Auckland. — the night of the sth instant GEORGE DYER’S drapery-shop at 390 Dominion Road was broken into, and a safe damaged by explosives and the following articles stolen therefrom : A brown-leather brief-bag with green lining ; a white-silk shirt, size 4 ; a silk canoe-shirt; two white-silk handkerchiefs ; several tunic shirts ; six pairs of black-silk socks ; a pair of Melanese socks ; three pairs of white-silk ribbed stockings ; six pairs of black-silk stockings ; two cakes of soap ; a bottle of scent; a pair of scissors ; tooth brushes and paste ; a toy pistol; several pairs of gloves ; and 16s. 10d. : total value, £l3. Suspicion is attached to Albert Bettridge, age about twenty, height about 5 ft. 5 in., labourer and cook, strong build, fair freckled complexion, ginger hair, several upper front teeth missing ; dressed in a light-grey suit and a light-grey-felt hat. He was sharing a room with complainant when the articles were stolen. /y New Plymouth.—On the night of the 6th instant the premises of MICHAEL ZEMBA AND CO., clothing-manufac-turers, were broken into, and the following stolen therefrom : 400 yards of crepe de Chine and silk of various colours, seven crepe de Chine blouses of various colours, seven boxes containing eighty-four pairs of grey, white, black, and brown silk hose ; a box of silk thread and coloured beads ; a box of elastic ; and a small embroidery-machine : total value, £250. Napier.On the night of the 15th ultimo the goods-shed at the rail way-station, the property of the NEW ZEALAND GOVERNMENT (Railways Department), was broken into, and the following stolen therefrom : A set of W. and T. Avery counter-scales, with a porcelain platform with “ Avery ” on it, cast-iron weight-pan with “ Sole Agents, Australasian Scale Company,” on it; and a set of weights of J oz. to 4 lb. in ounces ; a dozen Worcester cups and saucers with .a gold rim on each ; and a quantity of Hudson’s and Nestle’s chocolates : total value, £lO 10s. 4d.'
