WHEREAS it is expedient to amend, in manner hereinafter provided, the notification made under the Animals Protection Act, 1908, dated the twenty-eighth day of March, one thousand nine hundred and nineteen, and published in the New Zealand. Gazette of the first day of April of the same year, declaring a special shooting season for imported and native game in the Otago Acclimatization District: Now, therefore, I, Arthur William de Brito Savile, Earl of Liverpool, the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby declare that pukeko may bo killed from the first day of May, one thousand nine hundred and nineteen, to the thirty-first day of May, one thousand nine hundred and nineteen (both inclusive), with a limit of twelve head per day by any one person, and do hereby amend the Warrant of the twenty-eighth day of March accordingly. IN exercise of the powers vested in me by the Animals Protection Act, 1908, I, Arthur William de Brito Savile, Earl of Liverpool, the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby exempt from the operation of section twenty-six of the said Act the Lakes District Acclimatization District, and do hereby notify that the following native game—viz., grey duck, pukeko, and black swan—may be killed within the Lake District Acclimatization District, comprising the County of Lake (except in the areas mentioned in the Schedule hereto) from the first day of May, one thousand nine hundred and nineteen, to the thirty-first day of July, one thousand nine hundred and nineteen, both days inclusive; and Ido hereby restrict the number of such native game that may be killed by any one person in any one day to not more than twenty-five head in all. And I do further notify that the following native game—viz., paradise duck—may be killed within the above-mentioned district (except in the areas mentioned in the Schedule hereto) from the first day of May, one thousand nine hundred and nineteen, to the thirty-first day of May, one thousand nine hundred and nineteen, both days inclusive; and I do hereby restrict the number of paradise duck that may be killed by any one person in any one day to not more than twelve head in all.

SCHEDULE. Abbas wherein Native Game shale not be killed. 1. The lake known as Lake Hayes, near Queenstown, Wakatipu, and an area half a mile in width surrounding the said lake. 2. All that part of the Fiordland National Park which is in the County of Lake. 3. All that area in the Otago Land District, containing by admeasurement 4,400 acres, more or less, being part of the waters of Lake Wakatipu and land in the vicinity. 4. And Ido further notify that licenses to kill such imported game within the said district shall be issued to any person on payment of the sum of twenty shillings each ; and the Postmasters at Russell, Kohukohu, Kaikohe, Kawakawa, Rawene, He rekino, Ohaeawai, Broadwood, Hukerenui, Opononi, Opua, Taheke, Towai, Waimamakau, Waiotemaramara, Whangape, and Okaihau are hereby appointed to sign and issue the said licenses to kill imported game. SCHEDULE. Areas wherein Native Game shall not be killed. Lake Rotokino, Lake Kanieri, Lake Okarito, White Heron Lagoon, and Lake Mahinapua, and the road reserve around the shore of the said Maliinapua Lake, Waiho Glacier, Okauto Lagoon, and Mahinapua Creek, and the road reserves on either side of the said creek. , Also part of Waitangi-roto Stream extending southerly and easterly from its confluence with the Waitangi-taona River for a distance of three miles, and the area included in lines running parallel to and three chains from the said part of the Waitangi-roto Stream on both sides of the stream. IN exercise of the powers vested in me by the Animals Protection Act, 1908, I, Arthur William do Brito Savile, Earl of Liverpool, the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby exempt from the operation of section 26 of the said Act the Waimarino Acclimatization District and do hereby notify that the following imported game—viz., cock pheasants and quail—may be killed within the Waimarino Acclimatization District, comprising the Counties of Waimarino and Kaitieke (except in the areas mentioned in the Schedule hereto), from the first day of May, one thousand nine hundred and nineteen, to the thirty-first day of July, one thousand nine hundred and nineteen, both days inclusive ; and do hereby restrict the number of cock pheasants that may be killed by any one person in any one day to twelve. And 1 do further notify that licenses to kill such imported game within the said district shall be issued to any person on payment of the sum of twenty shillings each ; and the Postmasters at Raetihi, Kaitieke, Manunui, Horopito, Owhango, Ohakune East, Pipiriki, Rangataua, Raurimu, Kakahi, and Ohakune are hereby appointed to sign and issue the said licenses to kill imported game.

And I do further notify that the following native game—viz., grey duck, teal, and black swan —may be killed within the above-mentioned district (except in the areas mentioned in the Schedule hereto) from the first day of May, one thousand nine hundred and nineteen, to the thirty-first day of July, one thousand nine hundred and nineteen, both days inclusive ; and do hereby restrict the number of such native game that may be killed by any one person in any one day to not more than twenty-five head in all.

SCHEDULE. Area wherein Imported and Native Game shall not BE KILLED. The Rangataua Domain ; the forest and scenery reserve, Section R 24b, Block VIII, Makotuku ; the cemetery reserve, Section R 24b, Block VIII, Mokotuku ; also all lands notified or set apart as sanctuaries or reserves for the preservation of imported or native game. All that area in the Wellington Land District, containing about 380 acres, being the Main Trunk Railway Reserve at Raurimu, situated in Kaiteke and Tongariro Survey Districts, extending northwards from the one-hundred-and-sixth mile from Marton Junction to Arline Creek and the railwaycrossing of the road immediately north of the Town of Raurimu. RESOLUTION. THE following regulations wore laid before the mombei’s of the Waverley-Waitotara Racing Club at a meeting held on the I7th day of March, 1919, at Waverley, with a recommendation by the Chairman of the Club, Mr. G. H. Graham, that the same be passed at once with a view to their approval by the Governor-General, in pursuance of the Gaming Act, 1908, section 33. Mr. G. H. Graham, the Chairman of the Club and the Meeting, moved, and Mr. C. D. Dickie seconded, and it was resolved, that such regulations should be adopted, and that the Chairman be authorized to sign the same in authentication thereof. The following arc the regulations referred to:— WAVERLEY-WAITOTARA RACING CLUB. Regulations. (Under the Gaming Act, 1908.)

In pursuance and exercise of the powers in that behalf contained in section 33 of the Gaming Act, 1908, and of all other powers and authorities it enabling in that behalf, the WaverleyWaitotara Racing Club, a racing club within the meaning of the said Act (hereinafter referred to as “the said club”), doth hereby revoke the regulations dated the 27th day of August, 1917, and in lieu thereof doth hereby make the following regulations controlling the admission of persons to that part of the Okotuku Domain, situated in the District of Waverley, and known as the Waverley Racecourse, while the said racecourse is used or occupied by the said club for race meetings. 1. These regulations shall come into force on the date of the same being published in the New Zealand Gazette. 2. In these regulations the words “ bookmaker,” “ racing club,” and “ race meeting ” shall have the meanings ascribed to those terms respectively by section 2 of the Gaming Act, 1908. 3. The following persons shall be and are hereby excluded from the racecourse above described while the same is used or occupied by the said club for a race meeting, namely,— (a.) Bookmakers. (b.) Bookmakers’ clerks, bookmakers’ assistants, and bookmakers’ agents. (c.) All persons under disqualification inflicted by any racing or trotting club in the Dominion of New Zealand, the Commonwealth of Australia, or elsewhere, if affiliated to the New Zealand Racing Conference, or the New Zealand Trotting Association, or the New Zealand Trotting Conference. (d.) Common prostitutes, and persons who habitually consort with thieves or with persons who have no lawful visible means of support.

(e.) Professional tipsters, persons convicted of house-break-ing or pocket-picking, forgery, uttering or possessing counterfeit coin, theft, false pretences, receiving stolen goods, mischief, assault, or any offence or crime of any kind under the Crimes Act, 1908, and also idle and disorderly persons, rogues and vagabonds, and incorrigible rogues convicted under the Police Offences Act, 1908, and persons convicted of an offence under the Gaming Act, 1908. The foregoing regulations of the Waverley-Waitotara Racing Club were made and passed bv the Waverley-Waitotara Racing Club on the sth da}*- of March, 1919, and signed by the Chairman and Secretary. J. Marshall, that the same be passed at once with a view to their approval by the Governor-General, in pursuance of the Gaming Act, 1908, section 33. Mr. A. J. Marshall, the Chairman of the Club and tho Meeting, moved, and Mr. F. Gibson seconded, and it was resolved, that such regulations should be adopted, and that the Chairman be authorized to sign the same in authentication thereof. The following are the regulations referred to :

KAIKOURA TROTTING CLUB. Regulations. (Under the Gaming Act, 1908.) In pursuance and exorcise of the powers in that behalf contained in section 33 of the Gaming Act, 1908, and of all other powers and authorities it enabling in that behalf, the Kaikoura Trotting Club, a trotting club within the meaning of the said Act (hereinafter referred to as “ the said club”), doth hereby revoke the regulations dated the 21st day of May, 1917, and in lieu thereof doth hereby make the following regulations controlling the admission of persons to that part of the racecourse situated in the District of Kaikoura, and known as the South Bay Domain Racecourse, while the said racecourse is used or occupied by tho said club for race meetings. 1. These regulations shall come into force on the date of the same being published in the New Zealand Gazette. 2. In these regulations the words “ bookmaker,” “ trotting club,” and “ race meeting ” shall have the meanings ascribed to those terms respectivelv by section 2 of tho Gaming Act, 1908. 3. The following are the regulations referred to : OTAKI MAORI RACING CLUB. Regulations. (Under the Gaming Act, 1908.) The following are the regulations referred to : BEAUMONT JOCKEY CLUB. Regulations. (Under the Gaming Act, 1908.) In pursuance and exercise of the powers in that behalf contained in section 33 of the Gaming Act, 1908, and of all other powers and authorities it enabling in that behalf, the Beaumont Jockey Club, a racing club within the meaning of the said Act (hereinafter referred to as “ the said club ”), doth hereby revoke the regulations dated the 9th day of February, 1918, and in lieu thereof doth hereby make the following regulations controlling the admission of persons to that part of the Beaumont Racecourse, situated in the District of Beaumont, and known as the Beaumont Racecourse, while the said racecourse is used or occupied by the said club for race meetings. 1. (d.) Common prostitutes, and persons who habitually consort with thieves or with persons who have no lawful visible means of support. (e.) Professional tipsters, persons convicted of housebreaking or pocket-picking, forgery, uttering or possessing counterfeit coin, theft, false pretences, receiving stolen goods, mischief, assault, or any offence or crime of any kind under the Crimes Act, 1908; and also idle and disorderly persons, rogues and vagabonds, and incorrigible rogues convicted under the Police Offences Act, 1908, and persons convicted of an offence under the Gaming Act, 1908. The foregoing regulations of the Ashburton Trotting Club were made and passed by the Ashburton Trotting Club on the 14th day of March, 1919, and signed by the Chairman and Secretary. RESOLUTION. THE following regulations were laid before the members of the Tapanui Racing Club at a meeting held on the 11th day of March, 1919, at Tapanui, with a recommendation by the Chairman of the Club, Mr. A. Mclntyre, that the same bo passed at once with a view to their approval by the Governor-General, in pursuance of the Gaming Act, 1908, section 33. Mr. A. Mclntyre, the Chairman of the Club and the Meeting, moved, and Mr. C. Atkin seconded, and it was resolved, that such regulations should be adopted, and that the Chairman be authorized to sign the same in authentication thereof. The following are the regulations referred to :

TAPANUI RACING CLUB. Regulations. (Under the Gaming Act, 1908.) In pursuance and exercise of the powers in that behalf contained in section 33 of the Gaming Act, 1908, and of all other powers and authorities it enabling in that behalf, the Tapanui Racing Club, a racing club within the meaning of the said Act (hereinafter referred to as “ the said club ”), doth hereby revoke the regulations dated the 2nd day of June, 1917, and in lieu thereof doth hereby make the following regulations controlling the admission of persons to that part of the racecourse situated in the District of Glenkenich, and known as the Tapanui Racecourse, while the said racecourse is used or occupied by the said club for race meetings. 1.
