INQUIRIES, ETC., FROM OUTSIDE NEW ZEALAND.

Melbourne (Victoria). English Scottish and Australian Bank defrauded. (See Police Gazette, 1924, page 6.) It is now believed by the Melbourne police that there was one man only operating the system in that city, and that between his visits to the different branches he altered his appearance by removing his glasses and toothbrush moustache. He gave the name Henry Charles Russell, and a warrant for his arrest has been issued. The following amended description of accused is supplied : Age about thirty, height about 5 ft. 10 in., medium build, sallow complexion, clean-shaved, but had slight growth of hair on face ; dressed in a blue-grey suit, slate-coloured hat with light band, blue-striped soft shirt and collar, and long tie, and at one bank he wore glasses with chain over ear ; very much tanned either by the sun or by some artificial means. He obtained from the Western Branch of the above bank a cheque-book containing sixty forms, starting with 8103141. If located, communicate urgently with the Commissioner of Police, Wellington, in whose office a photographic copy of his handwriting'is filed. (P 23/1730.) l} .
