PROPERTY STOLEN.

Auckland. —llth April last, between Herne Bay and Custom Street, , the property of CHARLES EDWARD MACKIE, Lawrence Street, a cheque for £4 6s. Bd. on the Union Bank of Australia (Limited), No. 1/A122652, drawn by R. J. Carbines in favour of C. E. Mackie.

Auckland. —Between the 7th and 11th ultimo, from the Commercial Travellers’ Club, the property of FREDERICK PROVOST, Western Springs Road, a gentlemen’s brown Burberry overcoat, pleats and belt at back, “ F. A. Provost ” written on inside of breast-pocket, two tears in back vent; and a brown-leather brief-bag, about 1 ft. long, with a brown stain on one end : total value, £ls 10s. Identifiable.

Auckland. ultimo, from ERNEST GILBERT SKEATES’S jewellery shop at 42 Queen Street, a gold engagement-ring, set with two diamonds in millstone slanting setting, end of ring in four pieces leading to setting; value, £ls. Identifiable. Suspicion is attached to a Woman (name unknown), age about twenty-three, height about 5 ft. lin stout build, fresh complexion, large brown eyes ; dressed in a greyish costume.

' Taumarunui. —Between the 29th December last and the Bth ultimo, from ELSIE COFFEY’S dwelling, a ladies’ darkbrown mammot fur three-quarter length‘ overcoat, with brown-silk lining, and a tortoise-shell button on front; value, £7O. Identifiable.

Taumarunui. — December J. last, from a railwaycarriage, , ; the property of ERNEST JOLL, Hood Street, Hamilton, a green-canvas small suit-case, containing a Bengal razor, with “E. Joll ” written on inside of case ; a shavingbrush a military strop; a tussore-silk shirt; a black-and-white-spotted shirt, size 4; a pair of tan boots, size 6; a pair of hair-brushes ; and a military pay-book, with “E. Joll, Reg. No. 15373,” on it: total value, £4. Pay-book, boots, and razor only identifiable. Suspicion is attached to . McCabe, age about ' fifty-five, height about 5 ft.' 7 in., slaughterman, native of Ireland, stout build, grey hair going bald ; grey eyes and whiskers.

Taihape.— On or about the 27th December last, from a bedroom at the Gretna Hotel, the property of JOE GEE, cook, a gold ring, set with three diamonds (one yellow); an 18 ct. gold ring, set with a diamond; a gentlemen’s silver Waltham watch ; a gold curb watch-chain ; and a 10-dollar piece : total value, £SB. Identifiable. Suspicion is attached to Edward Elijah Pardoe, age thirty-four, height 5 ft. 6 in., labourer and barman, native of New Zealand, medium build, sallow complexion, brown hair, grey eyes ; Japanese woman, wreath, heart, and “ E.P.” on right forearm ; heart and “ True Love ”on left forearm. Suspect has been interviewed by the Palmerston North police without result. (See Police Gazette, 1917, page 532.)

Taihape.— Between the 31st August and Ist November last, from Erewhon Estate, the property of C. W. ENSOR, manager, twenty-four black Polled. Angus cows, four years, earmarked with M out of top of left ear; total value,, £450. Identifiable.

Levin. —23rd December last, from a railway-carriage between Levin and Wellington, the property of ARTHUR GORDON-GLASSFORD, Ihahara, a greenish leather-and-canvas suit-case, containing a grey-and-green sport’s coat, a khaki denim coat, a pair of khaki ribbed trousers, a pair of lace slippers, a small leather case, with “ No. 23/1055 ” Arthur D. Gordon-Glassford, Ist Batt. N.Z. Rifle Brigade,” on it, containing a toilet outfit; several light-coloured shirts ; a grey Cardigan jacket; a pair of grey-tweed trousers ;' and several collars and ties : total value, £2O. Identifiable.

Wellington.— ultimo, from SARAH DAY’S dwelling at 6 Broomhedge Street, a ladies’ gold open-face keyless Geneva watch, No. 210779 ; value, £5. Identifiable. .

Wellington.— -30th ultimo, from the s.s. “ Wahine,” the property of FREDERICK AUGUST HEMPLEMAN, schoolteacher, The Mansions, Ghuznee Street, a four-piece greenheart fishing-rod with a cork handle, in a brown-canvas case; and a length of bamboo rod : total value, £1 10s. Identifiable. \

1 Wellington. 2lst ultimo, from a railway-carriage between Aramoho Junction and Palmerston North, the property of CALEB OWEN, 164 Jackson Street, a pair of black-metal Army field-glasses, with an arrow and “ W.D.” on them, in a brown-leather case with “ Lt. Wellington.— 3rd instant, from a motor-car outside the King’s Theatre, the property- of GARNET MATTHEWS, 235 Lambton Quay, a gentlemen’s grey-tweed overcoat, Raglan sleeves, two side pockets, small cut across shoulders, which has been repaired; value, £2. Identifiable.

Wellington. 2oth ultimo, from clothing at the tepid baths in Tasman Street, a gentlemen’s nickel-silver open-face keyless watch, black dial, illuminated figures and hands, maker Westolox, U.S.A.; a silver curb watch - chain ; and a fountain pen, with “ Sapon Soap Powder ” on it, and a name on nib cap ;? total value, £2 12s. ;■ identifiable ; the property of EDWARD JAMES WILLIAMS, 15 Ellice Street: also a gentlemen’s nickel-silver open-face keyless watch, black dial, illuminated figures and hands, maker Westelox, U.S.A., with “ L.A.W.M.S.” scratched on back; and a silver long link and twisted link double watch-chain; total value, £2 10s.; identifiable; the property of LIONEL ARCHER WILLIAMS, 15 Ellice Street.

Christchurch. — 19th ultimo, from outside the Government Buildings, the property of ROY ERASER, 517 River Road, New Brighton, a gentlemen’s black-enamelled free-wheel B.S.A. bicycle, No. 0176, upturned handles, red lines on wheels, rim-brake, steel mud-guards, Champion tires ; value, £l3 10s. Identifiable.

Christchurch. —Bth ultimo, from outside the Forresters Hotel, the property of STUART RENSHAW CLARKE, 11 Andover Street, a gentlemen’s bicycle, No. 20021, straight handles with black grips, steel rims, front- and back-rim brakes ; value, £8 10s. Identifiable.

Christchurch. the 3rd and 9th December last, while in transit between Wellington and Burnham, the property of STANLEY GEORGE SHARMAN, Military Camp, Burnham, a tin trunk, about 2 ft. 6 in. by 1 ft. 6 in., with “ Sharman ” in black letters across lid, containing a navy-blue costume, a khaki costume,' a brown costume, a brown jersey with blue and white stripes around bottom and sleeves, a quantity of gentlemen’s light underclothing, twelve children’s frocks, a hamper containing a quantity of baby clothing and articles of crockery, a hamper containing a quantity of ladies’ underclothing, two dresses, a pair of slippers, a pair of sandals, and a bundle of letters and telegrams, addressed to “ Mrs. Gordon, Rakaia ” : total value, £6O. Identifiable.

Dunedin. On or about the 15th December last, from a bedroom at the Leviathan Hotel, the property of THOMAS EADES, farmer, Eadendale, a black-satin evening-dress with an overskirt of black net, a grey-flannel costume coat with a belt on it, and a green-canvas suit-case; total value, £39 7s. 6d. Identifiable.

Invercargill.— On or about the 3rd instant PRICE AND BULLEID’S shop in Tay Street was broken into, and the following articles stolen therefrom: Eight shirts and two collars (recovered), a greyish-brown rough sport’s suit, size 3, with narrow diagonal stripes through it; a2O in. brownleather kit-bag, with “ 20 ” and “ K2 ” on tab, with a lock in centre and a nickel clasp at each end; several tussore and white silk double collars with long points, size 13J and 14 ; a silk handkerchief with coloured edges; two gentlemen’s companions, each containing two razors, a tooth-brush, a hair-brush, and soap-dishes; £2 ss. in stamps; a cheque for £25 on the Bank of New Zealand, Arrowtown, drawn by Cotter and £27 13s. 9d. : total value,’ £74 11s. 6d. Identifiable except money. Suspicion is attached to Harold Alexander Stewart, age eighteen, height 5 ft. 4£ in., driver and seaman, native of New Zealand, medium build, fresh pimply complexion, brown hair, grey eyes, scar on inside of right wrist.
