PROPERTY STOLEN.

Newton. —Between the 30th ultimo and the 12th instant the premises of LEES BROS., tailors, &c., 137 Karangahape Road, were broken into, and the following property stolen therefrom : A blue-serge tailor-made costume, sailor collar, mole-fur edging on collar and cuffs, plaited-braid cord belt, trimmed with military braid on front and back panels of coat, lined with black-and-white-check art-silk lining, “ Lees Bros.” on tag of coat; a pale-grey-gabardine coat frock with collar and vest, pale-grey jazz braiding on back and front of body and on collar, vest, sleeves, and round hem at bottom, “ Lees Bros.” on tag ; A light-fawn-gabardine coat frock, trimmed with jazz braiding on back and front of body, sleeves, and round hem at bottom, “ Lees Bros.” on tag ; a ladies’ fawn-velour overcoat, heavy material, fur collar, Egyptian design stitching in darker shade from hips to bottom, “ Lees Bros.” on tag ; and about 14 yards of navyblue serge : total value, £4O. Identifiable except serge.

Newton. —On the 13th or 14th ultimo the premises of K.K. FOOTWEAR COMPANY and OSWALD JAMES MALVERN, boot-dealers, &c., 49-51 Karangahape Road, were broken into, and the following property stolen therefrom : Three pairs of gentlemen’s glace-kid Balmoral boots, sizes 6,9, and 9f, “ Argosy ” stamped on them, left boots are marked L and two inverted Ts on soles ; a pair of gentlemen’s tan-willow-calf Derby boots, size 6, “ Flexile ” stamped on sole, left boot marked —U/7 on sole ; a pair of gentlemen’s brown Balmoral boots, “ The Ritchie Shoe ” stamped on sole, size 6, fancy punched toe-cap, left boot marked L inverted L and X ; a pair of gentlemen’s brown Balmoral boots, “ The Ritchie Shoe ” stamped on sole, size 9, left boot marked [-/X on sole ; a tea-set, Gothic pattern, blue band with gilt edges and floral design, “ A-ynsley ” and “ 2931 ” on most of the pieces ; a pink-china rose-bowl, floral design, with gilt metal top, “ Falcon ”on it; and an English crystal cut-glass glass, 6 in. high : total value, £26 2s. fid. Identifiable.

Queen Street Wharf (Auckland). 3rd ultimo, from a suit-case on the s.s. “ Ulimaroa,” the property of NORMAN FREEMAN PORTER, 3 Cooper Street, Grey Lynn, a No. 3a Eastman Kodak camera in leather case, which is badly burnt with sulphuric acid, used films in camera are of two battleships, two destroyers, a man on a wharf, and Sydney Heads ; value, £7. Identifiable.

Auckland. On the 3rd instant the dwelling of WILLIAM CRUSH DALDY, clerk, 134 Grafton Road, was broken into, and the following property stolen therefrom : A telescope, 10in., in three lengths, branded “Peacock, Optician”; a gentlemen’s gold ring, set with a cornelian, “ W.C.D.” in old English letters on it; a small gold-and-ivory pencil pendant; a rolled-gold curb bracelet; a Remington and a Waterman fountain pen ; and 3s. : total value, £lO. Mostly identifiable.

Auckland. Between the sth ultimo and the sth instant, from a yard at Halsey Street, the property of the NEW ZEALAND ACETYLENE AND HARDWARE COMPANY, 5,692 ft. of fin., fin., 1 in., If in., and If in. galvanized piping : total value, £BO. Not identifiable.

Auckland. On the 15th September last the dwelling of JOHN CHARLES MACE at 59 East Street was broken into, and the following stolen therefrom : Two gold wedding-rings, a black bracelet with a’ silver clasp, and a ladies’ gold openface watch ; total value, about £4. Identification doubtful.

Parnell. DENlS O’LEARY’S field-glasses stolen : The suspect, William Thomas Jensen, has been interviewed by the Auckland police, but no evidence resulted. (See Police Gazette, 1922, page 179.)

Waihi. 4th instant, from the dwelling of Rev. GRAHAM BARNETT, Gilmour Street, a gold-mounted seal pendant, about in. square, set with a red cornelian ; a small silver sleeve-link, and a nickel-plated electric torch : total value, £4 12s. Pendant only identifiable.

Hamilton. lsth or 16th instant, from an office in the Commercial Hotel, the property of JAMES MERVIN WALSH, traveller, a ladies’ single-breasted dark-brown Nappa-leather overcoat, 40 in. long, detachable belt with bronze gun-metal buckle, If in. black bone buttons, green-and-grey-check lining ; value, £7 10s. Identifiable.

Hamilton. —Between the 12th and 15th ultimo, while in transit between Matamata and Frankton Junction, the property of NORTON MAY AND . CO., merchants, Frankton Junction, a sack containing thirteen calf-skins ; value, £3 2s. Not identifiable. Suspicion is attached to Wallace (name probably fictitious), age about twenty-five, height about 5 ft. 6 in., good build, swarthy complexion, heavy eyebrows ; dressed in a dark suit and felt hat, and was in possession of a handbag and a bicycle with low handles. He is to be interviewed regarding his possession of thirteen skins which he sold to complainants on the 19th and 20th ultimo.

Wellington. —Between the 13th and 16th instant, from clothing in the office of the National Hat-mills, Adelaide Road, the property of SAMUEL ERNEST LORD, hatter, 1 Lynn Road, a dark-brown leather wallet, with “ S.E.L.” on one' corner, containing a certificate of appointment as postman in England, several letters relating to hat-making, five photographs of ladies, and £9 in notes ; total value, about £lO. Identifiable except money. Suspicion is attached to Frederick Harding, age twenty, height 5 ft. 5 in., hatter, native of New Zealand, medium build, fresh complexion, fair hair, brown eyes. He has been interviewed, but no evidence resulted.

Wellington. —l6th instant, from the s.s. “ Maori,” the property of ALICE DANIEL, 60 Cook Street, Lyall Bay, a brown-leather suit-case, containing a black-silk blouse, a black jumper with scarlet beads, two gabardine skirts, a fuji-silk frock, a gingham, a small green bag containing hankerchiefs, a veil, stockings, men’s socks, and other articles of ladies’ clothing; total value, £2l. Identifiable.

Wellington. —During the night of the4sth instant, from the s.s. Maori,” the property of WILLIAM JOHN HAMPTON, police constable, Sumner, a brown-leather suit-case, containing a 32-calibre 1903 model Colt revolver, No. 242304, and twelve rounds of ammunition; two striped shirts; collars ; socks ; and a Bengal razor, strop, and brush : total value, £7. Revolver and suit-case identifiable. 7 ✓

Blackball.— Between the 27th and 20th ultimo, from a. hut, the property of GEORGE TWEE DIE, miner, a gentlemen’s silver hunting English lever watch, No. 656624, “ D.T.” on inside case ; and a greenstone-and-gold oval-link watchchain : value, £7 10s. Identifiable.

Christchurch.— 7th instant, from the Clarendon Hotel, the property of ELIZABETH HAZLETT, Filleul Street, Gladstone, Invercargill, a ladies’ green-and-red Paisley handbag ; a small crocodile purse ; a pair of screw-drop earrings, set with a diamond at screw and six diamonds in a cluster on drop; £6 10s. in notes ; three sovereigns ; and three half-sovereigns : total value, £34 2s. Identifiable except money.

Christchurch. —24th September last, from Colombo Street, the property of WALTER CLARENCE TOZER, carpenter, 150 Selwyn Street, Sydenham, a gentlemen’s black-enamelled B.S.A. bicycle, No. 3420, racing-handles, “ V ” on one handle near grip ; value, £6. Identifiable.

Christchurch. 22nd August last, the property of EDGAR CHARLES SHELTON, 44 Onslow Street, St. Albans, a 4 in. nickel-plated shell side-drum, in a light-brown leather case, top half of which is lined with tin; value, £l2. Identifiable.

Not identifiable. Suspicion is attached to a Man (name unknown), height about 6 ft., clean-shaved ; dressed in a fawn overcoat and felt hat.
