Wanganui. — lßth January last, for theft of a bicycle, value £9 10s. (recovered), the property of C. P. Smith, Willis Street. W. Ryan (name probably fictitious), age. twenty-three, height 5 ft. 3 in., slight build, fair hair and complexion; dressed in a grey suit and dark cap. Accused stole the bicycle from a bicycle-stand at the Town Bridge, and sold it to Mr. Buffer, 83 Bell Street, for £2. No warrant.

Wanganui. 24th ultimo, on warrant for failing to comply with the terms of a maintenance order for the support of his wife, 163 Anzac Parade, and children, William John Lee, age thirty-three, height 5 ft. 10 in., painter, native of New Zealand, "slight build, dark hair and complexion, blue eyes, pointed largo nose, clean-shaved, two moles on one. buttock. Wellington. 4th instant, that proceedings may be instituted against him for failing to maintain his illegitimate child, of whom Violet Evelyn Christensen, Eltham, is the mother, Richard Spence Carlson, age twenty-six, height 5 ft. -V in., labourer, native of New Zealand, strong build, fair complexion, dark-brown hair, brown eyes ; usually dressed in a blue suit and grey cap ; good appearance. Wellington.— 27th ultimo, on warrant of commitment to Westport Prison for one month in default of paying £5 ss. arrears due on a maintenance order for the support, of his wife, Rachel Ryan, John Ryan, age thirty-three, height 5 ft. 10 in., fireman, native of New Zealand, good build, dark hair and complexion, brown eyes ; usually dressed in a blue suit and black soft-felt hat. Arrears /imnpmed /to the 18th December last.

Greymouth. —2oth December last, on warrant for theft of £23, the property of Koiterangi School Committee, Hugh Henry Mangan, age about twenty-five, height about 5 ft. 7 in., school-teacher, slight build, reddish complexion, dark-brown hair ; dressed in a grey saddle-tweed suit and grey-felt hat; fond of drink. Accused, who was Secretary to the School Committee, received four quarterly payments of capitation allowance of £5 15s. each on terms requiring him to pay the same into the Committee’s banking account. He failed to do so. There is another charge pending.

Christchurch. —21st ultimo, on warrant for failing to comply with the terms of a maintenance order for the support of his illegitimate child, of whom Sarah Wilson, 45 Devon Street, is the mother, William Thomas Morris, alias Christopher Thomas Morris, age thirty-eight, height 5 ft. 9) in., shoemaker, native of New Zealand, strong build, fresh complexion, brown hair, blue eyes, mole on right cheek. Dunedin. —William Sydney Taylor, theft, : It has been ascertained by the Auckland police that offender is identical with William Sidney Taylor, referred to in Police Gazette, 1921, page 749. • Dunedin. Bth ultimo, on warrant for theft of a watch and chain, a pair of boots, a scarf, and an overcoat (recovered), total value £5 10s., the property of John Hollebon, labourer, J. McDowell (name probably fictitious), age about thirty, height sft. 10in., slight build, fair hair and complexion; usually dressed in a grey suit and fawn soft hat. The articles were stolen from a bedroom in the Douglas Private Hotel and sold to a second-hand dealer.

Dunedin. 2lst ultimo, on warrant for failing to comply with the terms of a maintenance order for the support of his wife, Henry James Cronk, alias McKenzie, age thirty-seven, height 5 ft. 7 in., steward, native of New Zealand, medium build, dark complexion, dark-brown hair, dark-grey eyes, hands across the sea on left forearm.
