Alfred Vowles, age about thirty-eight, height 5 ft. 10 in., hairdresser, native of New Zealand, medium build, fresh complexion, black hair, blue-grey eyes. Hamilton. —loth November last, on warrant for theft of a silver butter-dish and two silver spoons, with “ N.Z.R.” stamped on them, value £1 10s., the property of the New Zealand Government (Railways Department), Desmond George Chandler, age about twenty-two, height 6 ft., barman, fair complexion and hair, clean-shaved ; dressed in a dark suit, light-felt hat, and brown boots. Hastings. 23rd ultimo, on warrant for theft of £lO, the property of Booth, Macdonald, and Co., Hastings; A. J. Faulknor, age about thirty-two, height about 5 ft. 6 in., traveller and machinery agent, medium build, ruddy complexion, dark hair, clean-shaved, sharp features; dressed in a dark suit and grey cap ; fond of drink. Accused, who was

a traveller for the above firm, sold to Benjamin Carter, Takapau, a chaffcnttcr, for which he received £lO and failed to account for it to his employers. He has also taken with him a Davidson motor-bicycle, registered No. N.N. 80, value £BO, the property of Booth, Macdonald, and Co. He is also wanted on warrant at Petone for false pretences.

Wellington. —3lst ultimo, on warrant for false pretences, J. Cross, alias A. J. Simpson, age about forty-three, height 6 ft., strong build, tanned complexion, fair hair and moustache turning grey, brown eyes, decayed front teeth; dressed in a brown suit and grey-felt hat; quiet manner; smiling expression. Accused on the 29th ultimo opened in the name of A. J. Simpson an account at the Bank of New Zealand, Otaki, by depositing and received a cheque-book containing cheques Ifrfiyj 213961 to 213984. On the 31st ultimo he called on Haywards (Limited), ladies’ outfitters, 226 Lambton Quay (he having previously written to the firm requesting!' that a ladies’ coat -fee kept for him, and enclosed 6p. as a deposit))' and/obtained a ladies’ fawn rainproof/coat, branded “ London Shower and Spotproof,” value £7 74/ and £ll ss. cash by means of a valueless cheque for £lB 12s. payablet(P<tames Cross, and signed “Percy Bennett, Manager, Otaki Butter Company.” There are eight similar charges pending, and he may have been assisted by Jack Callinan, age about thirty-three, height 5 ft. 9 in., medium build, brown hair, clean-shaved; well-dressed in a brown suit and light-grey cap. He may be identical with Alfred Cole, referred tg in Police Gazette, 1924, page 26.

Wellington. instant, on warrant for deserting from the s.s. “ Mahia,” Harry Ernest Cooke, age twenty-four, height 5 ft. 6 in., fireman, fair complexion, brown hair, blue eyes. A reward of £2 is offered for hi®'arrest. -

Wellington. —7th instant/on warrant for deserting from the s.s. “Mahia,” John March, age thirty-five, height 5 ft. 6Jin., greaser, native of England, dark complexion and hair, brown eyes, anchor on back of each hand, woman’s head on left arm. Christchurch. —11th instant, bn warrant for failing to maintain his wife, Florence Annie Hosking Everett, 44 Hastings Street, Sydenham, and' four children, John Charles Everett, age thirty-five, height 5 ft. 8 in., taxi-proprietor, native of New Zealand, medium build, ruddy complexion, black hair, hazel eyes, scars on back of neck, spot of white hair on back of head, slight mark on right temple, Scar above right temple ; moles on shoulders; usually dressed in grey worsted trousers, grey sports coat, and tan brogue shoes. He may be accompanied by a woman. His photograph is filed in the Inspector’s Office, Christchurch.

f Dunedin. —John Aston, alias John Lee Ashton, alias John Ambrose Clarke, breaking, entering, and theft from the dwelling of Maria Wood : It has now been ascertained that the following articles were also stolen in addition to those already reported : A silk double scarf with black and white stripes ; a Masonic badge, inscribed “ Presented to Brother John Wood ” ; a black-and-white-silk scarf ; a white woollen scarf ; a knitted silk tie ; a grey-silk tie ; a brown-leather tobacco-pouch ; a clothes-brush ; a grey vest; a pair of black-cashmere socks ; and a razor (“ H.
