Between the 19th and 21st ultimo HALLENSTEIN BROS.’ shop in Cameron Street was broken into, and the following articles stolen therefrom : A pair of gentlemen’s glace-kid Bostock Derby boot'*, size 9 over F, No. P 4051 FA; a pair of gentlemen’s glace-kid patent cap Derby boots, No. 80017; a pair of gentlemen’s tan Derby boots, No. 5226; a *pair of glace-kid dancingshoes, with pump soles; a pair of gentlemen’s check felt slippers; two woollen scarfs; three shirts ; two grey suits ; a pair of dark-grey-tweed trousers ; a brown-leather suitcase, 26 in. long; a gentlemen’s Petone Brand heavy-tweed overcoat, sizi 4; a gentlemen’s navy-blue gabardine overcoat, size 4, with black and check lining, “ H. 8., New Zealand Clothing,” on it; a gentlemen’s fawn or mixture shade raincoat ; and a brown-mixture large Cardigan jacket: total value, about £SO. Devonport.— Between the 25th May last and 3rd instant, from RODERICK McLEOD’S bedroom at 22 Calliope Road, an aneroid barometer, similar to a watch ; and a gentlemen’s silver hunting-English lever watch, No. 278490 on works, “No. 760” on case, believed to have “Roderick McLeod ” inscribed on it: total value, £l2. Watch identifiable. Suspicion is attached to W. J. Reader, alias William Reid, age about twenty-seven, height 5 ft. 10in., native of England, medium build, fresh complexion, brown hair, aquiline nose ; dressed in khaki riding-breeches,, tan leggings.and boots, grey-tweed coat, and cap or brown-felt bat, and a fawn army blanket overcoat ; cockney accent. He is a good pianist, and passes himself off as an ex-North-west Mounted Canadian police constable ; good-looking.

Auckland. —On the sth instant LEWIS BRISTOW SAVAGE’S dwelling at 50 Esplanade Road was broken into, and the following articles and money stolen therefrom: A brown tin deed-box, 18 in. by 12 in. by 12 in , with “ A. L. Massey, Auckland,” on it, containing three insurance policies and other documents relating to H. L. Massey and L. B. Savage; a gentlemen’s 18 ct. gold open-face watch, with “B. Savage ” and L. B. Savage ”on it ; a gentlemen’s gold band ring, with “ 8.5.” on it; a gold fetter-and oval watchchain, similar to illustration No. 22 in Police Gazette, 1911, page 2 ; and £3 15s. : total value, about £37. Thames. - Between the 25th and 26th May last the office of the ESTATE OF THE LATE JAMES HAWKES, coalmerchant, was broken into, and the following money stolen therefrom: A tin cash-box, containing a postal note for 10s., No. 268384, issued at Turu, 19th May, 1920 ; two £1 notes ; three 10s. notes; and £7 18s. 3d. in silver and copper : total value, £ll 18s. 3d. Postal note only identifiable.

Te Aroha. — 16th ultimo, from the Public Hall, the pro--perty of ERIC BRASSEY, traveller, Farmers’ Auctioneering Company, Te Aroha, a gentlemen’s khaki trench-overcoat, with E. Brasses ” under left side of collar, tar-stains on left side ; and a black-silk scarf, about 1J yards long : total value, £lO. Identifiable.

Franktoit Junction.— Between the 26th and 28th ultimo ELVIS POINTON’S tobacconist - shop in Main Road was broken into, and the following articles stolen therefrom : A chased aluminium oigarette-case, 3 in. by 4 in. ; a black-morocco-leather pocket-wallet, with a metal-fastener; two metal open-faced engraved Ingersoll watches with black illuminated dials ; a celluloid watch-stand ; a box of fifty Manila cigars ; three packets of Royal Bengal cigars ; about twenty packets of cigarettes; a small bottle of bay rum; and a bottle of Lime Cream: total value, about £6 Is. 3d. Wallet only identifiable.

Pedersen’s boardinghouse, a pair of black football- boots, size 8, with diamond-shaped studs in them, value £1 25., identification doubtful, the property of HARRY .KYLE ; a cream football-jersey, with upturned collar, value 12s. 6d., identification doubtful, the property of ROLAND LELIEVER; and a dark-grey single

blanket with a blue stripe at top, and a dark-brown single blanket with a stripe at top, the property of JAMES PEDERSEN, total value £2, identifiable. Suspicion is attached to John or Jack Inglis, age nineteen, height 5 ft. 9 in., mill hand, native of New Zealand, slight build, dark hair and complexion, brown eyes, front teeth decayed. The suspect was a boarder with complainant when the articles were stolen.
