Rawene. —27th Maroh last, that a notice of fine and costs may be served upon him, Tom Heke, age twenty-six, height 5 ft. 7 in., bushman, Maori, strong build, copper complexion, black hair, brown eyes; dressed in brown riding-breeches and leggings, and brown coat and vest; fond of drink, and quarrelsome when under its influence.

Auckland. —About 12th August last, for theft of a gentlemen’s overcoat (recovered), value £5, the property of Ivan Pierard, King’s College, Remuera, John Roach (name probably fictitious), age twenty-six, height 5 ft. 6 in., fireman, native of New Zealand, medium build, fresh complexion, brown hair; dressed in a dark-grey suit and dark-felt hat. Accused stole the coat from the above college and told it to William Fischer, second-hand dealer. He may be identical with Robert Rowe and Jack Sharp, referred to in following paragraph, and Property stolen, this issue. No warrant.

Raetihi. —29th ultimo, on warrant of commitment to Wellington Prison for three months in default of paying £52 16s. 3d. fine and costs for keeping liquor for sale in a nolioense area, John Savage, age about fifty, height 5 ft. 8 in., labourer, medium build, fresh complexion, fair hair turning grey, blue eyes, clean-shaved; dressed in a browntweed suit (works in almost-white moleskin riding-breeches); smart gait ; fond of drink.

Feilding. —27th ultimo, for false pretences, Man (name unknown), age about thirty-three, height 5 ft. 6 in., labourer, strong build, pale complexion, fair hair ; dressed in a darkgrey suit and cap ; Scotch accent. Accused obtained from Hannah and Co., boot-manufacturers, £lO 11s. by means of a valueless cheque, for £l4 11s., on the Bank of Australasia, Feilding, in favour of James Wilson, and signed “ T. Grant.” He tendered the cheque in payment of £4 for two pairs of boots. No warrant.

Masterton.— lßth August last, on warrant for failing to provide for the future maintenance of his unborn illegitimate child, Francis Rickard, age twenty-six, height 5 ft. sin., upholsterer, native of New Zealand, strong build, pale complexion, curly fair hair, blue eyes, one upper front tooth missing; usually dressed in a dark suit; bow-legged; fond of drink. Complainant, Josephine Ford.

Petone. — Bth ultimo, that he may be compelled to maintain his child, an inmate of the Special School for Deaf, Sumner, Donald Campbell, age fifty one, height 5 ft. 10 in., labourer, native of New Zealand, strong build, fresh complexion, dark hair and moustaohe, brown eyes; dissipated appearance ; fond of drink.

Wellington. commitment to Wellington Prison for (1) twenty-four hours, (2) forty-eight hours, and (3) forty-eight hours in default of paying Bs., 135., and £1 3s. (total £2 45.) fines and costs for drunkenness and breaches of his prohibition order, John Francis Wooster, age thirty-five, height 5 ft. 4Jin., c >ok, native of New Zealand, medium build, fair hair and complexion, light-blue eyes, pierced heart and dark spot on left forearm, scar on left wrist and leg, (See Police Gazette, 1916, page 94, and 1920, page 255.)

Wellington.— 3oth ultimo, on warrant for false pretences, William Hughes, alias Harry McTaig, age thirty-one, height 5 ft. 6£in., ploughman, native of Scotland, strong build, fair complexion, dark-brown hair, blue eyes, scar on forehead ; dressed in a dark-grey suit and grey cap. Accused obtained goods, value £6 75., and £ll 13s. in cash from Frank Spencer Cooze, hairdresser, 142 Lambton Quay, by means of a valueless cheque for £lB on the Bank of Australasia, Wellington, signed “ W. J. Hughes” and endorsed “Harry MoTaig.” (See Police Gazette, 1920, page 567.)

Takaka. l6th April last, on warrant of commitment to Wellington Prison for seven days in default of paying £2 7s. fine and costs for being unlawfully on licensed premises, Charles McGee, age forty-seven, height 5 ft. s^in., labourer, native of New Zealand, medium build, sallow complexion, dark-brown hair, brown eyes. Christchurch.— lst ultimo, on warrant for failing to maintain his wife, Florence Elizabeth Calthorpe, 372 Yaldhurst Road, and four children, Andrew Calthorpe, age forty-one, height 5 ft. 7 in., farm labourer, native of Australia, medium build, fair complexion, dark hair and eyes, ginger moustache, artificial upper teeth, full face, large head. .

• Christchurch. 2oth August last, on warrant of commitment to Paparua Prison for seven days in default of paying £1 15s. fine and costs for assault, Morris Titore, age twenty-seven, height 5 ft. 10 in., seaman, native of New Zealand, strong build, copper complexion, dark hair, brown eyes, flat nose, large mouth; a half-caste Maori. He is also wanted on another warrant of commitment to above prison for seven days in default of paying £1 3s. fine and costs for obscene language.

Christchurch. — l7th June last, on warrant of commitment to Paparua Prison for one month in default of paying £9 2s. arrears due on a maintenance order for the support of his illegitimate child, of whom Eva Gurdlet is the mother, William Young, age about thirty, height 5 ft, 6 in., farm

labourer, native of New Zealand, medium build, fair complexion, brown hair, blue eyes, long nose and features, one leg is shorter than the other, and he wears a round iron under one foot; usually dressed in grey trousers, black coat, and cap or felt hat. Arrears computed to 20th April last.

Christchurch.— 17th ultimo, on warrant of commitment to Paparua Prison for one month in default of paying £7 17s. arrears due on a maintenance order for the support of his wife, Arthur Henry Thomas, age forty-five, height 5 ft. 10 in., native of New Zealand, medium build, dark complexion, dark hair turning grey, blue eyes, dark moustache ; usually dressed in a brown suit and soft-felt bat.

Christchurch. — 31st August last, on warrant for failing to comply with the terms of a maintenance order for the support of his illegitimate child, of whom Amy May Hadler is the mother, Frederick Charles Hill, age about forty, height 6 ft., labourer, strong build, fair hair and complexion, brown eyes, probably clean-shaved. Accused had carnal knowledge of his half-sister, Margaret May MoMann, domestic, Herbert.

Dunedin.— 2oth June last, on warrants for breaking and entering William Watt’s store at Dunback, and stealing therefrom a pair of boots, a watch, and £1 3s. 6d., total £4 10s.—(1.) Norman Sutherland, age nineteen, height 5 ft. 8 in., labourer, native of New Zealand, thin build, sallow complexion, dark hair, blue eyes, heavy eyebrows which meet, long thin face, scar on left upper arm ; dressed in dark trousers, brown ooat and vest, and black soft-felt hat; drooping shoulders. Roxburgh. —4th June last, that a summons for failing to comply with the terms of a maintenance order for the support of his illegitimate child, of whom Daisy Vernon is the mother, may be served upon him, William Joseph Fletcher, alias Joseph William Fletcher, age about forty, height about 5 ft. 9 in., miner and labourer, native of Australia, strong build, sallow complexion, dark-brown hair, gr«.y *yes, prominent artificial teeth, growth near left ear, scar on left forearm. Invercargill.— 7th instant, on warrant for failing to maintain his wife, Johanna Deegan, 33 Grace Street, and four children, ward Deegan, age thirty-two, height 5 ft. 7 in., machinist, native of New Zealand, stout build, dark complexion, black hair, grey eyes, thin face, broad shoulders, birth-mark on loft arm ; dressed in a grey suit, tan shoes or black boots, slouch hat, and light-coloured overcoat.

Invercargill. — 7th February last, that a summons for playing “two-up” may be served upon him, Alexander Smith, age about thirty, height about 5 ft. 8 in., sawmill hand, native of New Zealand, medium build, dark hair and complexion; dressed in a dark-tweed suit and fawn soft-felt hat; fond of drink and gambling.
