Amending Regulations for Trout-fishing in the Auckland A celirnatizalion District. LIVERPOOL, Governor-General. ORDER IN COUNCIL. At the Government House at Wellington, this twenty-ninth day of October, 1918. Present : His Excellency the Governor-General in Council. WHERKAS by Order in Council dated the thirtieth day of October, one thousand nine hundred and sixteen, and published in the New Zealand Gazette No. 124, of the second day of the following month, regulations were made for trout-fishing in the Auckland Acclimatization District and waters thereof :

And whereas by Order in Council dated the twelfth day of November, one thousand nine hundred and seventeen, and published in the New Zealand Gazette No. 170, of the twentysecond day of the same month, the said regulations of the thirtieth day of October, one thousand nine hundred and sixteen, were amended : And whereas it is desirable to further amend the said regulations : Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the power and authority conferred on him by section eighty - three of the Fisheries Act, 1908, and of all other powers and authorities enabling him in that behalf, and acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, doth hereby revoke the said regulation made by Order in Council of the twelfth day of November, one thousand nine hundred and seventeen, and doth hereby make and substitute the following regulation in lieu thereof, and in place of clause eight of the hereinbefore-recited regulations of the thirtieth day of October, one thousand nine hundred and sixteen.

REGULATION. 8. No person shall use any bait or lure other than the natural or artificial fly, or natural or artificial minnow, and any small indigenous fish, insect, grasshopper, beetle, or spider. The use of shellfish, koura, or the houhou or matai grub, or of earth worms shall be a breach of the regulations. Provided that no bait other than artificial fly shall be used for taking fish in that portion of the Puniu River above Kihikihi, or in that portion of the Waipa River for seven miles above and seven miles below the township of Otorohanga. Provided further that no bait other than natural and artificial fly shall be used for taking fish in the South Wairoa River, the Maungatawhiri River, Hay’s Creek (otherwise known as Hunua Gorge Creek), Ararimu Creek, the Ongaruhe River, the Waimiha River, and the Pokaiwhenua River. The fine for every breach of this regulation shall not be less than £2 or more than £SO.

Prohibiting Net Fishing in Portion of the Otago Harbour. • LIVERPOOL, Governor-General. ORDER IN COUNCIL. At tiie Government House at Wellington, this twenty-ninth day of October, 1918. Present : His Excellency the Governor-Gener\l in Council. WHEREAS by Order in Council dated the fifth day of October, one thousand nine hundred and nine, certain regulations were made prohibiting the taking of fish by means of nets in the upper portion of the Otago Harbour : And whereas it is desirable to revoke the said regulations, and to substitute others in lieu thereof :

Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the power and authority conferred upon him by the fifth section of the Fisheries Act, 1908, and of all other powers and authorities enabling him in that behalf, and acting by

and with tire advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, doth hereby revoke the said regulations of the fifth day of October, one thousand nine hundred and nine, and doth hereby make the following regulations in lieu thereof for the purpose of the said Act; and doth order that

the same shall come into force from and after the date thereof.

REGULATIONS. (1.) No person shall haul or use any net for the purpose of taking fish in that portion of the Otago Harbour on the upper side of a straight line drawn from a post fixed at high-water mark opposite the railway semaphore-pole, and immediately north of Jack’s Point and Trig. Station E.E., opposite Section 53, West Harbour District, to a point marked by a post on the opposite side of the harbour at the north-east corner of Section 4, Waverley, such line being shown by a red line on plan marked M.D. 4(179, and deposited in the office of the Marine Department at Wellington. (2.) Any person committing a breach of clause (1) of these regulations is liable to a penalty of not less than £1 and not exceeding £2O.
