PERSONS WANTED.

Newton. —2sth July last, for false pretences, Thomas Cooper (name probably fictitious), age about thirty, height about ft. 10 in., medium build, dark swarthy complexion, black hair, dark moustache ; wearing a fawn canvas ridingcoat, tan leggings, and light soft-felt hat. Accused obtained on a hire-purchase agreement a gentlemen’s Criterion bicycle (No. 64981, upturned handles with black-celluloid grips, front-rim brake, value £l6 10s.) from F. R. Hutchinson, cycle-dealer, Karangahape Road, by falsely representing that he was in the employ of S. House, nurseryman, Mangere. No warrant.

Auckland. —sth instant, that he may be induced to pay £3O Bs. 2d. balance of a loan obtained from the Auckland Repatriation Board, Albert Doyle, age forty, height 5 ft. 6 in.,

cook and hairdresser, native of New Zealand, medium build, dark complexion, brown hair, blue eyes, scar on left middle finger. Inquiry is at the instance of the State Advances

Auckland.— l4th July last, for assaulting Esme Walsh, factory hand, sth Avenue, Point Chevalier, Man (name unknown), age about thirty, height about 5 ft. 7 in., medium build, black hair; dressed in grey trousers, fawn-gabardine raincoat, and grey cap. About 10.40 p.m., in Gladstone Road, accused committed the offence, after which he disappeared on a bicycle. No warrant.

Auckland. —3rd ultimo, on warrant for theft of £2l 55., the property of Henry Vivian Keane, garage-proprietor, Manakau Road, J. Thompson, age about thirty-four, height 5 ft. 5 in., canvasser and commission agent, native of New Zealand, strong build, dark complexion and hair, cleanshaved ; dressed in a dark suit and black-felt hat. Auckland. —l4th ultimo, on warrant of commitment to Paparua Prison for six months in default of paying £47 arrears due on a maintenance order for the support of his wife, Katherine Angus, William Allan Angus, age thirty-two, height 5 ft. 10 in., fellmonger, native of New Zealand, medium build, fresh complexion, curly auburn hair, blue eyes ; usually well dressed, and wears a cap. Y n /r Auckland. — 6th May last, on warrant for unlawful carnal knowledge of Gladys Alice Simister (age fifteen years eleven months), Percy Reginald Maddock, age twenty-eight, height 5 ft. 6^in., carpenter, native of New Zealand, medium build, fresh complexion, brown hair, blue eyes, scar on right cheek, on left forearm, and on right ring-finger ; usually well dressed in a grey suit, and stays at hotels. Accused was in partnership with complainant’s father, at Surfdale, building houses, when the offence was committed. (See Police gazette, 1923, page 466.) 3,

Auckland. —Bth May last, on warrant for perjury, Elsie May Morgan, age thirty-five, height 5 ft. in., native of England, fresh complexion, brown frizzy hair, blue eyes, high cheek-bones, scar on each groin ; plausible and . a good singer. Accused committed the offence at Auckland during the hearing of a civil action (Ashford v. Chilcott) before J. E. Wilson, Esq., S.M. She may assume the name “ Madam French,” and may endeavour to leave this Dominion.

Auckland. loth July last, for assault, Man (name unknown), age about twenty-five, height 5 ft. 8 in., slight build, clean-shaved. About 6.15 p.m. in Balmoral Road, accused assaulted Kathleen Rowe, saleswoman, Atherton Road, Epsom. No warrant.

Masterton. 3rd instant, on warrant for failing to maintain his wife, Lily Bennett, 49 George Street, Charles Henry Bennett, age twenty-seven, height 5 ft. 9 in., traveller, native of New Zealand, stout build, dark complexion, black hair, brown eves, clean-shaved ; usually wears riding-breeches and loggings.

Carterton. 4th instant, on warrant for failing to comply with the terms of a maintenance order for the support of his wife, Emily Sarah Shaw, Tyne Street, George Cornelius Shaw, age sixty-two, height 5 ft. 7 in., cabinetmaker, native of New Zealand, medium build, dark complexion, grey hair going bald,, blue eyes. Arrears to Asth July last, £25.135.

Wellington. sth instant, on warrant of commitment to Wellington Prison for one month in default of paying £46 ss. arrears due on a maintenance order for the support of his two children, Albert James Rawstron, age about thirty-five, height 5 ft. 10 in., carpenter, native of Scotland, medium build, dark complexion, dark-brown hair, blue eyes ; fond of drink. Wellington. instant, on two warrants of commitment to Auckland Prison for three months on each in default of paying £6B 3s. arrears duo on a maintenance order for the support of his wife, Margaret M. Julian, 60 Overtoun Terrace, Kilbirnie, and five children, Harold Frank Julian, age thirtysix, height 6 ft., rabbiter, native of New Zealand, slight build, sallow complexion, dark hair, grey eyes, long nose, scar on left side of rj£>se. Watson, age thirty-two, height 5 ft. 8 in., labourer, native of New Zealand, strong build, fresh complexion, brown hair and eyes, scar on right wrist and shin and on left little finger ; dressed in a navy-blue suit and light-grey-felt hat. Accused “received the amount from Albert John Orchard, medical practitioner, on terms requiring him to account for it to his employer, Charles R. .Weir, but failed to do so. There are other charges pending.
