BOOT-FACTORY in Federal Street (Edward John Osborne, manager), was broken into, and the following boots stolen therefrom : Two pairs of gentlemen’s tan Derby Defiance-brand boots, size 7 ; four pairs of gentlemen’s black glace-kid boots, size 7 ; four pairs of gentlemen’s chrome Derby boots, size 7 ; a pair of ladies’ patent Sandalette shoes, size 3 ; two pairs of ladies’ patent strap shoes, sizes 3 and 5 ; a pair of ladies’ nigger-brown-calf shoes, size 7 ; a pair of ladies’ nigger-brown-calf shoes, with two buckles on each ; and a pair of ladies’ black-glaze Sandalette shoes, size 7—all branded “ Britannia Shoes ” : total value, £ls. two clips and rough forging to back forks, registered No. A 5164 on plate at back, with Presto-Lite cylinder, No. 293431, attached to back of chassis and connected with front and back lamps. Suspicion is attached to a Man (name unknown), age about thirty-five, height about 5 ft. 7 in., Maori, strong build, black hair, brown eyes, square features ; dressed in a dark suit; speaks good English. On the road near Katikati suspect assaulted Hedley John Palmer, who was in possession of a parcel containing the watch, and on the parcel being recovered the watch was found to be missing.

Frankton Junction. 29th July last, from outside Gosling and Higgin’s buildings, the property of G E O R G E LOUIS HARDCASTLE, 13 King Street, a boys’ blackenamelled free-wheel bicycle, top bar slightly buckled ; value, £6 10s.
