Auckland. Henry John James, alias Henry James, theft from a dwelling: The stolen medal has been recovered by the Auckland police. It was sold by accused to Emanuel Kissin, second-hand dealer, Hobson Street, for 55., to whom he gave the name Jack Wallace. (See Police Gazette, 1920, page 456.)

Auckland. 6th ultimo, on warrant for forgery and uttering, Albert Joseph Vance Ryan, age twentyseven, height 6 ft., clerk, native of New Zealand, slight build, fresh complexion, light-brown hair, blue eyes, soar under chin and on right ring-finger ; usually dressed in a blue-cloth suit, soft grey-felt hat turned down all round; smart appearance. Accused forged the signature “E. E. Ryan ” to a cheque for £l2 10s., drawn on National Bank of New Zealand, Auckland, and uttered it to Robert Lionel Harvey, licensee, Rob Roy Hotel, Freeman’s Bay. Waihi.—lsth ultimo, on warrant of commitment to Thames Prison for ten days in default of paying £1 3s. fine and costs for a breach of the by-laws, Godfrey Elliott, age twenty, height 5 ft. 7 in., miner, native of New Zealand, medium build, fresh complexion, brown hair and eyes. He left Auckland for America by the s.s. “ Raider ” on the 24th April last.

Te Awamutu. —l7th ultimo, on warrant for false pretences, Norman Leonard Findlay, age thirty-four, height 5 ft. 8 in., farmer, native of New Zealand, medium build, fair fresh oomplexion, fair hair, blue eyes ; dressed in a blue-serge suit and dark-felt hat; fond of drink. Accused obtained £lO from Thomas Main, hotelkeeper, by means of a valueless cheque drawn on the Bank of New Zealand, Te Awamutu.

Patea. — 11th March last, that a notioe to'appear at the Magistrate’s Court, Patea, on the Bth October next to submit himself for sentence may be served upon him, Walter Corrigan, age eighteen, height 5 ft. 6 in., electrical mechanic and labourer, native of New Zealand, medium build, fair hair and complexion, blue eyes. On the 22nd January last offender was convicted for unlawfully using a motor-car, value £4OO, the property of Henry Crosbie. He was ordered to pay £45 by instalments of £1 10s. weekly and report himself once each month to the Patea police, with which conditions he has failed to comply. (See Police Gazette, 1920, page 83.)

Wanganui. —l6th instant, that a summons for failing to maintain his wife and eight children may be served upon him, Alfred Allen Matthews, age forty-four, height 5 ft. 10 in., engineer, native of New Zealand, stout build, ruddy complexion, fair hair, ginger moustache, scar on back of left forefinger ; dressed in a reddish-brown suit and lightfelt hat; walks with a stoop.

■ Wellington. — 6th instant, for failing to comply with the conditions of his release upon probationary license, Richard Harold Edwin Giles, age twenty, height 5 ft. 6J in., clerk, native of New Zealand, medium build, fair hair and complexion, blue eyes, scar on left cheek and on abdomen, tip of right forefinger missing; dressed in a dark-grey suit, light-felt hat, tan boots, and light-gabardine rainproof overcoat. Christchurch.— -28th ultimo, on warrant for failing to maintain his wife, Mary Cruthers, 186 Mays Road, St. Albans, and two ohildren, William Henry Cruthers, age fifty-four, height 5 ft. 6 in., farm labourer, native of Australia, medium build, fair complexion, fair hair turning grey, blue eyes, fair thick moustache, right eye smaller than left ; dressed in a grey suit and fawn hat; walks with a stoop.

Christchurch. — 22nd April last, on warrant of commitment to Paparua Prison for seven days in default of paying £1 Is. costs for drunkenness, Leonard Joseph Lafferty, age twenty-one, height about 5 ft. 7 in., butcher, native of New Zealand, medium build, fair hair and complexion, blue eyes. Dunedin. —23rd ultimo, on warrant for theft of a pair of bloomers (recovered), value 4s. 6d., the property of the Motor Parcel Delivery Company, Filleul Street, Christopher Ronald MacDonald, age fourteen, height 5 ft. 2in., dairy employee, native of New Zealand, medium build, fresh freckled complexion, brown hair, grev eves; impediment in speech.
