Palmerston North. —10th instant, for escaping from military custody, Joseph Paul Fletcher, age thirtyfour, height 5 ft. sfin., miner, native of New Zealand, medium build, pale complexion, curly brown hair, grey

Wellington. —loth instant, for failing to comply with the terms of his release upon probationary license, Robert John Davies, alias Cross, age thirty, height 5 ft. 7f in., labourer and tailor, native of Tasmania, medium build, fresh complexion, dark-brown hair, blue-grey eyes, rose on eight forearm, star and anchor on left forearm. He is at present in military custody for deserting from Expeditionary Force. He has the appearance of an ex naval man. Accused, accompanied by his wife, obtained goods, value £6 10s., and a loan of £lO from the firm of George and Kersley, drapers, Lambton Quay, and in payment for same uttered a cheque for £7O-on the Bank of New Zealand (Limited), to which the signature of E. L. Hibbard, manager for Blackmore and Duncan, Ruanui, had been forged (in addition that firm’s rubber stamp had been used). The cheque was one of a number stolen—Nos. 599860, 599861, 599862, 60016, 60017, 60018, 60028, 60029, 60030, 60046, 60047, 60048.
