PERSONS WANTED.

Auckland. 24th ultimo, on warrant for failing to maintain his mother, Catherine Ryan, Hobsonville, William Patrick Ryan, age twenty-four, height 5 ft. 8 in., labourer, native of New Zealand, slight build, sallow complexion. He has a bad cough, and has the appearance of being consumptive.

Auckland. —11th ultimo, on warrant for failing to maintain his wife, Catherine Olsen, 86 St. Paul Street, John William Olsen, age thirty, height 5 ft. 6 in., labourer, native of New Zealand, strong build, fair hair and complexion, blue eyes, slight cast in left eye, two scars on left side of chin, left leg bowed. He wears a returned soldier’s badge, No. 2/774.

Auckland. —18th February last, for false pretences, F. Flynn (name probably fictitious), age about thirty, height about 5 ft. 9 in., medium build, fresh complexion, dark hair, clean-shaved ; dressed in a dark suit and black bowler hat. Accused obtained from Charles H. Kingsford, saddler, Queen Street, a saddle, value £5 135., by falsely representing that it was for Williamson, horse-trainer, Ellerslie, and sold it for £2 to Kissen, second-hand dealer, Customs Street. No warrant.

Auckland. - 2nd ultimo, on warrant for theft of a gentlemen’s bicycle (recovered), value £5, the property of William James Webb, contractor, 65 Fort Street, Jack Leckie, alias Roy Reid, alias A. White, alias A. Mitchell, age about twenty-three, height 5 ft. 7 in., good build, ruddy complexion, dark hair, all upper teeth supposed to be missing; wears a dark-cloth overcoat and blackfelt hat; stutters badly. He has a great difficulty in speaking, and mostly wiites ,what he desires to say. Accused stole the bicycle from Fort Street, and sold it at E. Kissen’s pawnshop in Hobson Street for £2 35., and afterwards sold the ticket to Asher Robinson, pawnbroker, Victoria Street. There are other charges pending.

Auckland. —3lst ultimo, that a witness summons in affiliation case, Police v. Rutledge, may be served upon him, William Wilkinson, alias Wilson, age forty, height 5 ft. in., hawker, native of New Zealand, medium build, dark complexion, black hair, brown eyes, scar on left cheek and on back of left hand. Napier.— 7th instant, that he may be located and the Inspector of Police, Napier, notified of his whereabouts, Norman McLeod Gunn, age about twenty-six, height about 5 ft. 9 in., ex bank clerk, supposed native of Australia, dark hair and complexion, clean-shaved. He left in April last the Defence Office at Napier, where he held the rank of sergeant-major, and it is desired to interview him regarding a number of forged £5 ss. clothing warrants which he issued. If located, he is not to be interviewed, but an urgent communication is to be sent to the Inspector of Police, Napier, who will forward the file dealing with the matter.

Feilding.— 2sth ultimo, that a summons for being found on licensed premises during prohibited hours may be served upon him, Michael Gray Higgins, alias George Harris, alias Horace Quinn, alias Charles White, age about forty-one, height 5 ft. BJin., labourer, native of New Zealand ; dressed in khaki riding-breeches and puttees, and greenish coat and cap. (See Police Gazette, 1916, page 811, and 1919, page 388.)

Eketahuna. breaking and entering the shop of A. H. Herbert and stealing therefrom thirty tins and 451 b. of Juno, Derby, and Golden Eagle tobacco (part recovered), and 12s. in coppers, total value £l9 55., William Toxward, age fifty, height 6 ft., carpenter and driver, native of England, strong build, fair hair and complexion, tattooed on one arm ; wears a military overcoat; talkative; fond of drink. Charles Hall, who has been charged with the above offence, states that he received the tobacco from William Toxward.

Featherston.— 7th April last, on warrant of commitment to Wellington Prison for fourteen days in default of paying £5 13s. fine and costs for being drunk while in charge of a motor-car, William Joseph Keeshan, age about thirty-five, height 5 ft. 7 in., traveller for farmingimplements, medium build, dark complexion, dark or brown hair, thin features, clean-shaved ; usually dressed in ridingbreeches and leggings, dark coat and vest, and soft-felt hat. He is also wanted on a warrant of commitment to Wellington Prison for fourteen days in default of paying £8 6s. fine and costs for a breach of the Railway By-laws.

Wellington. sth instant, on warrant of commitment to Wellington Prison for one month in default of paying £l2 17s. 6d. arrears due on a maintenance order for the support of her child, Betty Palmer, an inmate of Wellington Receiving Home, Florence or Jessie Florence Palmer, age twenty-two, height 5 ft. 2in., domestic, native of Australia, stout build, dark hair and complexion, brown eyes. Timaru.— 6th ultimo, on warrant for theft of £9 Bs. 3£d., the property of Artiluer Hoskin, butcher, St. Andrew’s, Charles Emmerson, age nineteen, height 5 ft. 7 in., labourer and carter, native of New Zealand, medium build, fair complexion, light-brown hair, blue eyes. Accused was employed driving a cart for complainant, and collected £9 Bs. from Donald Chisholm on terms requiring him to pay the same to his employer, but failed to do so. There are other charges pending.
