PERSONS WANTED.

The above are photographs of Charles James Gerard, alias Gerad, alias Charles Roxburghe, alias Vivian Lee Ronalshay, alias Charles Francis Gordon, alias Jordan, alias Ogs'ten, alias Lestrange, alias Lestrang, alias De Beaumont (vide Police Gazette, 1921, page 210, and T 922, page 28, and ‘Photographs, 1911, page 49) ; and Sidney Fortescue, alias Hamilton, alias “ Dr. Frost,” alias Strong (vide Police Gazette, 1921, page 210), who are wanted on warrants issued at Wellington and who are believed to be still in New Zealand. They are clever criminals and systematically obtain money from women by winning their confidence and going through the form of marriage with them. They may establish some bogus business, such as mental or drugless healing, in order to operate their system of fraud. Kaponga. —loth ultimo, for theft of a 9 ct. gold or a goldfilled hunting keyless Waltham watch, a 22-calibre sevenchambered Smith , and Wesson , revolver • (No. 7991), a '455calibre six-chambered nickel-plated Webley Mark revolver (No. 42495), a gold fob chain, with shield-shaped locket with a lion on top attached, and a black tin despatch-box, total value £2l 10s. 6d., the property of Percy Vincent Catling,

electrical engineer, Kaponga Town Board, Arthur Earle Woods, alias William Arthur Woods, age twenty-five, height 5 ft. 5] in., telegraph operator and labourer, native of England, strong build, fresh complexion, light-brown long hair, blue eyes, high cheek-bones, Mother and cowboy’s head on right forearm, Indian’s head on left forearm, scar on back of right ear and on back of right hand. He is suspected of having stolen the articles from a shed, the property of the Kaponga Town Board, after which he set fire to the building, which was destroyed. No warrant. Wanganui. —lßth ultimo, on warrant for theft of 155., the property of Maud Bourne, housemaid, Rutland Hotel, Nelson Jefcate Horne, age twenty-eight, height 5 ft. 6 in., labourer and blacksmith, native of New Zealand, medium build, fresh complexion, brown hair, blue eyes, “ T.H.” and heart on left forearm ; dressed in a dark shabby suit and soft-felt hat; fond of drink. Accused was employed as cashier in the Rates Office when he committed the offence, and on discovery he refunded the above amount. Other similar charges pending.

Wellington. —lßth instant, for failing to comply with the conditions of her release upon probationary license, Alice Maria Yeung, age twenty-five, height 5 ft. 3 in., domestic, native of New Zealand, slight build, fair complexion, lightbrown hair, blue eyes, scars on fingers, scars on abdomen. Wellington. —2oth ultimo, on warrant for false pretences, Charles James Manners (name probably fictitious), age about forty-five, height about 5 ft. 8 in., strong build, fresh complexion, wavy fair hair brushed back, grey or light-brown eyes, full round face, clean-shaved ; dressed in a fawn-gabar-dine suit with cap of same material, belt on back of coat, and soft collar ; sharp voice ; speaks slowly, and when speaking runs his fingers through his hair. Accused obtained £l5O from William John Benney, labourer, 29 Wellington Road, Kilbirnie, by falsely representing that he had a business in which he required a partner, and sold to complainant a share for the above amount, after which he disappeared. On the 17th instant complainant received from accused a letter which contained a promissory note for the amount, payable at the Bank of New South Wales, Wellington, not before 20th June, 1922.
