PROPERTY STOLEN.

Kaikohe.— DONALD GUTHRIE’S filly stolen : Pihima Hohepe has been interviewed by the Rawene police, and no implicative evidence obtained. The filly has not been recovered. (See Police Gazette, 1918, page 593.)

Newton. —On or about 23rd ultimo, the shop of ALFRED MOORE, Karangahape Road, was broken into, and the following articles stolen therefrom : Two dark-fawn-coloured overcoats ; a light-fawn-coloured overooat, may have “ Dinkland ” on green-silk square on lining between shoulders ; a blue-serge suit, size 6; a grey worsted suit, size 4; a brown shirt; and a dozen assorted silk neckties: total value, £ls 2s. 6d. Identification doubtful.

Auckland. —28th ultimo, from a mail-bag between Auckland and Huntly, the property of the NEW ZEALAND GOVERNMENT (Potal Department) £l2O in £1 notes, and a bundle of letters (letters recovered). Not identifiable.

Mount Eden. —2lst August iast, from a motor-car in Randolph Street, the property of Dr. NEIL McDOUGALL, a nickel-plated Lucas motor-car horn with a rubber butt; value, £2. Identifiable.

Mount Eden. —Bth ultimo, from St. Sepulchre’s Church, the property of H. S. SYMONDS, Bank of Australasia, a gentlemen’s light-brown Burberry overcoat, plaid lining with a red stripe; a black walking-stick, silver band with “H.S.S.” thereon, and end on crook mounted in silver: total value, £2. Identifiable.

Remuera. —l7th instant, from the dwelling of WILLIAM KENT, 45 Vincent Avenue, a ladies’ gold open-face watch, with a long jet chain attached; and two embroidered pillow - Bhams : total value, £l6 10s. Identifiable.

Waikino. —20th August last, from a railway-carriage at Paeroa, the property of ALFRED JAMES OOX, Waitawhita, a gentlemen’s dark canvas waterproof overcoat, velvet collar, rope tab ; value, £3 Bs. 6d. Identifiable.

Hamilton.—On or about the 23rd ultimo, from FRANK VICKERY’S yard in Victoria Street, an old 4| horse-power James motor-bicycle engine, No. J 3787, magnets and carburettor missing ; and ttie frame of a side-oar, tire missing, both damaged by fire: total value, £ls. Identifiable.

Hamilton. — Between 7th and 10th instant, from the dwelling of HERBERT GOUGH, Claudlands, a ladies’ small gold open-face keyless watch, Nos. 3392 and 375, plain back and gold dial, and hands ; value £4. Identifiable.

Te Awamutu. —ERNEST REDGATE’S horse, &c., stolen : The suspect, Baker, has been arrested by the Rotorua police. (See Police Gazette, 1918, pages 123 and 325, and Apprehensions, this issue.)

Otaki. —DOON WEE’S boots, &c., stolen: The suspect, Leonard McKenna, has been interviewed by the Wanganui police, but no evidence resulted. (See Police Gazette, 1918, page 452.)

Wellington.— NEW ZEALAND AND AFRICAN STEAMSHIP COMPANY’S oornets stolen: On the sth December, 1916, the Sydney (N.S.W.) police arrested Arthur Lewis, a jewellery-dealer, for having in his possession a quantity of goods reasonably suspected to be stolen, amongst which was the cornet No. 66330. Lewis stated that he bought it from a seaman named Brady for £l2,

and produced a stamped receipt to that effect, Brady cannot now be traced. The cornet No. 66327 has been recovered by the Wellington police; it was pawned at Metz’s pawnshop for £3 by James Neil, who gave the name J. G. Richards. He said he took it from the bouse of his brother-in-law, Albert Cameron, a taxidriver, 11 Wright Street. Mrs. Cameron stated that she found the cornet in her husband’s taxi-car one morning about January last, and placed it away without telling him. Cameron said he did not know the cornet was in his house, and could only surmise that some person in endeavouring to get rid of it placed it in his car. (See Police Gazette, 1916, page 887.)

Fkndalton. —29th ultimo, from outside St. Barnabas Church, the property of ERIC FRANCIS MACK WORTH HA RTLE, 9 Poynder Avenue, a gentlemen’s black-enamel-led free-wheel Kent bicycle, white grips, black rims with red lines, Barnett Glass tir.-s, rat-trap pedals, Brooks saddle with a brown cover, back-pedalling brake ; value, £B. Identifiable.

Christchurch.— Between 12th and 14th instant the shop of LILIAN ROBBINS, 256 a Durham Street, was broken into, and the following articles stolen therefrom : Two pairs of black chrome Standard boots, size 10; two pairs of black chrome sewn Standard boots, size 9 ; six_pairs of black chrome Standard boots, size 8; a block of leather laces, black on one side and tan on the other; twelve pairs of gentlemen’s woollen socks ; six pairs of boys’ stockings, with coloured tops white in some and rod in others ; twelve tins of Radium black boot-polish ; and twelve tins of Nugget black boot-polish : total value, £2l 2s. Boots only identifiable.
