Newton. RICHARD CROWLEY’S dwelling broken into : John Gibb Hastings has been arrested for the offence by the Auckland police, and a portion of the stolen property recovered. (See Police Gazette, 1923, page 525.)

Auckland. —26th July last, from the dwelling of FRANK LAWRENCE, motor-driver, 122 Manukau Road, Parnell, a 9 ct. gold ring, set with a tourmaline in centre surrounded by small pearls ; value, £2 10s. Identifiable. Suspicion is attached to Thomas Silva, referred to in Police Gazette, 1922, page 376, and Photographs, pagq 71, who has been interviewed, but no evidence resulted.

Auckland.3oth ultimo, the property of GEORGE SABAG DYER, importer, 390 Dominion Road, a gentlemen’s 18 ct. gold open-face keyless Elgin watch, No. 641286, “ G.S.D.” on outside of inner case ; and a rolled-gold beaded fetter-and-one-oval watch-chain: total value, £ls 10s. Watch only identifiable. Complainant lost the articles while in Lower Queen Street.

Auckland. —22nd ultimo, from a bedroom at the Y.W.C.A. premises in Queen Street, the property of JANE GRANT, two black-leather purses, 7s. 3d., and a necklet of purple or heliotrope cats-eye beads joined with small gold fetter links ; total value, £3. Not identifiable.

On the 12th ultimo the dwelling of CHARLES PRIME at 37 Brighton Road, Parnell, was broken into, and the following property stolen therefrom : A postal note for os., with two penny stamps attached ; a postal note for Is., No. 787794, with a fourpenny stamp attached, and “ Payable to G. Fallon, Paeroa,” written on back ; an Onoto fountain pen, with a pocket-clip attached; and three packets of cigarettes : total value, £1 16s. Postal note only identifiable.

Auckland. — the Bth and 10th ultimo, from the dwelling of JOHN PATRICK McGEE, labourer, at 428 Upper Queen Street, an 18. ct. gold engagement-ring, set with a ruby between two diamonds on cross-over, ruby in claw setting ; value, £l4. Identifiable.

Auckland. —lßth May last, from the dwelling of VERA SMITH at 11 Gardiner Road, Epsom, a black-leather handbag, about 10 in. by 12 in., containing a Post Office Savingsbank book, No. 772781, a pair of scissors, a half-sovereign, and about £l2 in notes ; total value, about £ls. Taubanoa. —MARY FRANCES ELIZABETH HARRIS’S dwelling broken into : It has now been ascertained that the following cheque-book was stolen : Nos. 294361 to 294420 (used up to 294407), issued at the Bank of New Zealand, Picton, “ Tauranga ” stamped under “Picton ” on each form. The cheque-book No. 310505 to 310528 was not stolen. (See Police Gazette, 1923, page 483.)

Gisborne. Between the 26th July last and the 4th ultimo, from the dwelling of ZILLAH BURKE, 461 Childers Road, a gold ring, set with four or five turquoises ; a gold homeshoe ring, set with rubies and pearls ; and a heavy band wedding ring : total value, £l9. Suspicion is attached to Leonard Ferguson, age about twenty-two, height about 5 ft. 6 in., labourer, native of New Zealand, medium build, dark complexion, brown hair, blue eyes ; dressed in a navy-blue-serge suit and light-felt hat.
