Accused, who was in partnership with complainant, drew cheques on behalf of the firm, one of which was for £287 17s. 6d. He unlawfully converted a portion of the amount to his own use. He may be accompanied by his wife, and may endea vour to leave this Dominion.

Accused, who has a wife and four children, was employed as foreman carpenter by John Urquhart (father of the girl), builder, 40 Finch Street, Morning,side, and on above date he took from her home without the consent of her parents with intent to carnally know her, Gladys Urquhart, an unmarried girl under the age of sixteen. They may endeavour to leave this Dominion. If located, care should be taken .of the girl until she is returned to her parents. Description of Gladys Urquhart: Age fifteen years and three-quarters, height about 5 ft. 6 in., strong build, dark fresh complexion, dark hair which she wears up, round face ; dressed in a white-silk blouse, dark-grey-flannel skirt, large black hat, black shoes and stockings, and nigger-brown overcoat; was carrying an embossed handbag with a kingfisher on outside, and wears a gold wristlet watch, with “ Mother ” op, it. Martinborough. 26th ultimo, that he may be interviewed regarding a motor-coat which he is said to have left at the house of David Alexander, Martinborough, and which he may have stolen, Thomas O’Brien, alias John O’Brien, age seventy-two, height 5 ft. 61 in., labourer, native of England, fair complexion, grey hair, beard, and eyes ; fond of drink. Accused, whose employment by the Standard Chemical Company, Wellington, had terminated, continued to canvass for the sale of patent W.C.’s. Accused obtained £ll 16s. from Adam James Monro, licensee, Barrett’s Hotel, by means of a valueless cheque for that amount.

Accused, who was driving complainant’s milk-cart, received the above amount from Charles Burland and failed to account for it to his employer.
