MISCELLANEOUS INFORMATION.

Panama Prison, Templeton. The Controller General of Prisons has drawn attention to the fact that prisoners who are remanded from various parts of the Dominion to appear at the Christchurch Courts are frequently sent in the first instance to the police-gaol at Lyttelton, instead of to the prison at Templeton. On the closing-down of the Lyttelton Prison the Paparua Prison, near Templeton, became the official prison for the custody of all classes of prisoners (remanded, for trial, or sentence, &c.) for the Canterbury District, and prisoners should be committed to that prison accordingly, instead of Lyttelton Prison. J. O’Donovan, Commissioner of Police. Wellington, 23rd August, 1920. (P. 20/1192.)
