INQUIRIES, ETC., FROM OUTSIDE NEW ZEALAND.
Sydney (New South Wales). above is a photograph of Wilfred Ernest Coley, for whose arrest a warrant has now been issued for the murder of Gertie McGrath (vide Police Gazette, 1921, page 7, and New South Wales Police Gazette, 1921, page 7). He is further described as having shifty sunken eyes, slightly pigeon-toed, leans forward from hips when walking, cannot look any one in the face, speaks quickly, and has a habit of saying “ Yes, yes ” in answer to questions.
Sydney (New South Wales). —Inquiries are requested for John or George Mepham, alias John McPherson, with a view to inducing him to maintain his children, on whose behalf the mother, Miss Augusta Bettina Winneke, 48 Hopewell Street, Padington, is applying to the State Children Relief Board for assistance. Description : Age about thirty, height about 5 ft. 7 in., motor mechanic, slight build, dark hair and complexion, blue-grey eyes, slightly decayed teeth in front with gold fillings in some, small scars on one cheek; dressed in a grey suit and grey-felt hat; wears a small octagon-shaped tie-pin, set with a diamond, and wears a gold long and short link muff-chain across top pockets of vest. He deserted from the sailing-ship “ E. R. Sterling ” at Auckland about the 7th August, 1920. His photograph is filed in the Commissioner’s Office, Wellington. (P.20/1457.) _
