Newton. —On or about the 15th December last, from a dwelling, the property of EILEEN FILLINGHAM, a ladies’ 18ct. gold ring, set with a diamond; value, £5. Identifiable.
Auckland. —On the 26th December last HENRY BRICKLAND’S dwelling in Victoria Street, Onehunga, was broken into, and the following articles stolen therefrom : A silver teapot with ridges on it; a plain four-legged silver teapot; a silver hot-water jug, sugar-basin, and cream-jug; a silver trinket-box, 6 in. by 3 in.; a Big Ben clock ; a large brown varnished weather-glass ; a Gillette safety razor, with thirty-three blades in a silver case with blue lining; three gentlemen’s singlets ; five shirts ; a woollen jersey ; a pair of underpants; two white linen blouses; a black-and-white-striped blouse; a ladies’ night-dress; and two pairs of knickers, trimmed with torchon lace : total value, £201654d. Identifiable,
Auckland.— Between the 12th and 19th ultimo CECIL POTTS’S dwelling in Ctiurch Street, Onehunga, was broken into, and the following property stolen therefrom : A kapok double mattress, made of holland ticking, with two red stripes and five narrow green stripes ; two pairs of linen sheets; a pair of green blankets with blue border, oil-stain on one end ; a white counterpane with a small triangular patch in it; a white linen bedspread, worked with linen and drawn thread: total value, £lO 12s. Identifiable.
Auckland. —On or about the 27th November last, from TIMOTHY DONOVAN’S bedroom at 13 Alton Road, about £7 in single notes and silver money, and a cheque for £l, No. 127312, on the Commercial Bank of Australia, signed “C. Palmer.” Cheque only identifiable.
Hamilton. —Between the Ist and 7th instant, from a motor-bicycle in a shed in Victoria Street, the property of SIMON HARKER, optician, a motor-bicycle carburettor (mark on throttle) and control gear ; value, £3. Identifiable.
Hamilton. —4th ultimo, from Victoria Street, the property of PETER JELAVICH, Rukuhia, a gentlemen’s free wheel Victor bicycle, No. 4200, down-turned handles, backpedalling brake, Dunlop tires, parcel-carrier attached ; value, £lO. Identifiable.
Hamilton. —Between the 24th December last and the Ist ultimo, from the Horse Bazaar in Ward Street, the property of REGINALD RESTELL, a gentlemen’s free-wheel 26in. Invicta bicycle. No. 7205, straight handles with black grips, back-pedalling brake, rubber pedals (one rubber missing), mud-guard on back wheel fastened with wire ; value, £B. Identifiable.
Hamilton. —12ih ultimo, from Victoria Street, the property of HAROLD BARRY, Bridge Street, a gentlemen’s free-wheel Massey - Harris bicycle, No. 18377, straight handles, patent brake inside of hub, Dunlop tires; value, £l6. Identifiable.
Hamilton. —lst ultimo, from Victoria Street, the property of NORMAN GARDENER, Albert Street, a gentlemen’s bicycle, ru-ty outrigger handles with brown grips, Eadie Coaster hub, odd pedals, mud guard ou back wheel, Para Roadster tire on fr >nt wheel, Dunlop tire on back wheel; value, £3. Identifiable.
Te Whaiti. —On the Ist ultimo TAIWERA and WHAREPAPA PAERATA’S dwelling at Ruatahuna was broken into, and the following property stolen therefrom : A pair of tan boots, size 7or 8; a pair of khaki puttees ; and a double-rein bridle: total value, £5 10s. Identifiable. Suspicion is attached to Pirau Tihi, age about twenty, height about 5 ft. 8 in., labourer, aboriginal, medium build, dark hair and complexion; dressed in a dark-tweed suit. He may be in possession of a black pony mare with a small white star on forehead, which he took from a paddock at Oputao, the property of WININIA WHAREPAPA.
Wairoa. —Between the 20th December last and the 13th ultimo, from a boardinghouse at North Clyde, the prop-rty of GEORGE RICHARD MARSHALL, a ladies’ 9 ct. gold open-face watch, with “ Mrs. Marshall ’’engraved on inside of back case ; a 9 ct. gold chain, similar to illustration No. 40 in Police Gazette, 1911, page 3 ; a gold shield medal with “L.H.” on it; a 9ct. gold narrow hoop bracelet, set with a white stone in centre and a red one at each side ; a bracelet composed of soldiers’ brass buttons; a leaf-shaped brooch, set with pearls; a9ct. gold muff-ohain, similar to illustration No. 35 in Police Gazette, 1911, page 3, with a round locket containing two photographs attached ; a ladies’ 9 ct. gold ring, set with a blue and a white sione; a 9 ct. gold cross, set with an emerald; a 9ct. gold half-moon brooch, similar to illustration No. 54 in Police Gazette, 1911, page 4 ; a greenstone heart brooch, mounted with gold Siamese twins; a plain greenstone heart brooch; a gentlemen’s 9 ct. gold fetter watch-chain, with a greenstone pendant and a gold sovereign - case attached; a gold-mounted flat plait human-hair watch-chain, with a gold heart locket with “ P.T.” on it attached; a silver watch-chain with a greenstone pendant attached ; a gentlemen’s gold band ring, set with three rubies; and a gold tie-pin, set with red stones: total value, £62 11s. Identifiable.
Napier. —On or about the 18th ultimo, from a lane off Emerson Street, the property of JOHN VICTOR RYDON, sohoolboy, a gentlemen’s black-enamelled free-wheel bicycle, upturned bandies with a dent under each, Eadie Coaster hub; value, £6. Identifiable.
Hastings. 29th December last, from Karamu Road, the property of THOMAS ANDERSON, Clive, agcn lemen’s black-enamelled 24 in. B.S.A. bicycle, No. 129615, upturned handles with black grips steel pedals, Michelin tires; value, £lO. Identifiable.
Upper Hutt. Trentham Hotel, the property of FRANK HIGGITT, Otaki, an 18 ct. gold hunting - chronometer Baume watch, with “F.H.” on outside of case; and a 15 ct. gold fetter-and-oval double watch chain, with a diamond - shaped me* al with “A. 8.” to “F.H.” on it attached : total value, £42. Identifiable.
Wellington. —Between the 18th and 28th December last from a case in No. 2 Shed, King’s Wharf, the property of the WELLINGTON HARBOUR BOARD, eighteen tussore-silk shirts, with “No. 1780” on neck, sizes 14£ to 16£; eighteen tussore-silk shirts, with “ No. 1781 ” on neck, sizes 14J to 17 ; twenty-four white-silk shirts, with “No. 1774” on neck, sizes from 14J to 16J; eighteen white silk shirts, with •“No. 1776 ” on neck, sizes 14J to 17; sixteen dozen tussore-silk Polo collars, with “No. 1780” on neck, sizes 14 to 17^; nine dozen tussore-silk Polo collars, with “ No. 1781 ” on them, sizes 14£ to 17; fifteen dozen white-silk Polo collars, with “ No. 1774 ” on them, sizes 14 to 17J; nine dozm white Polo collars, with “No. 1776” on them, sizes 14| to 17; and eight dozen white-silk double collars, with “No. 1784 ” on them, sizes 14£ to 16£ : total value, £B2. Wellington. —On or about the 24th ultimo, from fishinglaunches at Islan 1 Bay, the property of G. GREW, L. MIEO, J. TAIT, G. BARNES, G. CRISALLO, BONGIMO AND CO., T. ISBISTER AND CO , SMITH AND CO., AND TAIT AND CO., two 160-fathom lines, five 240-fathom lines, a 560-fathom line, a 300 fathom line, three 60-fathom lines, a 5-fathom line, four 4-fathom lines, two wire lines with thirty hooks on each, three line-drags with about forty hooks on each, a 22-fathom wire line with seventy-five hooks on it, seventeen 40-fathom cotton lines, a 20 fathom wire line with seventy hooks on it, twelve 40 fathom cot'on lines, four 200-fathom lines, a 240-fathom line, eighteen 40 fathom lines, a 9-fathom line with seventy hooks attached, threi 15fathom drag-lines, seventeen 40-fathom lim-s, a 50-fathom wire line, four 840-fathom line, 100 fathoms of 7 lb. and 8 lb. lines, four wire lines with about fifty-five hooks on eaen, several tins of benzine, and a quantity of hooks ; total value, £233. Ident fiable.
Otira. —lßth ultimo, from MICHAEL MILEY’S bedroom at the Terminus Hotel, a gentlemen’s silver bunting Rotherhams lever watch, scratched near keyhole; and a black-silk-ribbon watch guard, with two silver horses’ heads (joined together by a bar-) in centre of guard : total value, £6. Identification doubtful. Suspicion is attached to Walter Hayes, age about thirty seven, height 5 ft. 9 in., stableman, medium build, dark hair, complexion, and moustache; dressed in a blue suit and black hat. The suspect passed Otira en route to Christchurch in charge of the racehorse “ Trickery.”
Christchurch. —29th October last, from outside the Sandridge Hotel, the property of ROBERT DAVIDSON, Sydenham, a gentlemen’s free-wheel B.S.A. bicycle, threespeed gear, nickel rims (broken), rubber pedals, green mudguards (back one has been repaired); value, £lO. Identifiable.
Christchurch. —9th December last, from Manchester Street, the property of EUGENE FRANCIS SULLIVAN, 206 Rolleston Street, a gentlemen’s blaok-enamelled Royal Club Swift bicycle, No. 643560, down-turned handles with a white grip on one side and a green grip on the other, rattrap pedals, racing-saddle, Oceanic tires; value, £6 10s. Identifiable.
Winton. —On or about the 28th Deoember last, from a safe in CHRISTOPHER COOMBS’S premises at Limehills, a cheque for £6 55., No. 10285, on the National Bank, Gore, drawn by R ibert Wyber, and payable to C. Coombs or order. Suspicion is attached to Charles Carran, ag > nineteen, height 5 ft. 8 in., labourer, native of Now Zealand, medium build, dark hair and complexion, brown eyes; dressed in a grey suit. He has the appearance of a quarter-caste Maori. Suspect has been interviewed by the Riverton police without result.
