Rawene. 4th ultimo, from Opononi Wharf, the property of JOHN WEST, seaman, a yellow-fibre suit-case, with “ J.W.” in b&ck on one side, containing a navy-blue-serge suit, three suits of underclothing, a white shirt, a white sweater, several white handkerchiefs, a. black handkerchief, a white cotton singlet, a pair of flannelette striped shorts, a pair : of : blue socks, a tie, a black oilskin overcoat, a pair of canvas shoes, a razor, a shaving-brush, a hair-brush, and a comb ; total value, £lO. Queen Street We are (Auckland). —7th January, last, from clothing in Carr and Haslam’s workmen’s room at the Wharf, the property of MURDOCK JAMES ERASER, Church Street, Otahuhu, a gentlemen’s gun-metal open-face watch, with “ Ernest Vickery ” on dial; and a 9 ct. gold curb double watch-chain, with a large swivel at one end and a small one at the other end : total value, £6 10s. Identifiable.

Auckland. —On the 4th ultimo WALTER- SWEETAPPLE’S dwelling at 3 George Street was broken into, and the following articles stolen therefrom: A dark-brown-leather heavy suit-case, containing a pair of khaki ridingbreeches, laced at knees; a pair of grey saddle-tweed riding-breeches ; a pair of dark-tweed trousers ; four black-and-white-striped shirts, size 3 ; two light khaki tennis shirts,size 3 ; six pairs of blue-and-black woollen socks ; a kit-bag with straps and buckles at ends, brown-holland lining; a fawn large overcoat with check lining, “ Hydrotite ” on tag ; a gold round tiepin, set with a pearl; and a shell-shaped biscuit-barrel : total value, £2B. Auckland. ultimo, from TONY MAKOVINA’S restaurant in Victoria Street, a cash-register, containing £6 10s. 7-2-d. ; total value, £l2l 10s. 71 d. (register and £3 os. 7-|d. recovered).

Auckland. —On or about the 25th ultimo DANIEL KEARN’S grocery-shop in Victoria Street was broken into, and the following articles stolen therefrom : A gentlemen’s silver open-face watch, with “ J. G. Graves ” on dial, small crack in glass ; a box containing fifty packets of yellow Three Castles cigarettes ; twenty-four packets of Capstan cigarettes ; twelve packets of yellow Three Castles tobacco ; 3 lb. of plug tobacco ; and twelve boxes of matches : total value, £lO. Auckland.-- 17th ultimo, from JAMES FRANCIS HOSKING’S solicitor’s office, a cash-box, about 7 in. by about 5 in., containing thirty-three £1 notes, £2 6s. in silver, and a quantity of 25., 45., 55., 75., and Bs. stamps ; total value, about £36 9s. 4d. .

Auckland. —Between 25th December last and the 21st ultimo, from a cloak-room in the Public Hospital, the property of GRACE BROWNLIE, nurse, a ladies’ dark dove-grey-velour overcoat with a mauve tinge in it, hajf-lined with black-striped bluish material, made by O’Halligan, tailors, Napier, two large side pockets, straps.on cuffs, chain hanger, round large collar, grey-mottled bone buttons ; value, £l2. Rotorua. —l6th ultimo, from a bus between the railwaystation and the Geyser Hotel, the property of ST. CLAIR JOUNNEAX, Kamo, Whangarei, a brown-leather small attache-case, with “ S.C. J.” on one side, containing a pair, of brown-leather slippers, a suit of blue-and-white-striped pyjamas, a small magnifying-glass, two razors with a day of the week branded on each blade, a shaving-brush, an' ebonybacked hair-brush, a comb, and five Silver King golf-balls ; total value, £B. _ Identifiable.

Man until- 7th ultimo, from Manunui. Boardinghouse, the property of JAMES O’SULLIVAN, bushman, a dark-brown large suit with bluish stripes, three outside pockets in coat, cult's on bottom of trousers ; and a fountain pen, with “ V.M.” on a gold band on it: total value, £ls 3s. Suspicion is attached to George Pollock, alias Scotty, and Leo Hannan, Description . First, age twenty-six, height 6 ft., mill hand, native of Scotland, slight build, fresh complexion, fair hair, blue eyes, clean-shaved, scar on left side of forehead, flat feet; usually dressed in a grey suit and light-felt hat worn tilted to leftside. He has been interviewed, but no evidence resulted. Second, age twenty-three, height 5 ft. in., labourer, native of New Zealand, medium build, ruddy complexion, red hair, blue eyes ; dressed in a blue-serge suit and tan boots ; erect gait; quiet manner; fond of drink and gambling. Wanganui.— 24th ultimo, from HAROLD MEYENBERG’S bedroom at Oatea Boardinghouse at Taupo Quay, a gentlemen’s silver hunting keyless watch with “ H. Meyenberg ” on inside case ; a silver curb watch-chain, with a silver cross attached : total value, £5 10s. Identifiable.

Takapau. —On or about the 2nd instant JOHN SWENSON’S shop was broken into, and £5 in silver and a Boyproof watch stolen therefrom ; total value, £5 12s. Suspicion is attached to John Rock, age thirty-three, height 5 ft. 8 in., labourer, native of New Zealand, medium build, sallow complexion, light-brown hair, blue eyes, scar on chin ; dressed in a dark-brown suit and black soft-felt hat. Wellington. l6th ultimo, from a cloak-room in James Smith’s Buildings, the property of KENNETH ALBERT MILLAR, Park Road, Miramar, a gentlemen’s browngabardine overcoat with tartan and fawn lining, straight outside flap pockets, one inside pocket, belt-loops at back, straps on cuffs ; and a brown leather wallet : total value, £9 15s. Identifiable.

Wellington. —Between the 23rd January last and the 7th ultimo, from APPERLEY KENNETH-MEADE’S bedroom at the Hotel Windsor, Willis Street, a No. 3A Special Kodak Autograph model camera, Anastigmant lens, rangefinder at side, in a brown-leather case ; value, £2O. Identifiable.

Wellington.- January last, from SAMUEL ANDERSON SHARPE’S dwelling at 116 Holloway Road, a gentlemen’s rolled-gold hunting- hands and glass missing ; a 9 ct. gold fetter watch-chain; a ladies’ silver engraved watch; and a gold five-star pendant: total value, £l2 10s. Identifiable. Suspicion is attached to Edward Bevan, age seventeen, height 5 ft. 1 in., labourer, native of New Zealand, slight build, fair hair and complexion ; dressed in a lightbrown suit and felt hat.

Wellington.— 2lst ultimo, from the person of ALEXANDER McKENZIE, 44 Sydney Street, while in the Central Hotel, a gentlemen’s 10 ct. gold double case American Waltham watch, with “ Alexander McKenzie ” on back ease, English numerals, and a black small fob chain attached ; total value, £l4 14s. Identifiable.

Wellington. WALTEß FRANK SMITH, camera stolen : The suspect, Doris Hennessey, has been interviewed by the Westport police, but no evidence resulted. (See Police Gazette, 1922, page 139.)

Between the 31st January last and the Ist ultimo, from a railway-yard, the property of the NEW ZEALAND GOVERNMENT (Railways Department), four cases of Big Tree motor-spirits; value, £6 3s. 4d. Not identifiable. Suspicion is attached to John Magnus and Olaf Wilfred Magnus. Description : First, age sixty-five, height 5 ft. 9 in., labourer and miner, native of Sweden, fresh complexion, dark hair turning grey, blue eyes, scar at side of left eye. Dunedin. —Between the 28th and 30th January last, from an engine-room at Saddle Hill, the property of CHRISTIE BROS., mine-owners, an anemometer with a fan-shaped dial on one side, a safety Davy lamp (No. 5), a quantity of stocks and dies, two taps, two twist drills, wood bits, spanners, pliers, saw-files, punches, an iron plane, a tomahawk, and five hacksaw blades ; total value, £l6 12s. Milton. On or about the 4th instant the office at the railway-station was broken into, and the safe blown open by explosives, and the following money stolen therefrom, the property of the NEW ZEALAND GOVERNMENT (Railways Department) : Two cash-boxes, containing £2l 9s. 2d. and a cheque for £1 12s. 9d, No. D 29644, on the National Bank of New Zealand, Milton, in favour of the Railways Department, signed “H. Rowe, Coombe Hay Estate, Milton. Identifiable except money. Suspicion is attached Arthur Dominic Plunket, age twenty-three, height 5 ft. 9 in., labourer, native of New Zealand, good build, fair complexion, brown hair and eyes, scar on left eyebrow, small red mark on right side of nose, left arm amputated at elbow, large mouth; dressed in a dark rough suit, and was in possession of a swag. Milton. — On or about the 4th instant WILLIAM JAMES PATERSON’S tea-rooms at the railway-station were broken into, and about £lO stolen therefrom. Suspicion is attached to Arthur Dominic Plunket, referred to in preceding paragraph*
