Auckland. —l3th instant, on warrant for failing to make provision for the future maintenance of bis unborn illegitimate child, Francis Lennard Maxwell, age eighteen, height sft. Bin., warehouseman, native of New Zealand, medium build, fair complexion, brown hair, grey eyes; dressed in a brown suit and tan boots. Complainant, Florence Rose Muriel Baker, 54 Ardmore Road, Hearne Bay.

Auckland. 3rd instant, on warrant for failing to maintain his wife and three children, Percy Frederick Lewis Hooker, age thirty-six, height 5 ft. 9in., gasworks hand, native of New Zealand, dark sallow complexion, black hair turning grey and going bald, brown eyes, olean-shaved, pierced heart on shoulder; dressed in a navy-blue serge suit and soft-felt black hat; smart appearance. He may be accompanied by Mrs. Ingram, with whom he left New Plymouth recently. Complainant, Clare Florence May Hooker, 27 Campbell Road, Grey Lynn.

Auck la n d. —15th February last, on warrant for assaulting Malcolm Frank Turner, Thomas Bond, age twenty, height 5 ft. 7 in., labourer and driver, native of New Zealand, thin build, pale complexion, dark hair, grey eyes; usually dressed in a dark grey suit; slightly stooped; fond of horse-racing and billiards.

Hamilton. —13th January last, on warrant for false pretences, F. E. Horne, age about fifty, height about sft. Bin., book-canvasser, strong build, fresh complexion, fair hair and moustache turning grey ; usually dressed in a grey suit, black-felt hat, and brown leggings. Accused, who was canvassing for two books “The New Zealand Farmers’ Complete Book-keeper” and “ The New Zealand Farmers’ Law Book,” obtained £1 10s. from Lewis Mapp, farmer, Walton, by falsely representing that he was a Government official; that any farmer refusing to buy the books would get into serious trouble, and that those who purchased them would have their income-tax returns made up free of cost for five years. There are other charges pending.

Hamilton.— Alexander Edelman, breach of probation : It has been ascertained that accused has left this Dominion, having stowed away on a boat which left Wellington for Sydney a few months ago. (See Police Gazette, 1919, page 130.) This is in lieu of the notice on page 242 of this Gazette, where the Police Gazette reference is incorrect.

Napier. —l2th instant, on warrant for deserting from the s.s. “War Music,” William Abbott, age nine een, height 5 ft. 3 in., steward, native of England, slight build, pale complexion, brown hair and eyes, broad nose ; dressed in a light-blue-serge suit and cap. Accused is suffering from a contagious disease, and is therefore prohibited from landing in New Zealand.

Napier. —lsth instant, on warrant for failing to pay £2 ss. arrears due on a maintenance order, William John Chambers, age thirty-six, height 5 ft. 2 in., bntcffir, native of New Zealand, strong build, dark complexion, dark hair (cut short), brown eyes, clean-shaved, decayed front teeth; usually dressed in a dark suit and soft-felt hat; fond of drink, and talkative when under its influence. Arrears computed to the Ist instant.

Hastings. —llth instant, on warrant for theft of a gentlemen’s overcoat (recovered), value £l3, the property of Ralph Erskine Hewat, traveller, Masonic Hotel, Man (name unknown), age about thirty-five, height sft. .8 in., labourer, stout build, fresh complexion, ginger - coloured eyebrows ; dressed in a tweecl suit and light velour hat; fond of drink. The coat was stolen from the Pacific Hotel, and was taken from the above-desoribed man at Smith’s second-hand shop, where he attempted to sell it.

Wellington. —27th ultimo, on warrant for failing to maintain his wife, Charles Courtenay Lancefleld, age thirty nine, height sft. 7in., seaman, native of England, medium build, ruddy complexion, brown hair turning grey, brown eyes, mole on forehead. He is now in Sydney. Complainant, Jeannie Lancefiold, 36 Derwent Street, Island Bay.

Wellington. —llth ultimo, on warrant for theft of a motor car (recovered), value £2OO, the property of Ernest Smith Baldwin, 215 Lambton Quay, Charles Edward Rossiter Ruddick, alias Riddiick, age thirty - one, height 5 ft. B£in., barman, native of New Zealand, dark complexion, black hair, dark-brown eyes, long nose, anchor and scroll on right arm, tombstone inscribed “In loving memory of my dear father and mother ” on left arm, scar at base of left thumb; lisps. The motor-car was stolen from Hunter Street, and has since been recovered, having been traced to the possession of accused. (See Police Gazette , 1916, page 232, and Photographs, 1915, page 43.)

Christchurch. —15th instant, that he may be located and the Superintendent of Police, Christchurch, notified of his whereabouts, Robert Blair Stewart, age forty-two, height 5 ft. 4£in., oook and painter, native of New Zealand, fair hair and complexion, grey eyes, mole on right cheek, skull and cross-bones on left arm. He has failed to comply with the conditions of his release upon probationary license. (See Police Gazette , 1919, page 203, and Photographs, 1913, page 34.)

Christchurch.— 2Bth January last, on warrant of commitment to Lyttelton Prison for six months in default of finding security to compel his obedience to a maintenance order for the support of his two children, Sidney Cox, age twenty-four, height 5 ft. 8 in., farm labourer, dark hair and complexion ; usually drefesed in a brown suit.

Christchurch. —22nd January last, on warrant of com" mitment to Lyttelton Prison for fourteen days in default o* paying £1 4s. costs for medical treatment, John Whelan, age fifty-one, height 6 ft., labourer, native of Ireland, slight build, dark hair and complexion, blue eyes. Christchurch. —7th January last, on warrant for failing to comply with the terms of a maintenance order for the support of his wife, Sarah Badland, Charles Badland, age forty-two, height 6 ft., labourer, native of New Zealand, stout build, fresh complexion, black hair turning grey and going bald, small dark-brown eyes, long nose and face, pointed chin. Arrears to 3rd January last, £3l 4s. He is identical with Charles Henry Willis Badland, referred to in Police Gazette , 1914, page 321.

Christchurch. —15th instant, on warrant for failing to maintain his two children, inmates of Christchurch Receiving Home, Robert George Christian, age forty, height 5 ft. 3 in., labourer, native of New Zealand, medium build, fresh complexion, dark-brown hair, grey eyes.

Leeston.—llth instant, on warrant of commitment to Lyttelton Prison for two months in default of paying £lO 16s. fine and costs for failing to clear broom and gorse from his land, John Nepping, age about fifty-two, height about 5 ft. 6 in., confectioner, slight build, sallow complexion, brown hair turning grey, grey eyes ; usually dressed in a blue suit.

Timaru.— George McLeod, alias McCloud, absconding from bail: It has now been ascertained by the Auckland police that accused is not identical with John C. Harrison, alias Frederick O’Neil, alias Frank Thomas, alias George O'Neill, alias Tighe, &c., referred to in Police Gazette , 1918, page 602. (See Police Gazette, 1912, page 666.)
